Shoutout to Ralph Inesons performance as Cid in FF16, the coolest uncle anyone could ever have. Calm, cool and collected but with a demeanor that lets you know he’s always ready to kick ass. His voice was amazing in the vvitch and spectacular in FF16
I am surprised John DiMaggio wasn’t mentioned. He’s a major and prolific voice actor who regularly plays Gilgamesh in FF as well as Barthello in 12. He also Plays Heidegger in 7 Remake and Wakka in 10. But outside of FF you would know him best as Bender in Futurama and Jake from Adventure Time. He’s mostly voice work, but he’s prolific. Also absolutely SHOCKED Tom Kenny wasn’t mentioned. He’s famous for being SpongeBob Squarepants but he’s also prolific. Rin in 10 is the main thing that comes to mind but he’s done at least 1 or 2 other FF roles. Brit Baron also has work outside of Tifa as she was on GLOW which I hate Netflix cancelled.
I’m always blown away at the range Tom and John have. But I think it’s actors not VAs in this video. Not many people can do both and we rarely see the people you mentioned as on screen IRL actors.

I wouldn't discount voice actors as celebrities, though. Some voice actors like Phil La Mar have major followings. Phil La Mar was in Pulp Fiction as the guy John Travolta killed by accident (Marvin) and in sketch comedy on Mad TV, but we know him best as Samurai Jack, John Stewart (Green Lantern on Cartoon Network), and Reddas in FF12 and Ramza FFT:War of the Lions remake.
Keith David is a legend! The Thing and They Live are two of the best thrillers from the 80's. Liked his short role in NOPE also. He has an unmistakeable voice. Like Clancy Jones.
I think you mean Clancy Brown, but I checked and I'm kind of remembering some other big name black actors, like Carl Weathers and Bill Duke. The latter played a persistent antagonist/villain in the Black Lightning series too
Chaos jokes aside. I think voice acting in FF has been phenomenal since its debut. And I hope if Dissidia ever returns, all the original actors reprise their roles instead of being replaced like in FF7R.

The movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is a grossly underrated movie. I liked it when it was first released and I’m really glad I bought the DVD because it held the first preview of the upcoming Final Fantasy X game.
I freaking love Mass Effect! Always saw Anderson as my FemShep’s “space dad” and he’s still one of my all time video game characters. Keith David really gave Anderson a heart and soul. The ME books also fill out his backstory brilliantly. Still brings a tear to my eyes towards the end of ME3 when he says, “You’ve done good, child.” I mean, damn 💔!
Liam O'brien. Maybe not as famous as most of the list has played some incredible roles. Red XIII in AC, Kain Highwind and my favourite role of his in FF Ciaus Ballad. He also voiced one of the most iconic lines in gaming "You are not prepared!" - Illidan Stormrage.
Jonathan Bailey of Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers also voices The Crystal Exarch in FFXIV. I hope that they continue to be able to book him despite his star rising to new heights.
Just YESTERDAY, I fell down the rabbit-hole of watching all of the Encounter Voicelines of characters fighting Chaos in Dissidia/012 and even how, in the same game/"universe", he adds completely different flairs to Chaos. I absolutely love him and would love to see him work on another Dissidia game 💜
The echo they added to Suvari's voice in Advent Children did a LOT of the heavy lifting (similar to Lance Bass' Sephiroth) as she sounded incredibly stiff in KH II.
I'm surprised at its legacy and originality. Avatar, Battle Alita, Tron: Legacy- all owe a node to Spirits Within's failings. And despite the messiness of the pacing and plot, the world is one of the most original stories told in the last 30 years. You really can't go wrong with post-apocalypse ghost aliens and James Woods (who also wasn't mentioned along with Ming-Na Wen)
Dwight Schultz deserves a mention. He starred in “The A-Team” in the 80’s and made multiple guest appearances on Star Trek shows as Lt. Barclay. He was Maechen in FFX, Maechen and O’aka in FFX-2, and Old Dalan and Gran Kiltias Anastasis in FFXII. The man is a chameleon…just check out his unhinged performance as Professor Pyg in Batman Arkham Knight.

