Hey thanks for checking it out! The Particle is cool, it has a lot of nuances that keep me discovering new ways of using it.

How are you making it loop the sounds? I don't see a recording device?

    • @lawrencedolton

Thanks for checking out the video! The looping is done with the Red Panda Particle pedal on the right. The "chop" knob includes a "freeze" section. What's interesting is that at the top of the freeze section new sounds will quickly replace current looping sounds, but in the lower freeze section it takes long for new sounds to replace looping sounds so you get some interesting overlaps of new and old sounds. The output of the Levitation pedal (last in the chain) is going into my computer (out of sight) where it is recorded in Pro Tools.

This is great! Might I ask where in the box did you place your contact mic?

    • @lawrencedolton

Thanks for checking out the video! It has a single 27mm piezo mic attached to the inside top. I wasn't quite ready to commit to glue, so the mic is taped in place. Because the box is small and the wood is thin, any part of the top and sides is sensitive and picked up by the mic pretty much equally.

Nice work! Did you use any kind of resistors or audio compression? Whenever I work with piezo’s I find them very hard to tame. Yours sound great!

Thanks for checking out the video. It's true, piezos are very sensitive and need to be tamed for best recording. In my case I rely on a mic pre and multiple gain stages. The single piezo in the box is wired directly to the output jack (no resistors). Off camera the cable from the box goes into a mic pre (Focusrite Clarett 2Pre) which has a record level control. The Focusrite then goes into a channel of my mixer which has it's own level control. Finally the mixer output goes into my DAW (Pro Tools). I set the Focusrite level control to handle the piezo and keep it from overloading. The mixer level control is used to further adjust the level for the recording in the DAW. I just use Pro Tools for recording and output of the final files. I don't add any compression or effects after recording.

Thanks for checking it out! The two effect pedals are EarthQuaker Devices Levitation and Red Panda Particle, both excellent with a nice variety of options.

Awesome sounds! What is this thing that you use to hold wooden sticks? Is it possible to buy it somewhere?

Thanks! It's a terminal grounding bar (or ground bar). They come in different lengths. You'll find them on Amazon or Grainger. They are very useful.
