    an addendum regarding Julie d'Aubigny's Wikipedia page: it is significantly more boring now. the bits about burning down convents, stapling noblemen to trees, et cetera have been removed since they "[appear] to have been fictional", at least according to the Talk page.
    however, that same discussion also mentions that there is "next to no scholarly analysis about this woman's actual life written in English." French history majors, this is your golden chance.

      Good to know! The subtitling's done by sending it off to a transcription service; I then clean up the transcript, run it through RUclips's auto-sync system, and check through the results. Glad to hear it's worth the effort :)

    as for the "a mens courage could be judged by the number of scars on their cheeks" this is true for both cheeks actually. if you have scars in your face you are brave, if you have scars on your butt you probably tried to run away so you are very coward.

      Reading her wikipedia page is now very different, but it turns out there were fictional accounts of her life almost immediately. I'd hazard to guess that these fictional accounts are why her wiki page is now so different from what was related by Tom.

    Doing my regular rewatching of Citation Needed this episode is a delight to reach, as I since last time I watched it has gotten to know a lady who I've over time become increasingly convinced is a time traveling Julie D'Aubigny.
    The many ways in which they effectively are the same person existing at different points in time is remarkable.

      true but tom 1) is from midlands which is better that south (by better i mean closer to york/the north) 2) went to school in york. whereas will is from the south coast i think

    I'll be honest, if I could only choose one of them, I'd pick Matt over Will, but if I had my choice, I'd love to see all five of you together.       Tom referred exactly to that. On Twitter, I believe. He even mentioned talking about building fires, too.
      Luckily they managed to postpone the release on time, otherwise it would have been a very awkward episode to watch.

    Luynes is pronounced roughly "luene", when using English pronunciation.
    The last letter is silent (as so many words in French). Like... Jacques... for instance! :P
