    ''Though it has gone by many names, turquoise get its current name from French pierre tourques, or “Turkish Stone.” This phrase refers to the Turkish traders who introduced the gem to Europe via the Silk Road in the 13th century.
    Ancient Persians believed that turquoise could prevent them from harm and covered their daggers and bridles with it. They referred to turquoise as pirouzeh, which translates to “victory.” The Native Americans Apaches wore turquoise as talismans and believed that attaching it to weapons and bows made for better aim. Aztec chiefs wore turquoise jewelry as a mark of authority.
    P422 Fairuz will bring out the natural resonance and richness of the instrument you are EQ-ing. Even at extreme boosts or cuts, the integrity of the sound is maintained.
    P422 Fairuz is a versatile channel proportional EQ. Each point of the stepped frequencies is tuned by ear for that sweet spot. Still, the option to switch the band to continuous operation is provided for power users. Bands can be either peak or a punch (push/pull) curve. Fairuz does not emulate any hardware design. It is an original design free from the limitations and sonics of existing hardware equalizers.
    Features
    4 Bands: L, LM, HM, H.
    2 Shelves, Low and High.
    2 Filters: HPF & LPF
    Step or continuous frequencies and gain.
    Proportional Q.
    Tremor circuit for low end shaping.
    Unique Peak or cut/boost bands.
    Zero sample latency.''

    Since ive got my hands on a few Pulsar Modular plugins, I’ve found that my GAS has reduced tremendously. The next best thing becomes less appealing as I already have a set of tools that work brilliantly.
    Fairuz took some time for me to comprehend. I’ll give you that. Early on I was trying to use it as normal eq and only later I realized that, when used to boost or minimize resonances in a recorded instrument or vocals, that it really clicked for me. It made my acoustic guitar sing in a way I didn’t know it could. Of course, use cases for everyone would be different. This was just mine. ❤

      This plugin just has EQ curves feeding into a harmonics circuit - there's no magic happening. You could get the same result with basically any EQ, it wil take more work though. I point out that in the video.
      That's why I use the tools analogy - if it works - great. If not - there will be a different plugin that will get you there.

      @@whitenoisestudio ah ok i hear ya.
      I find their pricing a bit steep but what can one say. It is what it is. The more i see these kind of null tests like you do here the more i get the impression that i might have too many plugins already that „look different but don`t really sound that differently“ or in other words very few feel irreplaceable somehow. There is a big „cheating“ potential for developers in the software domain i am afraid. Its a bit „Nice interface and the same re-cooked meal“ somehow.
      Glad you are doing fine

      Yeah I know. A company like Pulsar Modular seems to excel in the subjective marketing department and lots of people are sensitive to that. I rather judge a plugin on its merit. If its good, its good, if not, then l'll point that out too.

  • @jinxradar

    I don’t think you gave this EQ a fair shake TBH. I think it has curve choices, movement and harmonics that differentiate it from a standard digital EQ.

    • @whitenoisestudio
      @whitenoisestudio  9 дней назад +1

      Well I am not biased:
      Edited:
      The “tuned by ear” curves have 1 fixed curve over the entire logarithmic frequency spectrum ( goes for all eq bands), adding them will behave like any digital eq, multiple bands will phase cancel with a standard digital eq and the harmonic by default is a standard soft second and third harmonic . When you enable the hammer icon it adds generic , pretty linear harmonics after the eq, like so many emulations.
      I don’t see the specialty in this plugin other than the hype of the brand.

    • @jinxradar
      @jinxradar 8 дней назад +1

      @@whitenoisestudioyou are ever so certain! I wish I had your confidence 😅. So I am hearing some movement and fluctuations in the boosts as well which the developer has confirmed. The Tremor circuit also sounds like it is doing something different to me. Like I said, I think there’s more to this EQ than you state. You are normally quite even handed which is why this review stood out as unduly negative.

    • @whitenoisestudio
      @whitenoisestudio  8 дней назад

      Yup I am certain. The bands move a tiny bit - the high band the ''most'' .
      Tremor is like what i showed - you see the frequency changes when you turn it up. Its very easy to do a phase cancelling test with this plugin - you get results that show clean EQ behaviour.
      I am always fair, and I present the results how I found them. Assuming I am not I actually find insulting.
      But that said, I think you dont like what that outcome is.
      Its easy to focus on the parts I dont like about the plugin - but you should absolutely include all the positives I mention.

    Between TDR Nova GE, Acustica Audio's Coffee & Analog Obsession's SSQ (SSL EQ), I have pretty much covered any kind of EQ that I need. It seems like all of these other EQs is a null test against each other which might not be fair. I mean sure if you spent the time and pulled up SPAN, you could figure it out but seems like all of them are just a curve specific to tried and true EQs of the past 50 years. Cool video and this isn't a slam against your review or to anyone else who likes the options. It's kind of daunting to me with all of the options and I wonder if there is a breaking point of how much further we can take the concept of an EQ.

    • @whitenoisestudio
      @whitenoisestudio  4 дня назад +1

      You're concerns are valid, and it goes for other types of plugins as well like for instance compressors, delays and reverbs.
      That's why I like to see plugins as tools - if you take a screwdriver , many will get the job done but some do a specific job better or you might like its interface ( thickness of the handle, the shape of it, does it allow for multiple bit heads).
      Those will be a big factor if you like it and use it.
      If you look at EQs, that would be number of bands, types of EQ curve / complexity vs simplicity , user interface and more. And sound ofcourse.
      We never talk about: there's are too many hammers, there are too many screwdivers. I think that fits in the audioworld as well.
      That will also mean that maybe some have found the right EQ for them and they don't need more, for others that may not be the case.

      It's a fair and square review - I even complimented the plugin on how those curves are chosen because they work well.
      Dont call it drama because its not a raving positive review which you maybe wanted to see.
      But if a simple null test shows it's nothing special - and believe me I tried to check the plugin on all sorts of behavior - then I will point that out.
      It even nulls with multiple bands enabled.
      There's enough BS happening in plugin land, stay skeptical.

      @@whitenoisestudioSorry, but that's not Null. Or something is wrong with my phone and sound is still present. Try the Trident eqs. 2 of the 3 can be nulled, resulting in silence. With Fairuz that's not the case, and as mentioned that's without considering saturation.
      I still need to test it further and determine if workflow and CPU usage are right for me.
      Best wishes.

    • @whitenoisestudio
      @whitenoisestudio  7 дней назад +1

      @eduardopoplawsky7333 no its not a perfect null like this.
      When it cancels as much as it does, I got down to around -50dB without even trying hard, you know it''s very close to a clean EQ and soundwise there wont be any benefits or claimed special features.
      It comes down to the curves themselves. And they are well chosen and EQ in a very pleasant way with little effort.
      The plugin can speed up your workflow because of that. Ofcourse you can eq into the saturation which will have its own advantages.
      You can do that as well with any EQ and saturation plugin obviously.
