Finally donating. Your music is special Chris. It truly is and it's changed everyone life so much with the media it's in. I've listened to every single album you've ever released and I listen to many of your songs daily. Me and you have spoken on other songs in the comments and your always so interactive and kind as well. We love you
"November eighth, twenty-two sixty-five. Please state your name for the record." I can only hope the guy who wrote comments on the original Coalescence and Con Lentitud Poderosa will cook up another banger story for this one
After 10 years, the same feeling of the original is there. Feels like though there's more weight to the song, the extra scratches and few punches. It hits, and it hits hard as always. Thanks for the absolute amount of emotions Chris
Without your music, Chris, I don't think Risk of Rain would have been as popular as it is now. It adds so much life to the series, and so do the rest of the songs you create. Thank you.
I've been listening to your music since I discovered Risk Of Rain as a kid in 2013, I love the work and pieces you've been doing. The music you do has unlocked some emotions I didn't know I could feel anymore and I just want to say thank you for all these years.
"I thought of a world without memory, without time; I considered the possibility of a language that ignored nouns, a language of impersonal verbs and indeclinable epithets. Thus the days died and with the days the years, but something similar to happiness happened one morning. It rained, with powerful slowness"
Getting back to the Contact Light again was just... God I cannot even begin to describe how perfect this song is for the final level. The somber beginning really encapsulates the feeling of sifting through the wreckage after a disaster, with the building action as you navigate the violence that's become routine to you, culminating in that final desperate struggle to reach the cockpit as all hell is breaking loose. Hits as hard today as it did 10 years ago.
Thank you for noticing! Some tracks really didn't need much work (eg. Chanson d'Automne), some others needed some adjustments, like the infamous ultra boomy 808 on this one :)
I've made maybe 2 comments on RUclips since I started using it in 2007. Chris, Thank You. You've done more for me and the others here than I can express properly in words. Thanks.
As someone who never played the original, it's a blast to play RoR Returns and hearing the actual song in-game That alongside Chanson d'Automne, which I love because it gave The Rain Formerly Known AS Purple its leitmotif, and the credit song makes this an awesome experience Thank you
Thank you so much for your music. This game meant a lot to me and my friend. I cant express the emotions i feel when i hear your music. So εφαρμογή παρά πολύ, thank you for making something so special.
Truly remarkable, I have major respect for you and the people that do what you do. Risk of rain (and games as a whole) wouldn't be the same without tracks like coalescence. Thank you for your contributions to this series.
just bought the vinyl. when this song came on in my first playthrough of returns i was in shock at how good this sounds. it fits perfectly with the game and it is even better than i remember. i saw the vinyl comes with sheet music and i cant wait to make an arrangement of this song on guitar. thank you for ten years of amazing music chris.
LET'S FRIGGIN' GO! Coalescence is my #1 on Spotify currently, and for good reason. Easily my favorite song. I don't mean to get all sentimental, but this has helped me through big things lately.
This song, I believe, was the first that I ever managed to cry to. Since then, I have found more, but this song in particular manages to HOLD that quality every time. I’m glad to have discovered this song, and franchise. It’s done a lot for me.
This song, alongside "...con lentitud poderosa", theyre the 2 single most powerful songs (emotionally speaking) Ive heard and have yet to be topped (Resistiré by Dúo Dinamico being a close 3rd), I cannot express enough how much I love your music, not physically, not mentally, not in any way other than emotionally Thank you, SO fucking much for the care and love you put into your work
I just feel the need to say, that the moment i saw RoR Returns released i knew the game was gonna be worth it's salt and got it, even as a complete stranger to the series. I've since sank hours into the game and recently got into the second game as well. You're a composer like no other, Chris. You're the greatest reason that I've met this wonderful experience and precisely what makes it so immaculate in it's presentation. If there's one regret i have in life, it's that i didn't get to grow up with the original game from 2013 like so many others here, even though i had the opportunity. Better late than never, i guess! Thank you for the emotions, and please never stop putting your heart and soul on what you love the most ❤
I can't understand just how good this track and Coalescence Returns are. The gameplay of ROR/ROR2/RORR is why people pick it up, but your music is so integral to the series that you're inextricably bound to everyone's fond memories of the games. Thank you for your incredible work you fucking genius.