Heck, George Newbern also voiced Nooj in FF X-2, a character I feel is underappreciated in the depth he has with a game that is seen as mostly about Yuna and other "girly" stereotypes. PArticularly in playing off of Paine in the game. I hear Superman in Justice League, also can't not hear Nooj, especially a few lines

Also worthy of mention, FFXIV brought in a few actors of Game of Thrones fame, most notably Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton) as Gaius van Baelsar and Joe Dempsie (Gendry) as Ardbert and Arenvald. Joe Dempsie was especially a delight, as his voice acting was among the best in all of Shadowbringers, if not the whole game.
Keith David, I think, is also super iconic for playing Goliath in the show Gargoyles, as well as playing Julius Little in Saints Row series, by the 4th game, characters even pointed out the likeness to the point that they just outright call him Keith David.
He did Mister Bones in Stargirl, which sadly wasn't that prominent a role, given it was mostly voice over and scenes primarily in season 3, which sadly wrapped up the story abruptly for Helix. But I'd heard rumors even before we heard his voice at the end of season 2 and I was giddy with excitement to hear him voicing such a sinister character
It's fucking wild playing that game, being like 2/3 of the way through it, and here's goddamn Kieth David and Dan Castellaneta voicing the most missable characters. Oh, and fucking John Delancie as Trias. I'm glad BG3 kept the tradition with some wild VO choices very late in the game.
My favorite has to be Matt Mittleman, don't think he was quite known when he was first cast for Remake but since he's had major roles and i doubt that's gonna change anytime soon. All around wholesome guy too. Helps that the voice he gives Red XIII is almost exactly what i thought he'd sound like.
Keith David’s voice is impossible to not recognize. I was first introduced to his iconic voice as Goliath from Gargoyles. Then again as Sgt Foley in Modern Warfare 2, Dr Facilier in Princess and the Frog, and of course as Chaos. I’d love for the Dissidia games to be remade (not NT) with all of the voice actors present. Dissidia in particular had some star studded names alongside Keith David. Yuri Lowenthal, Johnny Yong Bosch, Chris Sabat to name a couple.

@@KeDe1606 Dissidia/Duodecim was an actual celebration of all of the content that could be garnered from having all the main protags/antags from final fantasy. It had a unique combat system that while maybe not everyone's cup of tea was still fun enough to be enjoyable and to get deeper into if you stuck with it. Add onto that a wealth of progression (which is massive when you consider all the characters you can build) selectable moves and tons of main campaign time and for a handheld spinoff dissidia really knocked it out of the park. Dissidia NT is a more arcade style game with prettier graphics, none of the depth and a more convoluted battle system. So convoluted as to be boring to even try to play. Mostly they really just shot themselves in the foot after making the original dissidia/duodecim so full of content and then making NT so incredibly lacking in comparison.
I find it amazing that the Spirits Within STILL holds up after all this time. It's dated, but has visual quality equal to today's cg video games marking it as truly ahead of it's time!
Of course it's no coincidence that at the last minute in 2018, John Heinecke, the former Activision Blizzard Entertainment CMO, now works for Square Enix, was responsible for promoting the prolific young celebrities from the CW/Warner Bros/Sony and Teen Wolf celebrities all at the expense of the original FF7 voice cast when they were all meant to be part of the FF7R as the 2015 FF7R gameplay showcase proved. He even used the "Superman is still voicing Sephiroth" propaganda as a perfect marketing opportunity to lure the new fans into the CW shows like Supergirl or Superman & Lois. This sounds like a shady business dealing.
This criticism would hold a lot more water if the Voice cast for Remake/Rebirth wasn't so exceptional. There *is* no original FF7 voice cast. They changed all the time well before Remake even came out.

