  • Sorry for the "um"s and "uh"s, I was really nervous.
In this video, I stray away from talking about detransition and introduce my mental illness.
If you or someone you love is struggling with mental illness, please reach out to NAMI.
    Here are some great RUclipsrs:

Thanks for being so open and honest. It’s a topic many people don’t want to discuss. There is nothing wrong with seeking help for mental and/or medical conditions. I’m glad you found support and a medication that works for you.
Important point you made about how recreational drugs can bring on a mental health issue. Sending all good thoughts to you.

Bless you for taking your difficulties in life and using them to help others. A great conversation with Erin Brewer also!

That whole area of disorders is fascinating, and its effects can play such a huge part in your life. Good to hear that you have friends that care deeply for you in times of trouble. And the slog of working through medications that you speak of is something I've seen a few times in multiple people and if you feel your current setup is moving you in the right direction, good for you. I hope for all the best.

For some reason RUclips was unhappy about putting this whole message in just one comment, so here is the rest.
I really recommend LIving Well's video "Rob's Experience Supporting Lauren Through Hospitalization" for outsiders it describes the experience of those of us who are one or two steps removed. Insightful videos for the individual as well as friends and family, their network.
As for the trans link, it seems there is considerable overlap. Swedish data allows for comparison with F2 diagnoses and the rate at their gender clinics was 5x society at large. GIDS data was similar, 5x rates of psychotic issues. The autism numbers get a lot of press - and for good reason - but there is definitely something to look about with regards other areas, like this, as well.
Insightful and worthwhile video, as usual. Good stuff.

@@jlcederblom7470 That's really interesting about the overlap. As I said in the video, even in my small exposure with the schizophrenia community, I've come across several people who also identified as trans, usually mtfs. I didn't know the research supported this, though.
And, yes, Living Well is great and has a lot of good info for people adjacent to schizophrenia. I'm planning follow-up videos to talk about my own experience with hospitalization and more in-depth about medication and therapy.
Thank you for your support and kindness. I hope I can continue talking about hard topics and that it might give insight to some.