I really have to say. You just attacked my emotions in positive way. Literally, I love the style how bass percussions rose up. They pierce ma ears like royal capacitor with ten lens-mark's glasses. Coalescence was already perfect before decade, but now. It's truly magnum opus of game soundtrack. I really love both old and new version. Also the coalescence returns too. I can't wait to hear this in game! Horray from korea, for the chris!
This is one of my favorite song of the entire franchise. Contending with it is: They Might as Well be Dead, Once in a Lullaby, Con Lentitud Poderosa, Surface Tension, Chanson d’Automne (I think that’s what it’s called), and The Rain Formerly Known as Purple). Your music is absolutely amazing, and each and every song is just as good the last.
Congratulations for the great job Chirs! One day I was listening to some random musics on youtube music, and i heard this one and recognizes the style and sayd "Hey, it's similar to the Risk of Rain songs", when i checked you were the author, your style is distinct and unique. Nowadays i still hear your musics when I'm working ,driving or just relaxing. Thank you for one of the bests music experiences of my life. This game was a part of my childhood, and I'm happy to see that you are still working with it, and hope it continues this way.
I'm fairly new to the RoR franchise, I started playing 2 a little before Returns released. But let me just say that now, having played both 2 and Returns, that these games are very special to me, and your music is a huge part of that. Nothing will beat the first time I made it to the Contact Light with this track playing, and I regularly listen to the soundtracks on my own time. I guess this is my weird way of saying thank you, and I hope you keep making bangers like this one!
Thanks so much for sharing. Your music has come to mean so much to me, represent some of my highest highs and lowest lows, and seeing me through many tough times. Thank you so much.
I posted this on the original Coalescence, but I'll post it here too because I really like it and also to give a little algorithmic boost. 0:00 You arrive on the Contact Light. "Finally," you think, "almost there." But there's this... other voice. Trying to get your attention, trying to tell you... 0:23 No, no time for that now. Not when you're so close. You soldier on, your steps and gunshots rhythmic enough to keep you alert. Someone's got to survive, after all. 0:45 Is that... Wailing? Moaning? You must've picked up the mask somewhere and forgotten. All those trinkets and baubles, some of them are going to get lost. On top of that, you've been more focused on _staying alive._ 1:06 You're having to move a bit faster, shoot a bit more now. Why don't they want you to leave? Where are they all even coming from? How... How many more will...? 1:27 The wailing is getting louder. Almost like they're following you. They can't be the same ones as before, they _can't_ be. They should've gone away by now. And that voice. Or is this another one, splintered off from the first, multiplying like the Gups? 1:49 Whatever. Just _keep moving._ You _have_ to survive, someone _has_ to carry on the message of what happened here. It doesn't matter how much like iron it smells, it doesn't matter how bumpy the floor has become. Just. _Keep._ *_Going._* 2:10 "Shut UP," You think, "SHUT *_UP!"_* You're running now, angry, adrenaline and panic swelling within you. The monsters have never been this numerous, "Just let me leave, just _let me leave,_ *_please!"_* 2:32 You catch sight of something on the other side of a window. You go to shoot at it, assuming it's another monster. It certainly looks the part. But you stop when you see that _it_ goes to shoot at _you,_ too. In fact, it looks like it... moves when you do. Looking at it closer it... isn't wearing a mask. But there's still an _army_ of ghosts behind it. 2:53 The voice comes back. It's quieter now, but impossible to ignore. And it tells you what you already know. At some point you broke into a sprint. You aren't even bothering to shoot anything anymore, you just want to find the bridge so that you can get _off_ of this planet, so that you can put as much distance as _physically possible_ between you and this, this... The word "Hell" seems apt. 3:57 You forgot about the doors. You start pounding on the controls, shouting, as if it'll make them open faster. But it won't. You have to turn around. There's more coming, and they won't wait. At least, not while they're alive. It seems like for every one you kill, two more take it's place. Whatever is left of You has been shrieking, _howling_ at the horror of what you've done, the realization of what you _are_ now. 4:39 You finally get to the control console. You boot up the launch sequence, and 4:42 When He shows up, something in you snaps. You start screaming, out loud this time. Everything about Him let's you know that He is Judge and Executioner. You know that He's not Jury. You know because you're stained head to toe with the Jury. 5:04 He falls, but it does not bring you relief. You feel in your bones that you've made a terrible mistake. You drop to the floor, clutching the smooth glass that you know now is your head and face. It's outside is slick with blood and gore, and it's inside is hot and wet with tears and sweat. At this point, you aren't sure if it's you or the planet screaming. Or maybe it's both. You don't deserve to scream though. Not now. Not ever again.