When you get the voice of Goliath and Spawn to voice the very first Big Bad of Final Fantasy, you have a winner. George Newbern will always been Sephiroth. Tyler does a great job but he's never going to be the GOAT that Nerbern was. I enjoy the new cast but the decision to recast is always going to be the single most unnecessary decision Square has made IMO.
How could you not mention Keith David voicing Goliath in Disney's Gargoyles. It's literally my favorite role he's ever rolled. It really exemplifies his range and versatility.
Ali Hillis is another prolific voice actress. Lightning (Claire) Farron in the entire trilogy of FFXIII but also Liara T'soni in the Mass Effect trilogy, plus other works that I don't remember.
Bro, I have to give Suzie Yeung credit where it's due, she is an amazing actress. Voices my favorite character in GI and is now being the star of Yuffie in FF7: Rebirth - I'll never get tired of her voice, man!
And my favourite actress Ming-Na Wen voiced the main character in Spirits Within.... unfortunately not a role befitting her talent but it is what it is 😅

I'm sure the timing of this video is no coincidence, given recent discussion about AI-voiced characters in video games on the horizon. That said, really cool vid. Big fan of Donald Sutherland's 70s movies, and always happy to see any reference to Final Fantasy XIII-2; such an underappreciated game. And Keith David's always awesome. Favorite FF voice actor? Tough call. Probably a toss up between Ali Hillis as Lightning and Troy Baker as Snow Villiers.
Usually the established voice actors always do the best jobs, but in this case the answer's easy. Ariel Winter defined the moogle voice in XIII-2. She voiced Mog flawlessly and helped make him the strongest and (I would hope) most beloved character in the game.

Yeah so it is Ralph Ineson. He nailed Cid in 16. To be fair the writing in all of 16 was top notch. When spoiler happened it hit so much harder because of how amazing Ralph is as Cid.
James Wood in Spirits Within. Kinda shocked he didn't make it on the list to be honest. He was, to my knowledge, the only Oscar nominated actor to lend his voice to a Final Fantasy project.
While the Remake actors have all been incredible (especially Brianna) I actually prefer Lance Bass as Sephiroth - the tone of his voice was perfect. My favorite of all time however, is still Liam O'Brien as Kain in FF4 for the 3DS and the Dissidia games - the man is just PERFECT for that character. As for who I'd like to see, Billy Bob Thornton would make the best Cid Highwind ever change my mind - dude could even play him IRL. Also, how dare you bring up Keith David without mentioning Gargoyles.

For me, Mae Whitman will ALWAYS be Yuffie! When I played FFVII back then, Mae Whitman's voice is what I always imaged Yuffie's voice would be if she could speak! She was perfect! I was so disappointed Mae didn't reprise her role in FFVII Remake. Just so we're clear, I have nothing against Yuffie's new voice in Remake. In fact, they sounded so identical, I thought Mae was actually voicing Yuffie. So her new VA in Remake is great, don't get me wrong. But Mae Whitman is Yuffie, for me. As for Ariel Winter as Mog. MY GOD! SHE IS ADORABLE AS THAT CHARACTER! And I don't use the word "adorable" often lol Whenever I see Mog or a Moggle, I'm just seeing Ariel as the character. She is the Moggle lol She has the "KUPO" sound down! She is great! If Square ever continues to use Mog or a talking Moggle again, I hope they get Ariel back! To make another thing clear, it's not because they're celebrities, it's because their voices match the characters they're voicing. It's all about vocal delivery. Not appearances. Chaos was so damn scary in Dissidia, he really nailed the role, i just wish that SE would make a HD port of Duedecim, such a great game and i would love to solo Feral Chaos with Lightning again.
Only minor correction would be that Superman and Lois was in its 3rd season, it concluded and 4th season, which will sadly be the final one, is in production atm.

Poor Sean Bean. Even the digital characters he portrays get killed. In fact about the only thing where he lives at the end is the Silent Hill movie, and he lost his wife and daughter at that.
Spawn for me. My dad had a DVD set of the animated HBO mini-series, and Kieth David voiced Spawn himself. He also reprised the role for Soul Calibur 2 and MK11

Spirits Within wasn’t a bad movie, I think it just suffered because it was a Final Fantasy in name only. They catered and advertised to the wrong crowd.

