I wish I would have found this channel before, yet I'm glad I finally found it. For the Conga chops AND the Salsa chops. Stoked to polish my Boricua basics. Jajajaja
This video brings simple fire to thawing Germany! I am just sitting here, waiting for the right time that neighbors won't complain about the nighttime dumping and seek to try out what you show here. Fantastic, you bring so much passion and it is refreshing to get all your spirit when everyone here around is still freezing. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. I am a high school band director and want to add more latin music in my jazz ensembles. This is invaluable for my learning so I can teach my students better. Thank you!
I hope you have the opportunity to look at this comment because I want to tell you that you are one of the best conga teachers I have found. Your instructions are clear and, for me, counting out the rhythm really helps. I have also learned a lot of variations of the tumbao both from your instruction and just by watching you play. I would say my playing has improved a lot by watching you and I hope you have the chance to make more videos. Thanks for such great instruction
cansuarez1 Muchas gracias por tu comentario. Thank you! I agree: I didn't have videos like this, not even books, but I was lucky and I had good teachers... Please feel free to share the videos and the information. Thank you. Edgardo.
Cant believe I've only just found you. I've been playing for years and picked up some bad habits. Just spent the best part of the afternoon ironing them out. This exercise is so well explained, broken down and built back up again. Its a dream to beginners as well as people like me that have basically learnt street style. Thank you so much your style and ability is humbling :)
Finally getting a good conga on thursday. Cant wait to start following your lessons. I had an old lp aspire a long time ago but it was an odd size and i couldnt find a replacement head for it. Now im getting an lp whiskey barrel conga in a good size. Hope someday to make my own.

I’ve come back to this video after a few years practice - I wonder how many others have slowed down that magic 40 seconds of guaracha tempo rhythm (1:45 - 2:25) to learn those cool variations that Edgardo plays - really worth doing, IMHO😀. Thanks again maestro!🙏🎶🪘🪘🪘
Thank you San.... Slowing things down to learn them correctly is the way to go! I use an application (audio only) called Amazing Slow Downer, on my phone,. and I use it in my private classes as well as when I need to figure out something that I want to learn from a song or rudiment. Thanks for your nice comment. Until next. Keep the good drumming!
@@Eddysuconga I love your videos. If you don't know, you can also use Reaper, the audio production software, to slow down and loop video clips, and it has a free demo mode for anyone facing financial challenges. It's excellent for learning music from video.
My dad just bought some congas so we could learn how to play together. Your videos have been so helpful and easy for me to follow! I grew up listening to salsa music so it was really cool to start learning how to play a rythm that I have heard so many times. :)
Wow! Pure gold my friend. A true master class in tumbao, and it's only lesson number 2. This is literally months of material for a beginner to start to understand, but, so clear and utterly musical. Your singing of the band parts and clave or bell make a world of difference. Salute!
+Earthshakingmusic Thank you! We're happy to provide these video tutorials on RUclips! Please be sure to subscribe to our youtube channel for more great video lessons!
I'm a piano player but need to play congas on a tune and bongos on another tune so I bought some and came here to learn how to play them. This instruction is so perfectly clear. Thank you Edgardo! Went to your website too! Great stuff - will play it at salsa time this weekend!
Only just started playing conga and these videos have made it so simple and fun to play. Love the clear break down and delivery of your instructions. Excellent teaching! Thank you.
Im studying via your videos ...just got my congas ...and i thought i couldnt ever play this instrument but im actually getting the sounds...and the tumbao . Great Stuff your doing here!!
The Man is right on point! Great instructor. The slow break down helps to develop proper technique and application.Listen and learn... Fantastic presentation.thank you Sir.