I could explain why this song is special to me or why it makes me feel the way it does but to be honest that’s already been said. I just want to thank you Chris.
I loved risk of rain 2 but ive never been huge on 2d games so I wasnt planning on getting risk of rain returns. Yeah im buying it Chris is a master manipulator with these bomb ass tunes
I still remember conversing with you about this song years ago during the original release! Still one of my favorite tracks and the music tactic you used for the constant build up is still so satisfying. 10/10 still one of my favorite composers.
WE MAKING IT OUT PETRICHOR V WITH THIS ONE! Chris, I wanted to let you know that you're the first one to ever make me close my eyes while listening to music. Your style is unique, first time I made it to the last stage in ROR 2013, I swear my soul left my body. Few days ago, the same memory happened. Hope you never stop making this dude. ❤
I discovered the original game only a few days ago, and finished it with a close one, this music was... probably the best moment of this run. Thank you for being a musical god.
This song has fueled my willpower sinceIi first heard it. I love how it tells a story of someone who has been in really tough times but is not willing to give up yet. It really gets that feeling of pure hopefulness, and thats why it has a really deep emotional connection to me. Thank you.
bro chris i cant stress enough how much i love the entirety of the risk of rain franchise ost and how special and good it is and your truly a gift to this community ❤
See, what's really interesting is how I relate to commando in the visuals, because even though 500 enemies are slowly approaching me to anihilate me, I'm vibing to the incredible music
Thank you Chris. You're really talented and honestly have become one of my favorite game composers in recent years and the fact that you made an even BETTER version in Risk 2 just goes to show. I'll never forget these games and their music.
I only just started playing ror back in March of this year and I just wanna say, the music was one of the biggest factors for me coming back for more. Can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t been said already but on behalf of me and all my friends who love ror, thank you Chris.
We may be monsters, but Providence was the catalyst and author of his (and his brother's) own destruction. He was bored and prideful, saw something entering his view that wasn't his and decided to toy with it, to wreck it, to leave it broken and bruised, just because he could. Just goes to show, you always reap what you sow....
@@alias588the way I see it, nobody in the story is either good or evil. Sure, there are bad people, there are good in terms of kindness, but their actions and decisions were not justified nor unjustified. If Mithrix had been a little more open to allowing a bit of life, if Providence hadn't felt absolute rage and locked his brother on the Moon, if the Humans didn't take a random path near Petrichor, if Providence hadn't assumed that the Humans were there to free Mithrix, everything would've been alright. The entire series is just a series of unfortunate events
Well, we, as the player, committed planetary genocide...twice over. If you read all the logs, you can see that outside of our interference, Petrichor V enjoys a mostly peaceful existence, with a lot of its life living out content and fulfilled existences. Our presence was a beacon for that world's life, as Providence (and later Mithrix) painted us as targets to be annihilated at all costs. So we made the cost *everything*, and they were made to pay it. From our perspective it's always about survival. From their perspective, we are the fly in the ointment. Under the directive of their creator(s), we cannot be allowed to live, and we cannot allow them to kill us...and so we commit those acts necessary to allow us to leave. Wiping out life, killing gods, leaving a world barren, a moon deleted from space and time. I like how they wrote the story. If I were in the shoes of the survivor(s), I'd likely feel the same way after all was said and done. I'd have survived, but the price of survival would be too great for anyone to pay.
How I didn't know you remastered it ? I didn't even played much of Risk of Rain but I've been following your music since I heard this beautiful piece of music....I don't even know why but this is one of the most deeply emotional song I've heard to me. I love to write stories about many things, especially creating universes and races and I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it, I'm very particular about what I like to listen to while I'm writing, even searching daily for new songs I only find at most one or two a week. In the end in more than 10 years of writing my playlist is not even 150 songs, this one is my favorite of all of them, I had to skip it sometimes because while it inspired me it was so emotional I sometimes had trouble focusing on writing, it very often makes me cry, I don't really even know why...I don't usually cry with music, it's just very special to me. Thank you, really, you have inspired me to be and get better both in life and in my writing, you have inspired countless words and lines due to how I loved Coalescence, I'm so thankful I have found your work...Thank you. Somehow while I love video games, such as Hollow Knight and What Remains of Edith Finch I still can't love any songs of their soundtrack as much as this particular track, even while loving the game less (Risk of Rain is fantastic, just less my type of game, I could probably try to get more into it with ROR Returns though) the track is just so special, maybe it is also very special to you and that's why it's such a special track or maybe you just struck gold...but I know I'm not the only one, I often hear about this track and can find so many comments who felt deeply while listening those notes, you are a very special composer and this track will be forever my favorite.
