- Actress Dakota Fanning talks with TODAY’s Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb about the thriller series “The Alienist.” The limited TV series, in which Fanning plays a police secretary, revolves around solving a serial murder in 1890s New York City. She also talks about being a student at NYU and how getting a college degree is still important to her.

Recently just googled Dakota fanning because she was my favorite actress growing up and am so thrilled to see that she is still acting! Wow! She looks so much older! Only a couple years younger than me. And lives in New York close to where I grew up! So cool! She’s so smart and down to earth. She’s definitely one of the more normal actresses out there. So awesome ! Go Dakota!

There will be a second series...not season. It will be called "The Angel Of Darkness", based on the sequel novel (by the same title) to " The Alienist". It will also be a limited series, so not a second season technically. But same cast, most of the same characters. Different story, subject matter etc. Apparently they ar in the process of writing the scripts...right about now...
