Don't you have 200AHrs of lithium on the most sophisticated battery management system known to mankind? Why would you be running critical systems off a 10AHr battery that you cannot effectively recharge in the field? ...call me confused.
As someone who often backpacks where the night temperature will drop below freezing, your campsite choice, while beautiful, looks cold being out in the open next to water. Definitely warmer under the pines. Must be nice having a heater. Stay mostly safe this winter.
Wow. I love all of your videos but this one I needed at this moment. The serenity, the beauty, the quiet, the night sky. Unbelievable. I so wish I was there. For the life of me I don’t understand why so many want to live their lives in an urban concrete jungle. They have absolutely no idea what living really is. I live in Utah and can’t spend enough time in the outdoors, alone. It is so good for the soul and mind.
BC is such an awesome place. A couple of buddies and I decided to drive south to Oregon from Ketchikan AK via the Prince Rupert ferry many years ago. A couple or three days trip mapped. It took us two weeks. We kept on seeing lakes and gravel roads on the map that we had to explore. Little communities where the Labatt Blue on tap ran free also held us up a bit. More fun than I can even explain.
You know boss, I gave up on my truck not too long ago. I stopped caring about basically everything. But watching ya'll hit the trails and do what you've been doing gave me some damn motivation I haven't had in a long while. I've started making my 2nd gen ram into a budget build overlander (for minor/moderate trails). Thanks boss, I'm 3 hours from moab, hopefully by next year I'll see ya'll on the trail.
Glad you’re up and about, Shaun! Lol, that was a seriously cold camping trip! Good shakedown of the new heater. Looking forward to seeing your solution to the power issue.
Absolutely beautiful video! I love these snow-filled scenes especially! I'm so glad your feeling better .... And I love the lil remote control Jeep. 🚙👍
My husband and I have been camping and exploring (dirt bikes) snow in Idaho definitely slows us down a little. Grateful for your beautiful videos to get us through the bitter side of winter.
Another great adventure, winter camping is what separates the real outdoors people from the weekend cityidots . Truck is going to be unstoppable on 40’’ can’t wait to see it.
Love it. Great you're feeling better. I do a few trips out into the mountains at about -14c or lower and remember the feeling. Great production qualities on your stuff. Missing my 4x4 now!
Fantastic episode as always Shaun. Every time I watch one I think "I need to plan a trip to go wheeling with Shaun." And then I remember how dangerous that is not only because I'd need to plan a week of travel to/from but mainly because I'd be requesting Canadian citizenship about 2 hours into the adventure :-) Keep up the good work my friend!
Great to have you back and feeling better Shaun and where you camped. the scenery was absolutely outstanding. I knew the heater would find it tough in those temps.
I'll never cease being envious of the land that you have access to out there. Your camera skills make mine look like a 5 year old with an etch-a-sketch.
Kudos, Shaun. I know folks who have gone to school for cinematography and filmmaking and I dare say they couldn’t do a better job. Well done as always. Glad to be a subscriber.
I doubt Shaun will see this, but: if you drape a Mylar blanket over a wind screen like the one he put up and another behind you against the Jeep, The one in front will reflect heat at your front and the one behind you will reflect off the Jeep at your back. For something that takes up so little space, they really work wonders for you around the camp fire. IMO, it's a cheap simple addition to any cold weather camp site. $.02
After seeing this video, I got encouraged to actually camp by myself in the snow. I've been snow camping almost every weekend there is snow on the ground for 10 years. It just seems that the older I get, the more people don't want to do it and I am forced to go to a paid campsitee instead of the trip I Want. Thanks for the inspiration! :) It's okay to go it alone fi you come prepared for every situation and you have the skill and knowledge to get out alone, too.
Great to see you back on your feet again and for opening my eyes to more of the beautiful country around me. I hope the Xmas/ New year brings you a sponsorship from a Butcher:)
Always a joy to watch your videos... especially the solo adventures... I can't wait until spring so I can do some camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota...solo of course... need a good reset
I love watching your channel, i am slowly building an overland 99 2-door tahoe to maybe one day make that trip, as a single father and struggling it seems impossible but i am trading my powder coatings for parts trying to build my dream. Thank you for the adventures ❤️💪
At 8:51 reminds me of an incident here in Alberta one day. Same ice pond but perhaps a little thicker ice went through on way out no issues. Coming back a larger chunk of ice fractured my brake line near the chassis anchor point. Long story short - McLean Creek to my place in Calgary with no brakes except engine and hand braking and timing of the 9 traffic lights I went through. So Shaun not sure how much deep freeze driving you do but something to be cautious of.
The RC gladiator is awesome. I like a majority of the gear you use as well. Pretty awesome Gladiator build man. Great vids too, I’ve been binging them. Keep it up 👍🏻
That's bourbon weather, not beer weather. The shots in this episode were great. I really like the lack of music when just camping. The moon shot and the translucent ice when the waves hit them was cool.
Great video, as usual, Shaun. The music really takes your videos to that next cinematic level. Going out solo seems like a great way to decompress. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome back! I am glad you are better. The scenery as always from your drone is great. Snow camping is not for me. I like to be warm. But the solitude .........
Great trip video! Looked like a basic camp and dinner, but the scenery and the clear cold night lit up by a campfire made it magical. That gladiator RC car is cool, I want one. I also have a sarge green JT and would love to have a mini me. Ha ha.
This may sound crazy but your video made me miss the cold … I grew up in New Hampshire and moved to South Carolina a few years ago and it never gets below 50 Fahrenheit here…
I saw one of those Gladiator Type vehicles in the rhubarb last Wednesday the day after the wet snow hit Burnaby/New Westminister. A 4x4 must have been going too fast when it went between the jersey barrier and the ditch. This was just before Market Crossing on Marine. The only thing I can think happen was speed and hit pack ice coming up to the street light.
Man. That was a great one considering it wasn’t a tonne of wheeling. Always enjoy your balance of video content in all aspects of why we love this hobby. It’s humbling, exciting and of course dangerous.
Thanks! I try to keep it about the adventure, in whatever form that may take. Sometimes there's more wheeling, sometimes there's more camping, it's just whatever it may be. :)
Love all yh drone shots. Just a suggestion, when shooting around snow, turn your exposure down by 1/2 stop or so exposure. All the white throws off the correct exposure. Love your videos though
I personally wouldn't want to camp in that cold of temps but man was that absolutely gorgeous. Totally would day trip out to sight see but that's about it, you are definitely tougher than I would ever be.
There is so much awesome with this video Shaun!!! The drive in, the icy puddles, the crackling of the fire, the sound of the water lapping under the ice, the mini trail wrecker and I'm guessing that can of Chunky is 2.5-3 years old :) Great video!
Gorgeous scenery! Do they make a winter insulation kit for the GFC tent? I recently bought a Roof Nest wedge tent, and they don't have one for it yet. Makes a huge difference when trying to heat the tent. What's the power consumption of the diesel heater? I have a Propex propane heater, and it will run my Jackery 500 down to anywhere between 25%-50% capacity depending on temperature, duration, etc.
If you would isolate the gfc a bit your planar would have no stress keeping it warm, we have quite a bit experience with the planar/autoterm heaters over here 😉
Hey Shaun. Awesome as usual bro. I'm in awe every time with how beautiful B.C. is. Glad your all better and back our there. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
The cinematography of your channel is improving by leaps and bounds. While you're clearly a talented drone operator, it's great to see different techniques, camera angles, and storytelling formats.
I missed your videos. Happy to see you are back on your feet. Can’t wait to see how the GFC evolves. Thinking of one or a Super Pacific for my JT. I wonder i its practical to insulate the GFC. That would save some power.
The Anker 757 Powerhouse is an absolute beast of a power station with over 1200wh of power. Check it out here: shrsl.com/3s52n
That looks like a great unit. I love the light on it
How does the power station handle the cold weather? Does it have an internal heater?
@@anthonygendron9737 it does not have an internal heater. I don’t know of any of these types of units that do.
There just a toy. Fit a real 12v system. Redarc is a sponsor right?
Don't you have 200AHrs of lithium on the most sophisticated battery management system known to mankind? Why would you be running critical systems off a 10AHr battery that you cannot effectively recharge in the field?

