My dad's been deaf in his left ear for about 8 years now. We usually bonded over our love for classic and prog rock, and it's been really sad and tiring seeing him unable to enjoy music with me like the old days. I put the album on while we were driving yesterday, and the first time in what felt like forever I saw him tapping the wheel to the rhythm. I saw the old joy of my dad, jamming out to Pink Floyd in his eyes. You awakened something in him Chris, and I'm forever grateful for it. He said this song and Om Mani Padme Hum Part 2 are his favorites and he wishes you the best in the future.

Chris, how are you affected by the recent fires around Athens? How is it over there? I was recently on vacation in another part of Greece. It was beautiful, so it is sad to see forest getting destroyed and homes ruined.
I'm not directly affected but it's devastating to watch. Greece has been facing huge fires with catastrophic consequences for nature and society several years in a row. All governments, with this one being the worse offender by far, have been criminally lacking in any sort of plan either to prevent or to put out these fires.

I doubt this would happen but as a very beginner composer it would be super neat if Chris were to make a "tutorial" or just a general rundown of how he makes his music, from the bassline to the guitar solos, I would absolutely love to be able to make music at this level in FL studio
I have some walkthroughs on the channel and I might do more if time allows...

I kinda want to know how he picks new instruments. Does he know what he wants it to sound like? Or does he just scroll through instrument packs and find one that sounds cool and fits?
@IDTT137 Usually I have something in mind and try to design it from scratch, or from a preset that sounds close to it. Especially when doing electronic sounds I like to get hands on with custom modulation and real-time controls.
But there have been many times that I've browsed through presets to get inspiration or a sound that I couldn't have imagined.
1:45 onward sounds so much like Floyd, I adore it

I think George (the guitarist) said that this one in particular was meant as a Floyd tribute, though obvs there’s a TON of Floyd influence across all the RoR albums
this song has perhaps the best guitar solo on the RoR2 ost yet, and that's saying something

the sheer amount of motifs in this song is making my head swirl with lore possibilites. . . . you've got stuff from the void fields, the intro to the game, basically the entirety of "they may as well be dead", etc etc etc
this makes me feel that whatever stage this is is EXTREMELY significant to the false son - _and_ the void
I always get these comments although I've never written a single note based on lore.
To me there's always the new elements of each album, and the old elements of everything that's come before, which I use freely however I see fit.

@@AstronautDown I love that "old elements" part. What I mean is it was quite an experience hearing some of the reinvented ror1 soundtracks (like on stage 5), hearing old ideas in a more instrumental-heavy way. By the way, are you recording all those parts yourself or are you programming them?
@@AstronautDown huh, thats interesting. i feel like games and movies (well, i guess just Soundtracks for stuff in general) are a really cool opportunity for tying motifs to stuff like characters or concepts, but your process is entirely fair. whatever works (it clearly is working, cus these are bangers)
With how many of these song drops we're getting and with all the recent teasers + devlog it feels only evercloser to the release
there are 10 songs in the sots soundtrack, 5 of these 10 songs are revealed if we include this one and vinyl is coming out on october so i would say there is a 2-3 month gap till dlc is released
I came to RUclips looking for early releases since he already had some on here, but this morning Spotify gave me a notification that the whole album drops in 9 days, which makes me think the DLC will do the same, get ready boys it's almost here

Honestly its crazy how consistently you can make me ascend to the 12th dimension with these new releases.
I love how you can hear bits and pieces of every song, like a nutritious smoothie full of Chris’ synths and sexy basslines. You can hear parts of Parjanya, choppy samples of Dew Point’s moody synths from the ROR1 soundtrack, and then he tops it off with a dollop of guitar solo for the rest of the song. God DAMN Chris it’s physically impossible for you to miss. Your artistic style in music needs to be studied by scientists so future generations of chris christodoulous can try to reach this level of atmospheric immersion. Please never quit making music 🙏

What I love about this track is that somehow it feels more personal. It doesn't have the long mysterious synths of an unkown planet as much as it has a jazzy, you've come this far so you might as well keep going, the guitar strums in the middle feel like a conversation, as the last bit of hesitation falls away. You may not make it out of here, you might not even make it to the end of whatever path you are on, but DAMN IT ALL you have to try.
And depsite everything, you feel calm, the bass and percussion remain steady, as the guitar shreds and the world rumbles around you, you keep going.
Just don't think about what that sudden, crunchy fadeout means.

Throughout the peak of the lead guitar I feel this incredible knot in my chest in the best way possible. Gnarly is the only way I can describe it.
Chris’s guitar playing has gotten even better. Second half kinda reminds me of like a pink Floyd breakaway lead. Super cool

This may very well be your best work yet for my personal taste- all of the little details, the pacing, the tone of the guitar creates this perfect soundscape that culminates into an absolutely perfect climax. What sets it apart is it knows how to hold it's punches, not just blasting intensity but rather accomplishing that climactic moment through compositional skill. Great work!!

Certain elements of some of these songs feel a little more blues-y than previous outings to Petrichor V and I'm entirely here for it. Also, that smooth guitar emerging from the ambience at 2:14 is absolutely divine.

One of, in my opinion, the very best tracks in Seeker of the Storm, and even the whole game. It plays in Helminth Hatchery, which in my opinion is easily the best area in the game, and I could not be any happier of it. You never miss Chris, and this is an amazing track.
really gotta say, even with this dlc having so many issues and bugs, being made by different people, i'm so glad you could still do the music. you do this, whimsical cosmic style, so well, never failing to deliver ♥

I hear this song, and I can't help but live through a fantasy in which a survivor fights on despite overwhelmingly grim odds. A perfect soundtrack for a last stand, and perfect for Risk of Rain 2. Just incredible work, Christodolou.

Chris dude! This is sick! Always loved the guitar and synth! But, I've wondered, when will we get a BASS oriented song? Maybe in the future we may get a sick BASS solo? Just something to think about! Anyways, this song has gone to the top of my list in terms of favs from the ROR soundtrack!
There is a fretless bass solo in one of the upcoming tracks, but it's not particularly technical or skill-based, more like atmospheric.
Well, I Should Build The Man A Statue is pretty bass oriented. Even if it wasn’t 100% Chris, Mr. Markonis did a fantastic job with it.

Edit: lots of other little motifs and elements from other tracks the more I listen. The little "wood block" riff from Rain Formerly Known as Purple @ 0:37, a lot of it overlaid with Through a Cloud...
I literally cannot cease to be amazed at how well you can create a completely new track that blows my mind, while still maintaining the main RoR motif and taking little pieces of your other tracks. Incredible ❤️
This is probably the best one by Chris, it's competing with Once in a lullaby and The raindrop that fell to the sky in emotion, I surely hope that there will be an album commentary for this absolute of a soundtrack
