I got excited like a kid all over again... definitely much improved than my childhood version...the 1984-85 movie version as well as the Godzilla vs mechagodzilla one were my favorites until this version just crushed them all. His roar and realistic movements had me hyped even tho he didn't have slot of screen time( more than likely a suspenseful buildup but still wasn't showed enough)
They did a great job on his design and I'll be watching the new one in 3D at the movies
@D core You're delusional. Where did they rip off Jurassic Park/World? Just because one of the scenes from the trailer that u saw was similar to Jurassic World doesn't mean the whole story will go the way Jurassic did and it won't, the story plot is already out there. Jurassic franchise created more $$$ because of its nostalgia and popularity among people and the last movie was just mediocre. Lastly Godzilla was in the movie around 15 minutes just like the old 1954 movie, bet u have no idea, and he isn't fat, do u know the term muscular? Maybe you're too blind to even compare it for a second to the last Toho Godzilla "Shin Godzilla" which has a fat ass cheeks.

Obviously, you're still trying to bring up that "oh they are just copying jurassic world" just to downplay the movie while it's obviously different and facts out there has shown what both roars are made with different kind of things. Stop being stupid already. Acknowledge the fact that this new American version of Godzilla is a piece of original artwork unlike the old one which has little to no creativity at all by recreating a similar scenario/storyline to jurassic franchise with a reused godzilla roar from Toho. Anyway about Godzilla in 2014 not having much screen time compared to Shin Godzilla. In Shin Godzilla, Godzilla was mostly on land and have a ton of screen with 3/4 of it being Godzilla not doing anything, seems to me this is still comparable to Legendary Godzilla which have less screen time but once the final act is ready, they get it all out. And most Godzilla movies from Toho are less than 2 hours so your statement right there is mostly null, sorry to say
@D core Yeah 2014 Godzilla did "nothing" on our perspective. Well i dont doubt that godzilla himself lacks screentime, it has a lot of other things that's needed to be CGI-ed, appeared a lot in the movie such as the 2 M.U.T.O.-s & their "nests"(and u thought this is easy to make? You're probably gonna restate "oh no they're also covering the mutos by making them unclear to see at night", well there are some daytime scenes for the M.U.T.O.-s) and the story is building and rising up towards the last battle which is when godzilla fully appears. To me this is more interesting than seeing godzilla in Shin all the time (well i do like Shin tho). It sure doesn't do well enough in box office but atleast the next movies are increasing in the way the fans would like it to be. Final thing, NO ONE in this hecking world thinks Godzilla's roar in 2014 were a stock from JP and it's not. Stop lying and try again.
@D core "Do a side by side comparison for the 3D model" what the hell are y talking about? We're not discussing about the creatures model comparison (i am assuming you're talking about T-rex's with Godzilla's model which is just YOUR opinion. Godzilla's model is taken from a mix of bear, a tiger and some other real life animals -this is a fact-). Godzilla sure does get more screen time in mostly old Toho movies EXCEPT the original 1954 (after researching more into this i found out it also has 8 minutes of Godzilla screen) which means this is a actually a homage. You may complain there are tons of dark scenes, that's a weakness for sure and they're upping the game in that matter (look at Kong:Skull Island).
About Mike Dougherty, he did some mistakes in the past with x-men character models and sure i can see that coming to Godzilla but as far as i can tell, he's doing a great job on getting the tones of the creatures model right and even more "fixing" Godzilla's fins toward more of the old fashioned one. Mothra's design suites the realness and the tone of war of the Monsterverse world as it's based on the real life mantis-moth. If they used the tiny limbed mothra like the old one, she wouldn't be able to compete with the other monsters.

@@TheGodOfGravy SERIOUSLY! Gosh I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. Somehow the film makers captured this sense of despair (we'd lost big G), the absolute terror of Ghidorah's full abilities ("Oh no they killed Ke---no, nevermind, he grew back. Bit stupider, but that's why he's Kevin"), but most of all the... sheer scope of his scream and the fact that *IT* is what wakes up the others was terrifying. It was definitely a scene worthy of a horror movie, let alone a monster thriller.
And Rodan down on the bottom of the volcano, covering his ass. I swear Rodan makes me think of Starscream everytime I see him in this movie, and I didn't hate original Rodan. Or this one, just... this guy's different. Best wishes GravyLord *bows respect*

This didn’t age well
Godzilla was my favorite childhood monster and still is to this day.
Toho condemned the 1999 Godzilla and were impressed with how Legendary depicted him so that goes to show how well Legendary did and Im excited to see the next installment.

I saw this in theaters and when he let out that first atomic breath the theatre lit up with screams it was awesome to see the big guy on the big screen for the first time since Godzilla 2000. Going by this Godzilla could theoreticly survive being tossed into the sun
More like he wouldn't die immediately, which, don't get me wrong, is an impressive feat. But to say he'd surviving that is like saying just because I can survive accidentally touching the inside of a hot oven I'd also survive getting locked inside one.
I'd also like to point out that in the prequal book (which was confirmed to be canon) he was shown to take the meteor from the permion age point blank and just shrug it off and leave.
He might be able to absorb the extreme radiation but he's evolved to live on earth's atmosphere. He'd probably suffocate to death in a few minutes.
Technically big G's species CAN survive black holes.
He might be able to survive the sun if you take his other incarnations from the comic books.

At 2:05 you say in 1943 he was discoverd by a nuclear submarine but the first nuclear submarine launched in 1954.

Watching my 10 year old son geek out while he watched King of the Monsters was awesome. From beginning to end, he was on the literal edge of his chair.
I don't like the idea of Godzilla dying in the suns supernova. He is king of the monsters. Good kings deserve a noble death.

Fuck I love that Godzilla reveal scene from 2014 movie. Helicopter crashes. People scream running around panicking, then Godzilla’s huge foot hits the ground and everyone completely freezes in absolute silence. Perfect.
