      Your Caribbean dna is American Indian the original tribes there are Taino not Hispanic as this is the dna of the original natives who came to the islands from Central and South America 7000 years ago. Today only 62% of Puerto Ricans carry this dna of the people Columbus first called Indians.

    Hey I’m Ethiopian and when ur girlfriend guessed Ethiopian I honestly was like no way... not because of any physical tells but only because of the history. Ethiopia was never really colonized(occupied by Italy for 5yrs in the late 1930s is the closest we’ve come).... our history with slavery isn’t really related to the Americas/Europe but rather with the Arab slave trade. If an American has Ethiopian blood statistically speaking it has to be pretty recent.... like only a couple of generations. I saw a pic of ur dad on the vid u did with ur mom telling their story(one of the sweetest vids I’ve every seen btw) and he did look very Ethiopian in retrospect. I’m honestly curious as to when in ur family history that happened.... pretty cool and definitely rare.

    • @RosalindGash
      @RosalindGash 3 года назад +3

      It's not as rare as you think it is. The Trans-Atlantic and the Arab & Indian Ocean slave trades reached far more places, and sometimes overlapped, than we were taught in school. Black Americans, including myself, are finding that we have DNA from places that are not traditionally associated with the slave trade.

      He's probably not really Ethiopian. That particular test is mostly designed for Asians (they have mostly Asian/Eurasian samples) and generally works best for Asian ancestry. They probably don't have many African samples (their number of West Afrixan samples may be bery small). African Americans do not have Ethiopian ancestry (or almost never, and if they do it's very little). Their ancestry is mostly west African and west central African. If he took the tests from AncestryDNA or 23andme (for insrance) the result likely would be very different.

    • @Jeremy-sj3pr

    • @skellagyook
      @skellagyook 3 года назад +1

      @@Jeremy-sj3pr I don't think so. He never mentioned that. His dad was African American. The test is probably not great for African ancestry. (He should try 23andMe, AncestryDNA, FamilyTreeDNA, LivingDNA, etc.).

    WOW! This is so cool. I am tempted to take a DNA test now. I am from Trinidad (a Caribbean island) and I am mixed with Chinese, Spanish, African, Scottish, Native American Indian (based on my family's make up). It would be great to see that breakdown like what you guys did. At the end of the day, people are more mixed than they think they are. Learning about your past like this helps break certain societal preconceptions. We are after all human at the end of the day. Great video guys! Love the chemistry!

    Cool facts: Just because DNA doesn't appear in the results, experts say that doesn't mean it's not there, it simply means that, there's not enough percentage that could be counted, according to their percentile calculations. Wow, Skycedi, you are a beautiful mix of it all, I love it! You two are competitive {in a good way, with one another}, and sweet... as relationships mature you all will vibe, and balance together. No disrespect, she seems more energized and you seem more patient, and calm. Very interesting video! I'm 3 quarters Taiwanese-Chinese and one quarter white. My mom is half-Taiwanese and half-white (her mom immigrated to Canada from the UK.) I look half-white half-Chinese so almost everyone guesses that I'm "something else." But my 3 siblings all look very Asian. No one has ever guessed that they are one quarter white. In my younger years I flipflopped back and forth between wishing I looked only Taiwanese and being grateful that my looks reflect my other heritage. I HATED being treated differently than my siblings by other Asians. My siblings were fully accepted as Asians but I was considered "the other" by both Asians and white people. I didn't look like I fully fit in with either group. What made it so difficult for me and my siblings is that we are also Jewish!!!! My mom's maternal side of the family is Jewish. My Taiwanese grandfather skipped out on my Ashkenazi-British-Canadian grandmother shortly after she realized she was pregnant (they were dating, not married) and a year and a half after my mom was born, my grandmother remarried my Jewish grandmother. So my half-Taiwanese mom was raised by two Ashkenazi Jews. My siblings look completely Chinese and I look at least half-Chinese, but we were born and raised Jewish!!! So me and my siblings have a LOT of identities. We are Ashkenazi Jews with British heritage, we are Taiwanese, and we are Canadian.