Just YESTERDAY, I fell down the rabbit-hole of watching all of the Encounter Voicelines of characters fighting Chaos in Dissidia/012 and even how, in the same game/"universe", he adds completely different flairs to Chaos. I absolutely love him and would love to see him work on another Dissidia game 💜

The echo they added to Suvari's voice in Advent Children did a LOT of the heavy lifting (similar to Lance Bass' Sephiroth) as she sounded incredibly stiff in KH II.
Spirits Within has been one of my favourite movies for a long time. So underrated.
I'm surprised at its legacy and originality. Avatar, Battle Alita, Tron: Legacy- all owe a node to Spirits Within's failings. And despite the messiness of the pacing and plot, the world is one of the most original stories told in the last 30 years.
You really can't go wrong with post-apocalypse ghost aliens and James Woods (who also wasn't mentioned along with Ming-Na Wen)
Dwight Schultz deserves a mention. He starred in “The A-Team” in the 80’s and made multiple guest appearances on Star Trek shows as Lt. Barclay. He was Maechen in FFX, Maechen and O’aka in FFX-2, and Old Dalan and Gran Kiltias Anastasis in FFXII. The man is a chameleon…just check out his unhinged performance as Professor Pyg in Batman Arkham Knight.

Heck, George Newbern also voiced Nooj in FF X-2, a character I feel is underappreciated in the depth he has with a game that is seen as mostly about Yuna and other "girly" stereotypes. PArticularly in playing off of Paine in the game. I hear Superman in Justice League, also can't not hear Nooj, especially a few lines

Also worthy of mention, FFXIV brought in a few actors of Game of Thrones fame, most notably Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton) as Gaius van Baelsar and Joe Dempsie (Gendry) as Ardbert and Arenvald. Joe Dempsie was especially a delight, as his voice acting was among the best in all of Shadowbringers, if not the whole game.
To top that off, Sam Riegel (Phoenix Wright) voiced Alphinaud Leveilleur, and Taliesin Jaffe (various; The Flash) voiced Thancred Waters in ARR.

Keith David, I think, is also super iconic for playing Goliath in the show Gargoyles, as well as playing Julius Little in Saints Row series, by the 4th game, characters even pointed out the likeness to the point that they just outright call him Keith David.

He did Mister Bones in Stargirl, which sadly wasn't that prominent a role, given it was mostly voice over and scenes primarily in season 3, which sadly wrapped up the story abruptly for Helix. My favorite has to be Matt Mittleman, don't think he was quite known when he was first cast for Remake but since he's had major roles and i doubt that's gonna change anytime soon. All around wholesome guy too. Helps that the voice he gives Red XIII is almost exactly what i thought he'd sound like.

Keith David’s voice is impossible to not recognize. I was first introduced to his iconic voice as Goliath from Gargoyles. Then again as Sgt Foley in Modern Warfare 2, Dr Facilier in Princess and the Frog, and of course as Chaos. I’d love for the Dissidia games to be remade (not NT) with all of the voice actors present. Dissidia in particular had some star studded names alongside Keith David. Yuri Lowenthal, Johnny Yong Bosch, Chris Sabat to name a couple.

@@KeDe1606 Dissidia/Duodecim was an actual celebration of all of the content that could be garnered from having all the main protags/antags from final fantasy. It had a unique combat system that while maybe not everyone's cup of tea was still fun enough to be enjoyable and to get deeper into if you stuck with it. Add onto that a wealth of progression (which is massive when you consider all the characters you can build) selectable moves and tons of main campaign time and for a handheld spinoff dissidia really knocked it out of the park. Dissidia NT is a more arcade style game with prettier graphics, none of the depth and a more convoluted battle system. So convoluted as to be boring to even try to play. Mostly they really just shot themselves in the foot after making the original dissidia/duodecim so full of content and then making NT so incredibly lacking in comparison.

