Hello, gorgeous! I'm Lolli, your Fairy Voice Mother. I am a voice teacher & vocal anatomy nerd specialising in contemporary techniques. He is screaming, but what you can't see is he has a backup screamer in IV. They layer at the lives. It's so so good.
My favorite videos are where the sound is clear enough and balanced so that you can hear vessel doing the high fry scream. Its tasty.

The screaming in the end was done only by Vessel, but at the beginning it is heard that he had backing vocals that were credited to the guitarist IV, IV is much louder than Vessel's screamer. And if both scream high fry, the only difference is that IV is much louder (it's almost like Vessel is backing vocal on the screaming section), while to me Vessel screaming reminds me of hissing
hope vessel's technique gets better and we can hear some healthy screams and growls
Yeah IV’s screams are legit. Gods off Sundowning is his display of power. Just guttural. The closest to a scream vessel does which I’m not even sure is him, is on Sugar off Sundowning.

I have a tiny obsession with the last "are you in pain like I am" on this recording because it's so VISUAL. He falls to the ground, beats the screams out and then throws it to the ground. Like you can hear the pain but he's like Imma make you see it too. It's crazy how emotive a person can be when you can't even see their face.
I feel Vessel's crazy moves on stage is to look like he's performing a dance ritual for the god Sleep, following the lore. Even seeing Vessel dressed up on stage gives me shaman vibes or maybe he's supposed to represent a spirit. Deep vibes, very cool to see added on top of a good musical act for sure. 👻👍
He gets so into it he has to move around. Like he gets the spirit and just has to balter about. It's cute
Tim Minchin says that he started to put eyeliner on because he realized he couldn't use his hands to express himself during his act, so he looked for another way. This is the opposite, because Vessel is masked his hands are so expressive, at least it seems to me.
I love watching live recordings of Sleep Token. Vessel is honestly such a goober while on stage.
the screams include IV making them sound so much louder lol he absolutely carries it live! IV is absolutely amazing at screaming, Vessel is much more low, its more difficult to hear them both from the recordings, so much easier actually seeing them in person. in other songs you can definitely hear the differences of when Vessel is screaming and when IV is screaming since its difficult to hear Vessel's screams in the live recordings of Vore!
the part where you can really hear only Vessels screams is when he's doing the "Are you in pain like I am?" portion
This is my favorite Sleep Token song and I was so excited to see that you picked my favorite live video of this song. He sounds so good in this video. I'd rather listen to this song live than recorded. The lyrics of this song are so amazing. Vessel is so talented.

im so obsessed with this song, my throat gets sore just remembering how hard i screamed when i was watching live!!! an important note for the live performance for this song specifically is that the guitarist i believe? supplements vessels screams with his own!! which is why you get to hear that low growl and the high fry together :) i think its vessel doing most of the fries and the guitarist doing a lot of the gutturals?? either way theyre just on a whole other level !!!
My favorite Sleep Token song is one of their older ones.

I've seen them live twice, and out of the countless gigs I've been to (mostly metal), the crowd at ST has been the loudest, my singy alongest of anyone I have ever seen. It is beyond lovely hearing nearly every single person in the audience lend their voice.
not only that but they know every single song note for note its crazy
I believe the main voice you hear on the screams is actually the guitar player but he isn't shown doing it in this video
Yep, IV helps with the screaming in this song and has a part in Rain as well, he sounds great
On the album Vessel does all the vocals, guitars, bass, synths, piano. The drummer plays the drums and creates all the beats

I love how technical you react to Sleep Token songs and teach how it's done at the same time. You dissect every song and find easter eggs which I wouldn't have heard even though I've listened to their songs multiple times. Thank you, greatly appreciate this

In so happy you mentioned sound engineers and you’re absolutely right. They take all the shit when stuff sounds off but noone bats an eye when it sounds really good.
Without a good sound engineer there would be no good concerts. It’s just how sound works.

It seems you and I have a similar mindset. I’ve been waiting for Lolli’s Sleep Token journey to continue. I’m so obsessed that I had to buy guaranteed reactions to the last three songs of the album. The thought of Lolli possibly not reacting to those songs was unbearable. :)

As far as I know it's not just Vessel screaming but also the guitarist.
The lower screaming is IV the guitarist and the higher, quieter fry is Vessel
I don’t know about on the album but when I have seen them live vessel and four do the screams together except for the last verse/chorus is only vessel

I saw Sleep Token live in Detroit last year, they were unbelievable live, in my most definitely unprofessional opinion it was very close to their albums
Though I love the live version I still feel the studio version is a bit more clearer at parts the one thing though about the live version is how much more intimate it is.
This song was jarring at first, but it grows on you as hell.
Yup as a metal fan it wasn't actually my favorite at the start and the more I listened to it, the more I love it.

This is probably the one band I implore people to not watch for the first time live. They don’t play big shows, therefore the live videos are all people in the crowd with phones and it doesn’t sound nearly as good

The only nitpicky complaint I have is that, for me personally, I feel that Vessel has a somewhat awkward stage presence but it’s difficult to pinpoint why that is though. I mean, it’s sleep token so that might be intentional for all we know lol But other than that - absolutely flawless.

My one thing is people rave about certain bands like sleep token, bad omens and all these other bands. My point is there is a lot of ther metal vocalists who can scream and sing like this is if not even better. Take howard jones for instance. In my opinion he is way better than this.

I am all about freedom for self expression etc and to each his own but in my opinion this is not really music. It's more like... a really ugly noise.
Umm..it's literally music. Maybe you should look up what music actually is? I promise you this follows all the formulas.
Music isn't just what you define it as, its an expression of the artists that create it. Sleep token can cover every expression from this which is heavier and a bit more brutal, to something like Ascensionism which is more ethereal and beautiful.

I think you would have been better off saying scream vocals aren’t your thing. That’s fine. Saying it isn’t music and it’s ugly noise is a bit of an insult to the artists. Personally I much prefer music to be ugly as long as it’s passionate as opposed to neat and clean and soulless like so many pop songs can be.
She did preface her comment with “in my opinion”. Everyone gets to decide for themselves what’s noise and what’s music. I can disagree with the opinion but still respect their viewpoint