      Your parents have 100% genes and each one can only give you 50% so even twins can be just slightly different. If you want a clar idea of your lineage it is best thst your parents and siblings take the test too. Of yiur parents' dna some may not pass to you or your siblings but it is still part of your lineage. Also these DNA tests only look at a particular set of markers when there are gazillions more that they don't look at

I get from strangers "Are you adopted?" to the point of asking my parents followed by telling me that I look like I'm Filipino, Some chinese, Samoan or something else to the point of thinking her friend was my father. They mention that my brother looks Dominican and Cuban. Mind you, he spoke Portuguese when he was a little toddler. My mother used to tell me this story all the time and I was one of the people that could understand him as well as another stranger. So yeah, would love to get this one done. @@steper471 Mine has changed considerably. Originally, I was 44% Cameroon/Congo and 3% Nigerian, part Finnish & Russian, Irish, Iberian, Native American, several other African countries, the Caucuses (sp?) Region, and East Asia. Now it claims I'm 48% Nigerian, Scottish, Native American, a bunch of African countries. I want to try a different test.

      I don't think I've ever seen a red-headed Spaniard or Portuguese person but it makes sense. I believe Celts from Iberia migrated to Britain and Ireland, hence why red hair is commonly associated with Irish and Scottish people (correct me if I'm wrong).

    • @iamredventure
      @iamredventure 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I have Spanish ancestry in my DNA, slight hints of red hair in my hair and beard. I encourage you to look it up. Many Spaniards have red hair, or green eyes, or both. Not the majority, but still prevalent.

      The majority of Spanish and Portuguese people do not have red hair. The small number of the ones that do only have it because they possess Celtic DNA-so they are actually a mix of Celtic and Spanish/Portuguese

    The Latin American part doesn't make sense because the break down would be Native America, European and African. I would try ancestry.com. Ancestry may not breakdown the Asian part but it could definitely give you more information about any Native American, European and African. It seems like this company is giving you a horoscope like result. I have had ancestry dna test about 8 years ago. My results have changed drastically as more people have had the test done.

      Peggy Royster:. They would tell you themselves that they are not 100% accurate. I had mine done by Ancestry DNA almost three years ago and my African countries percentages have changed drastically over that time. They tell you that as more people are tested the better the accuracy they can attain. So I expect mines to continue to be updated as more people are tested.

    There's a lot of Native American (Indian) - both mixed & unmixed - peoples found in the populations of Mexico (Aztec Tribe*) & Peru (Mayan Tribe*); &, the same might be true with some of those other countries.
    * = There are other tribes as well in each of these countries, but these two were very large tribes that are well known.

    I believe that the databases used are of people who have already had their DNA tested and the results go into the database along with where they currently live. Your results means that there are people with DNA that matches segments of your DNA who were living in these places currently.

    If she could get her dad (or a brother/half-brother from the same father, if she has one) to take a Y-DNA test, then she might find that the red hair came from her Russian side via Scandinavia (some Scandinavians had red hair - like Eric the Red - & Scandinavians traveled to - & even ruled parts of - Ireland & Scotland; & the name Russ means Red & refers to the Scandinavians that took over the land we now call Russia).
    Basic DNA tests only go back about 300-to-500 years, whereas Chromosomal DNA tests (like Y-DNA & M-DNA tests) can trace back many thousands of years (but only along a narrow path of Father-to-Father or Mother-to-Mother respectively).

    I still wonder what is criteria to to indicate percentage. For example, the result shows two percents Singaporean. What this means?
    Is this means DNA has two percents of people originated in Singapore? Then look at people in Singapore, you find Chinese, Malay, Indian etc. Then it's hard to know this two percents means.
    What is real Singaporean look like?
    Or think this two percents means the tested person share two percents of DNA with people in Singapore. The testing company has data from people who already test with company and declared he/she is Singaporean or use the mail location in Singapore. If this is the case, the data base the company used is questionable because the person who declare Singaporean has mixed race too.
