- Hellblade 2 is only days away, though by the marketing, it may be hard to tell. Today, we’re discussing the challenges facing the much-anticipated Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Set to launch on May 21, 2024, the sequel to the hit game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is facing some hurdles. There are rumors that Microsoft might release Hellblade 2 on the PS5, which could cause issues for the Xbox exclusive’s developer, Ninja Theory. This news comes amidst reports of layoffs at Xbox, raising concerns about the game’s future.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Ninja Theory and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is the sequel to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. It is scheduled to release for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on 21 May 2024.

The people that were there in the beginning that actually cared about the CONSOLE and were willing to make sacrifices are obviously no longer at Xbox. Since the tail end of the 360 era all we got were corporate shrills and clowns.

I love my Xbox but I was nervous about this one, and keep in mind I love Hellblade 1 but when the dev went from saying this would be a AAA game down to a AA game.

I still remember ninja theory skipped the hellblade next gen ps5 update after the microsoft acquisition.
At best I think Hellblade2 will be a critical success and a media darling with award potential. I'm just not sure if that kind of success gives the "high impact" Xbox is interested in.

Studios get cut and shuttered all the time. It can often be for good reasons and to studios we don't think deserved it - that's the way of fair business. But these recent cuts feel more haphazard than a delicate culling. Reports are even showing that MS execs don't have the manpower to manage all these studios. This is not good for Ninja Theory at all.

The game will score around 93 now the game will not make profits typically because game pass it will also be nominated for game of the year just for story and experience alone

Great video 100% agree with your take on the first game. I am a PS5 owner who didn't play the first one till it came to the system. We live in an age now where console exclusivity can kill a studio. I already plan on getting game pass just to experience this because I love the first one so much. Hopefully it does well🤞

I am very worried for the IP. Hellblade is a passion project by ninja theory who really did their due diligence to not only execute a unique and powerful idea that represents a misunderstood community but also knock it out of the park with such a small team.
This team and IP deserves to still be free to expand and explore in the world if that is what they want, and the incompetence and implosion of Xbox shouldn’t take this to the grave along side them.
Really hoping for the best for Ninja Theory and Senua’s stories…

There has been zero marketing for this game to let people know its release is imminent. The game isn’t going to do well, especially with GamePass numbers completely stagnant. At a town hall with Zenimax employees, Matt Booty said the company’s studios had been spread too thin - like “peanut butter on bread” - and that leaders across the division had felt understaffed. They decided to close these studios to free up resources elsewhere. Closing Ninja Theory would not help ZeniMax, so they shouldn't be affected by what's going on there. I suspect the problem is Starfield and Redfall underperforming, which puts pressure on ZeniMax. Leadership blamed a lack of management staff for the poor performance of their games. To provide more oversight, they had to close a few studios. They picked Tango and Arkane Austin because they are between games I guess finishing Redfall doesn't count).
The whole thing is ridiculous. Microsoft gives studios unrealistic release dates then when the games release unfinished they blame the studios.

The recent cuts were to Zenimax studios. Ninja Theory is owned directly by Microsoft. I do not believe they will be affected by the changes at Bethesda.

I know you're very excited and very worried about this game and I hope it's everything you're hoping for and that the devs won't have to worry about if they're next to go but I'll be honest I don't have much faith seeing that Microsoft is now the captain of the Xbox ship

Hellblade was basicly just a walking simulator with repetitive symbol recognition puzzles and very little combat. The graphics and audio was good but it was not good enough to carry the whole game.
Yup agreed. Not sure why it got good reviews as it's actually pretty damn boring overall. Yeah it does some things well but it's boring... So it don't matter.

It depends how much money it makes. It’s not going to push GP subs. Xbox can’t wait another seven years for another small release, awards or not. Feels as if it’s already doomed. Xbox aren’t pushing it unlike how their competition does with even third party content.
This was the final nail in the coffin if you ask me. I can't believe I'm saying it but XBOX probably should just go third party. They are damaging the idsutry and not just their brand. Their brand is in the dirt.

None of that sounds like a problem except Microsoft shutting down ather studios. That bein said ninja theory is still an independent studio not owned by microsoft and could easily continue without them. Anything higher than 30fps for a game with that level of graphics doesn't make sense. Also why do you need higher fps for this game anyway? It's not like that .5 seconds you get for reaction time would make any difference. The marketing direction doesn't really bother me either their could be several reasons for that. The two biggest reason i can think of is the studio played psychological tricks in the first one and making everyone panick over something they don't actually know could be same idea. Also it's not a huge game with hours upon hours of content so if they kept releasing more we would've seen half the game by now so i think that would be most likely the reason. Like for real anyone who played the first one should already know what to expect from what they did put out. I think everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions.
Ninja Theory was bought in 2018.

I know you LOVE the first game, but my god is that game frustrating. It's an utter slog. Its a 5 hour experience spread out over 8 hours. The fact they slowdown the movement during dialogue moments was PS2 level design. Why does Senua MOVE SO SLOW???? Is she diabetic????
Lmfao. 100% agree. This will be the same painful movement speed. Drove me nuts in the first one, walking is bad, but somehow they managed to make it so you were moving slower than that. Akin to someone that's been walking a desert for 24 hours with no water and can barely stand, let alone walk.