Coalescence is one of those songs that will always make me tear up when I hear it, and I don't even have any sorta experience to tie it too, aside from the game itself- hearing it during that last stage, knowing something didn't feel quite right.. I had to plug in my headphones just to make sure Coalescence was the only thing I could hear

Yeah. The game itself is good, but the music makes me want to vibe to the game instead of getting frustrated by the bullet sponges. It is so good.

What a great song with a very emotionally moving buildup!!
One of the best things I've ever heard, thankyou!!
The perfect song...
You're the man Chris!
The layering on this song is so breathtakingly dynamic. Thank you, Chris, for this sonic feast.
This has always been my favorite song of yours, it gives me chills. Awesome work, as always.
This song is like a melancholic hope
GLUE...
GLUE ON THE ROACH...
Finishing the game and hearing this almost made me cry ngl. Awesome game and incredible music
I still remember conversing with you about this song years ago during the original release! Still one of my favorite tracks and the music tactic you used for the constant build up is still so satisfying. 10/10 still one of my favorite composers.
Glue.
On da roach.
glue. glue on da roach.
i love listening to Coalescence so seeing it get a remaster brings me much joy
WE MAKING IT OUT PETRICHOR V WITH THIS ONE!
Chris, I wanted to let you know that you're the first one to ever make me close my eyes while listening to music. Your style is unique, first time I made it to the last stage in ROR 2013, I swear my soul left my body. Few days ago, the same memory happened. Hope you never stop making this dude. ❤
This song really coalesces in my heart.
Thank you so much.
I discovered the original game only a few days ago, and finished it with a close one, this music was... probably the best moment of this run.
Thank you for being a musical god.
"And his music was Electric 🎸"
SO glad you are here for Risk Of Rain Returns!
I'm changing everyone's favorite musics by showing them your musics. You are legend.
Thanks for spreading the word! Much appreciated!
Always a pleasure, Chris.
THE COALESCENCE TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THE COALESCENCE TWO IS REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
The build-up of these percussion instruments...just fantastic.
An incredible being who have a prophecy to furfill. The Legend himself Chris Christodoulou.
Such an amazing experience. Going through it all again after almost 10 years for me is something truly special. Thank you Chris, love ya
holy crap this dudes music is fricking electric
WE'RE HAVING DEEP "AM I THE MONSTER" MOMENTS WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️
We may be monsters, but Providence was the catalyst and author of his (and his brother's) own destruction. He was bored and prideful, saw something entering his view that wasn't his and decided to toy with it, to wreck it, to leave it broken and bruised, just because he could.
Just goes to show, you always reap what you sow....
UH OH! Annoying child in sight!
@@weirdooftheyeardawg seriously? calling me an annoying child but posting a comment like this? damn
I'd have survived, but the price of survival would be too great for anyone to pay.
so much dopamine this game is in the top ever created thank you so much keep the good work
A Coalescence remaster oh my god amazing!!
Screaming, crying, throwing up ❤🎉
Chris, you just know EXACTLY how to make your music fire every neuron in my brain, man. This never gets old!
Chris, you are the reason that risk of rain is one of my favorite game franchises. Keep up the amazing work, I’m stoked for Seekers Of The Storm!!
One of my favourite video game songs of all time. Fantastic work - well done.
Cant wait for next year and have the vinyl on my hands!!! ❤
fantastic piece
in a world where character don't speak. Music have to speak instead. You did that so well
As usual one of the best video game soundtracks ive heard cant wait to see more from you
Coalescence is one of those songs that will always make me tear up when I hear it, and I don't even have any sorta experience to tie it too, aside from the game itself- hearing it during that last stage, knowing something didn't feel quite right.. I had to plug in my headphones just to make sure Coalescence was the only thing I could hear