Definitely could have picked a warmer location, but I did also choose this one for the scenery for the video.
Only mostly though :D
@@MKlukowski He does advocate safety second, so it doesn't feel right wishing him to stay completely safe. ;-)
The cinematography of Shaun’s channel is second to none. I get lost in the imagery and soundscapes. Really brilliant work.
I appreciate it!
Glad you're better! A nice thing about winter camping is that it's a lot easier to find solitude.

It was really awesome to see a solo adventure! A very peaceful and lowkey video.
I really loved the touch of RC Gladiator!!
Great to hear you're feeling better. Great to challenge the new equipment in the snow, great capture of a relaxing outing!
Nice to see you back at it. Hope you got some rest tho...the hardest working man in Overlanding right here.
Haha thanks Will.

I recently moved to Alberta. You're making me long for the beauty and solitude of East Harrison. Beauty video!
I'm working from home today, just had this and a few of your other solo trips queued up for a very relaxing morning while I chip away at work.
Awesome!

I had the same issue with my diesel heater this week. When I got the power issue solved the heater quit because it was "overheated". Also in a GFC

This was so peaceful and relaxing. Could have stayed there indefinitely! 🙏❤️🔥
Great video! really made me want to get out there once the snow starts to fly. Still rainy here on the East Coast.
We also had an epic camping there in the last summer! Beautiful...

Done 2 nights 3 days -48c in 2017 around New years. Was pretty rough in the tent.
That moment at 16:42, when the can surrenders it’s contents, will surely give chef Marco some new trail menu ideas for the next rendezvous.😉🤙🌲

Thank you so much to share this with us! Love from switzerland.
This whole cinematographic (not sure if that's a word) journey was one massive ASMR experience.
Then made better by a visit from the pippies (dogs)!
The background at the beach looks like a painting. I can't wait to see it in person again.
That's 85 degrees colder than it was today in Loxahatchee, Fl.
Nothing like some late night jeep work and some snow camping to help beat away a nasty flu bug. LOL. I like how you roll.
Would love to see an in depth video of the planar heater install on the GFC
Awesome, glad you're feeling better, went through that myself, don't think I've ever been so sick. You need to fit a real 12v lithium system.

Great video- thanks! What if you leave the car engine running overnight? This way you won't run our of battery and can keep the car warm?
Weird thought, but it would be a great April fools gag to do a whole ‘adventure’ using that RC. Glad you’re feeling better!
Haha I’ve actually put a considerable amount of thought into doing it.