Of course it's no coincidence that at the last minute in 2018, John Heinecke, the former Activision Blizzard Entertainment CMO, now works for Square Enix, was responsible for promoting the prolific young celebrities from the CW/Warner Bros/Sony and Teen Wolf celebrities all at the expense of the original FF7 voice cast when they were all meant to be part of the FF7R as the 2015 FF7R gameplay showcase proved. He even used the "Superman is still voicing Sephiroth" propaganda as a perfect marketing opportunity to lure the new fans into the CW shows like Supergirl or Superman & Lois. This sounds like a shady business dealing.
This criticism would hold a lot more water if the Voice cast for Remake/Rebirth wasn't so exceptional. There *is* no original FF7 voice cast. They changed all the time well before Remake even came out.

When you get the voice of Goliath and Spawn to voice the very first Big Bad of Final Fantasy, you have a winner.
George Newbern will always been Sephiroth. Tyler does a great job but he's never going to be the GOAT that Nerbern was. I enjoy the new cast but the decision to recast is always going to be the single most unnecessary decision Square has made IMO.
How could you not mention Keith David voicing Goliath in Disney's Gargoyles. It's literally my favorite role he's ever rolled. It really exemplifies his range and versatility.

I'm sure the timing of this video is no coincidence, given recent discussion about AI-voiced characters in video games on the horizon. That said, really cool vid. Big fan of Donald Sutherland's 70s movies, and always happy to see any reference to Final Fantasy XIII-2; such an underappreciated game. And Keith David's always awesome. Favorite FF voice actor? Tough call. Probably a toss up between Ali Hillis as Lightning and Troy Baker as Snow Villiers.
Usually the established voice actors always do the best jobs, but in this case the answer's easy. Ariel Winter defined the moogle voice in XIII-2. She voiced Mog flawlessly and helped make him the strongest and (I would hope) most beloved character in the game.

Yeah so it is Ralph Ineson. He nailed Cid in 16. To be fair the writing in all of 16 was top notch. When spoiler happened it hit so much harder because of how amazing Ralph is as Cid.
James Wood in Spirits Within. Kinda shocked he didn't make it on the list to be honest. He was, to my knowledge, the only Oscar nominated actor to lend his voice to a Final Fantasy project.

While the Remake actors have all been incredible (especially Brianna) I actually prefer Lance Bass as Sephiroth - the tone of his voice was perfect.
My favorite of all time however, is still Liam O'Brien as Kain in FF4 for the 3DS and the Dissidia games - the man is just PERFECT for that character.
As for who I'd like to see, Billy Bob Thornton would make the best Cid Highwind ever change my mind - dude could even play him IRL.

For me, Mae Whitman will ALWAYS be Yuffie! When I played FFVII back then, Mae Whitman's voice is what I always imaged Yuffie's voice would be if she could speak! She was perfect! I was so disappointed Mae didn't reprise her role in FFVII Remake. Just so we're clear, I have nothing against Yuffie's new voice in Remake. In fact, they sounded so identical, I thought Mae was actually voicing Yuffie. So her new VA in Remake is great, don't get me wrong. But Mae Whitman is Yuffie, for me. As for Ariel Winter as Mog. MY GOD! SHE IS ADORABLE AS THAT CHARACTER! And I don't use the word "adorable" often lol Whenever I see Mog or a Moggle, I'm just seeing Ariel as the character. She is the Moggle lol She has the "KUPO" sound down! She is great! If Square ever continues to use Mog or a talking Moggle again, I hope they get Ariel back!
To make another thing clear, it's not because they're celebrities, it's because their voices match the characters they're voicing. It's all about vocal delivery. Not appearances. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT!

John DiMaggio has played at least 10 characters across the series, including Heidegger, Kimahri and Gilgamesh.
Poor Sean Bean. Even the digital characters he portrays get killed. In fact about the only thing where he lives at the end is the Silent Hill movie, and he lost his wife and daughter at that.
He survived both Silent Hill movies as well as the first National Treasure film.
