    I was athletic in my 20s but life circumstances drowned me in my 30s. Now I'm 40, work in tech and started calisthenics 6 weeks ago because I found your inspiring and motivating videos. No joke, I feel better and my younger self esteem is back. Much love and respect.

    • @TravisRayLive
      @TravisRayLive 5 месяцев назад +4

      This is exactly my issue. Always athletic in my 20's, 30's slowed me down and I'm about turn 39. I'm 6' 0" exactly, and I only weight 140 lbs wet. I'm a software engineer and work from home, so I need to figure out what the hell to do to get out this lazy ass cycle I feel like I'm trapped in, but I know I'm not trapped. I just need to do the work. But if 6 weeks is all it took to start *feeling* better, that's good enough for me. I don't need to see any physical changes, I just want to feel better, that's all.

    • @flxCat_
      @flxCat_ 5 месяцев назад

      @@TravisRayLive What I wanted to say is that I feel better because I can feel the changes, and of course I'm losing weight and slowly building up my muscles. But the most important thing for me is that a lot of pain is disappearing and I can start (track) cycling properly again. The goals can change, but I need some, just like with work.

      Bro how do u manage diet & exercise with a job?
      I need some advice & tips on work life balance,meal prepping & managing time...

    • @flxCat_
      @flxCat_ 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@ssgamer5693 First of all, I have no children and hardly any family, and I live in the center of a big city where the supply routes are not long. I also work hybrid hours, with flexitime. I try to do 30-60 minutes of workout 5 times a week after work. Sometimes it's only 4 workouts a week or the workout is 20 minutes long, but that doesn't matter. It usually balances out with a relaxed 90-minute workout, for example. My diet is quite strict, but it's been that way for a long time (it's from when money was very tight). I usually cook in the evening for tomorrow's lunch. There are also apps with which you can track calorie consumption. For me, exercise feels like a balance and even if it's strenuous, it's not exhausting. I hope this helps.

    Life happens. But what I think makes people not stick to working out is black and white and all or nothing thinking. Don't underestimate working out once a week doing easier workouts. If you have a period where you can't exercise I recommend doing short and easier things. Once you get back, you'll realize how those easy workouts helped you maintain a lot as opposed to stopping at all.

    • @Ivarposthumus
      @Ivarposthumus 5 месяцев назад +3

      I agree! If you can't find 1 hour a week, you're not even looking. Less gazing on your phone, less TV. Your alarm 1 hour earlier. Etc. if you can't or don't want to train hard, go for a fast paced walk of 1 hour. There's always a way!

    • @LilBoyHexley
      @LilBoyHexley 4 месяца назад +5

      On the money, it's very easy to go from going hard to not going at all. A good saying that applies to fitness is: "Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly." Even if you're doing shorter, or fewer, workouts, that's many times better than stopping altogether.

    I could never willingly stop training. It's a matter of life and death for me. Comparing my early 20s of pure party, smoking, and alcohol and now it's night and day. After 3 years of constant workout routine I've never felt better in my mind and body ever.

    Thanks Chris! Haven't come across a video with such info before. I believe the explanation in this video is if you stop working out and stop excercising totally. In my case I stopped working out with weights/calisthenics for 6 months, but still cycled and walked decent distances during the break. Maybe I lost a bit of upper body muscle mass, but I did't gain that much mass anyway after years of working out regularly. 😂 Maybe I should increase my protein intake.

    Long story short: DON'T STOP. If you need a break, take a break, try something different, switch things up, but don't stop your diet if you diet, don't stop training. if you feel like giving up on whatever you're trying find something new that you enjoy doing that will keep you fit. Doing nothing and eating crap will destroy your body. Most things we do on our daily lives aren't healthy, and most types of food out there are really bad for you. So if you find time to do everything except working out, training a martial art, dancing or doing a sport or any healthy thing you will get sick.

    Unfortuanately I already know. I still have abs and have kept myself in good shape, but I found myself being pretty inconsistent in training this past year. I had no problem the past 5 years, but after starting college and trying to keep up good grades while working, I've found it really hard to stay on top of everything. Gonna find a way to change that though, summers right around the corner.

    I tore the shit out of my hamstring and then did literally nothing for pretty much 4 months. I lost over 6kg of lean muscle and strength dropped by over 80%. I had previously been very consistent at an intermediate level of calisthenics for over 4 years. I was totally depressed and it was very hard work to get back to the gym. I've been pretty consistent and getting pretty close to my previous strength levels.

I didn't eat much, so I didn't gain fat. in general, I lost weight from 72kg(158 lbs) kg to 61(134) with a height of 185. Strength, however, didnt drop much, maybe by 10 percent, but overall I did not decrease. And I'm terribly dry that all the muscles are cut through

    Exercising is necessary. Love it or not. Don't want it after a while or not. Make excuses or not. Being tired, sick, sleppless etc or not.. Exercise is necessary. İ have to do it. You have to. We have to. İf you wait for motivation or do you think you keep that motivation like forever, its absolutely wrong. Motivation is just a feeling. İt come and go like happiness, sadness etc. So discipline is key. We can't be weak in this life, phsycally or mentally. Because there is no room for weak in this life. We have to 💪🏻
