Excellent. So delighted that this is now out and available to the man in the street. Have a grandson who has been labeled with ADD and is on Ritalin..😢 my heart goes out to him. Feel for the first time that there is hope for him. Thank you Dr Leaf

Shes probably right in cases of over diagnosis.
But her data is outdated. Neurologist have found the biological basis of ADHD. Basically parts of the brain are delayed in development. Studies show that children with adhd have less brain mass until their brain catches up in development. Essentially their developmental process is slowed down.
And the other element is that the default node network and the task oriented networks don't trade off activity levels correctly. Hense why someone with adhd are often inattentive. Their brain is litterally doing something else other than processing the information that is being attempted to focus on.
I'm currious to hear more. But she needs to update this section in order to make it more accurate and respond to the current information avilable.

Yes funny that right, I was listening to Dr Russell Barkley (a leader in the field) the other day and he was talking about brain imagining how we are getting better with identifying specific areas in which adhd brains have different neuro networks. They think we are only 3-5 years from having the technology to actually use these scans as part of the diagnostic process.
Secondly it’s not a ‘learning disability’ it’s a developmental disorder!! Like ASD it’s the way the brains networks work, implying it’s not real is like telling us we aren’t trying hard enough or our brains are broken and we should fix them!!
I’m not saying adhd isn’t over diagnosed, it well could because a lot of professionals are lacking in knowledge and the diagnostic criteria is so narrow and doesn’t account for the biggest symptom - emotional disregulation. It is real and has a huge impact on life and overall health and life expectancy.
Having quality understanding of how pervasive this condition is has been empowering for me after finally fighting tooth and nail to be diagnosed as an adult (it was not easy, I kept being blown off as anxious, being told smart people can’t have adhd!). Now I know how my brain works and no longer have to fight against it or do things the neurotypcial way and then be guilty and shameful when I fail. It has brought forgiveness and kindness. Dealing with the adhd has also helped to work on all the other work around trauma.
I agree with her other research about the brain and emotional processing but these assumptions about ADHD are disgusting addressing one symptom ‘hyperactivity’ (which not all have). I hope she updates her knowledge and listens to the experiences especially for adults with ADHD and current professionals in the field. This has totally put me off using her processes. Her discussions on this are dangerous, they perpetuate the stereotype of the little boy who can’t sit still.
Make me wonder what her thoughts are on actual learning disabilities like dyslexia and dyscalculia?

Knowing that there are 100s of research papers being published every single day inside one`s field, and that it is hard enough to try to stay updated on all of such. On top of that, then to attempt to become & stay up-to-date on something else that is not in the most direct sense relevant to one` s own , will become for most an overwhelming, and thus not easily nor readily undertaken task. I believe this is forming part of the reason why you are not handling this subject as well as you could.

Ya, I'm not sure how outdated her information is at the time of making this video.

Ya, someone suggested her material and it sounded like an interesting approch. But she way overextends it to everything.
Shes basically saying you just need to lift weights the right way to strengthen your amputated limbs and they will just regrow on their own.
Not really exsagerating cause adhd is caused by underdevelopment of specific brain regions.
Ya lifting weights can be amazing to strengthen your body and deal with injuries caused by lack of support and strength. But it can't regrow limbs.

@@varrantgreen4259 true. I should know, for I am both blessed & cursed with it. And indeed I do. Now, technically speaking (as they say), the text introducing the video, reads: "I have worked with many people misdiagnosed with ADD & ADHD".
