TesseracT - Hexes (featuring Martin Grech), live in the Studio for exquisite ear candy and superb harmonies between the two Singers. Also: Leprous - Castaway Angels - The Voice of Einar Solberg will melt your heart, the drumming of Baard Kolstad will keep it pumping.
Agreed! Shouldn't stop at Castaway Angels either... Nighttime Disguise is also fun vocally, not to mention something from The Congregation, like Slave!
Sean here, I am here, too! Thanks so much for the lovely stream and analysis! It was a lot of fun to see how you felt about one of my favorite songs of the past year. :)
Several vocal expert channels have checked this one out lately...I only wish it had been a few months ago when the album came out! This band deserves more attention, and Daniel Tompkins should certainly be known as one of the best singers in metal right now.
Agreed. I'd say there's a fair argument that he's one of the best singers, full stop. Having seen the War of Being live show, he didn't miss a beat, and hit everything. Incredible.
@@maniacunboundno puedo esperar por ver la interpretación en vivo de ésta INCREÍBLE canción. Si así me enchina la piel, en vivo se que me va a explotar la cabeza!❤
I was really surprised by how few Spotify listeners they have. They’re one of the OG prog metal bands for this style, I think they’re been around since ‘03. I know they play huge festivals and tour regularly but I still feel like they deserve more recognition. Amazing live band also.
They’re absolutely incredible. Love how their sound has evolved. It’s changed enough to sound fresh, but it’s still undeniably Tesseract. Most recent album is stupid good!
You are a genuinely talented teacher and instructor. I was bullied for my deep voice as a kid but your videos give me confidence in my own uniqueness. One day I hope to sing a song in front of a crowd and your videos are getting me closer to that. Thank you!
The algorithm sent me here because I think TesseracT is awesome and this track is one of the best from the past year, and while this will sound snobbish, I am SO GLAD to finally see a "musician reactor for musicians"! I've lost count of the vocal coaches or singers or musicians who never sing or play a note, miscount every time signature, and ask to hear in the comments "what instrument is that?!" when it's something every 6th-grade band student knows. I'm not exactly looking for a Rick Beato breakdown of the stems in every reaction, but if someone is going to use bona fides to draw in views, at least show them every once in a while. Subscribed!
I've never watched you analyze something so prog-y before and it was a nice change of pace. Thanks for your great attitude and depth of knowledge and infectious warmth as always =)
I'd consider him one of the best in metal as a whole right now. His ability to extend through multiple ranges and techniques and sound so incredible and crisp is honestly such a treat.
@@RAGINGTomato10Dan and Marcus (Invent Animate) are my 2 favorite vocalists in prog/metalcore right now, they both have that same kind of ability and texture.

Idk why this didn't pop up in my feed until now. I'm so glad you checked this one out. I have close to the same reaction every listen. It still blows my mind and brings a tear to my eye. Dan is something else, as are youuuuu. Thank you.
Ive listened to this song well over 200 times, and am still brought to tears at that climax. Another must watch is Hexes with Martin Grech. Absolutely outstanding performance
You'll have to check out War of Being from the same album. More aggressive, but again, the things Dan does with his voice is just insane. Awesome video too!
That last bit you answered for me in a stream and now I get the direct understanding. Thank you again! Also, if you listen to the first half of this album, by this song’s point, I was in full cry mode and then this song just broke the dam on the waterworks. I’ve loved Tesseract for almost 20 years, so seeing you react is a big deal for me. :)
Thanks for this analysis. I’ve been listening to TesseracT for about a decade but this album is a whole new level of awesome for them. I saw them a couple of weeks ago here in Australia and they’re just as amazing live. 😊
I love Dan's voice for years now but I think this album is his biggest moment so far. Can you PLEASE react to October Ends? Nick's voice is definitely one of the best in the scene if not the best. He's honestly insanely good especially on Damaged, DARK and End Up Dead. Please react to these!!!
This band has been around for 20 years, one of the OG of Djent genre before Djent was a thing. Do check out their song April, my first and favourite song of theirs.
Thanks for doing Legion from TesseracT. IMHO, that's their greatest masterpiece on this album. Amazingly, Dan can more or less hold up to these ridiculously complicated tonal changes even live.
I've never thought about Legion before in terms of economy of, well I'm not even sure what to call it. Something adjacent to economy of motion, the efficiency of each bar of music maximizing feeling and impact. It definitely takes a kind of genius to compressed something so epic into such a short time and have no wasted moments. I love the metaphor of the video being a pilot in this ship, alone, strapped in, and hurtling faster and faster, through the danger, turbulence threatening the integrity of the vessel, all the warning lights going off, to just barely make it out the other side in one piece. Earthside - Let The Truth Speak (feat. Daniel Tompkins & Gennady Tkachenko-Papizh). You're welcome.
Daniel Tompkins did a sublime cover of Chaka Khan's Aint Nobody. Definitely worth checking out. Also shout out to Jon Gomm for the percussive acoustic guitar arrangement
Back in 2013, they did an album with a different singer called Altered State that is just perfection. No shade on Dan, but I like him more outside of metal. Check out Tempest by White Moth Black Butterfly. It is gorgeous. There's an official video that's also wonderful.
If you haven't heard Chris Kläfford from Sweden. Then you have missed something. And if you choose to react to this incredible singer. Do a live performance ❤ Ohh and Tommy Johansson - You raise me up (1 octave challenge)
that was COOL I am not very familiar with these guys, but they're great! thanks for the intro to them! kinda prog, electronica...maybe a slight touch of new wave in there...COOL
Could you please react to the new ALCEST - L'Envol ? Not sure about vocal techniques and such but Neige has a beautiful voice and it's an all around beautiful song and video.
Speaking of epic prog metal tracks, Tesseract- War of Being on the same album certainly fits the bill. A saga of musical proportions with stunning visuals to boot...
If you enjoyed the drumming that much, check out Jay Postones (drummer) own RUclips channel! I just stumbled upon it a couple of days ago, and it’s really good! I’m not a drummer by any means myself, but the way he explains how to think about odd time signatures and polyrhythms is so very intuitive and understandable. Also, just amazing playing in his examples!
Hey Lolli! Long time viewer here. I’ve always appreciated your energy and I hope you’re doing well cuz sometimes you seem a bit down and unfortunately as you know being highly empathetic has a dark side. Anyways, I am curious what your thoughts are on Metal after having been exposed to genre in a big way. Because of your intellect, strong empathy and passion for music and humans being awesome I think it would be really interesting to hear your perspective on music and its progression in a more general sense. Doesn’t have to be metal specific that’s only my preference. Do you think that is a fun video idea for you? 👋🏻
Interesting, not heard much from them before what I did was a bit mediocre compared to this. I do know that Hexes and Leprous are both amazing, both best from live performances! As always I love the detail you go into, it’s just so interesting!
No offense to anyone, I like TesseracT, but when he started going from 1:08, it sounded like someone stuck something up you know what and he went all "ooow, oooow, eeooooowwwwww". :D Please forgive me lol. Love this song, it's a journey. It's not just the vocals(least fav part as you can tell), just like in Sleep Token, everything here is crafted beautifuly! 2:31 I love this XD That's how I'm pronouncing this band from now on. But, sing song is most probably the "Sing for Absolution", but in prog metal.
