    Broooo
    I just got my new (to me) corolla and it does this when turning left.
    I know my way around cars but never would I have thought about the dust cover scraping as I thought it would be audible independent from steering angle.
    I'm gonna have a look at the cover tomorrow. If it is the issue you saved me like 3h of driving to the dealership and back.
    Perfect video: short and straight to the point. I like that!
    Update: It really was the dust cover. I owe you one my dude

    Hahaha, it was so funny, after watching this I went to my car and reached in to feel the dust cover behind the brake rotor to see if it was bent or damaged somewhere. When I tried to pull the bottom of the dust cover away a little bit, a small rock fell out! Drove the car forward and back and the noise is gone!! So happy it wasn't anything like damage or anything major that would cost a lot to fix. Also super happy I didn't have to take the wheel off or even get under the car! I never would have known to check this way if it wasn't for this video, so thank you so much!!!

    Another possible cause of this sort of noise is if a small stone gets stuck in the gap between the shield and rotor

    I had this exact problem, had convinced myself it was a wheel bearing. But the noise just wasn’t right. Until I saw your video and you had the exact noise I had. Checked my dust cover and sure enough it was bent inwards and in the perfect position to run when I had my wheel cranked for a hard turn. Pushed it out and away from the rotor and bingo fixed!!

    I am having a similar sound only when I am turning left with my Corolla. I hear it right around my feet so I think it is the front left wheel too. It recently snowed here and after shovelling I placed the shovel next to the car in a pile of snow but accidentally drove over the shovel when moving the car through the snow. It dragged the shovel underneath the car for a few metres and since then I've heard this sound. Hopefully it is something simple like this video and not a major part that has been damaged.

  • @jeremyvargas3968

    ...step 1... jack up DF wheel... wobble wheel left and right, then top and bottom to check for looseness within tie rods, l wheel bearings, ball joints and bushings, next place pry bar between upper/lower control arms and steering knuckle to check for play in ball joints... THEN remove wheel, to inspect pads, and rotors.

    Now I've got to go check to see if that one dust shield thing is the cause but with this beast it is probably everything wrong with it that has to do with the steering.
    As it is a bucket of rust underneath.
    Well I have found the issue. The suspension is the cause of the scrapping.
    It's been doing that since I bought the car .
    Now I've got to find how to fix it cause it tore the hell out of the new rotor I put on a week ago .

  • @lexevo
    @lexevo Год назад +1

    Nice work there. Saved yourself a lot of money. How do you tell if the suspension is worn or causing noise. I hit a curb pretty bad. To my shock I couldn’t find any damage. And almost has a loud wind like noise while turning right.

      Did you find out the cause? I hit a rock today ans got a weird sound

    • @lexevo
      @lexevo Год назад

      @@kzb2771 yes, so when I put load on the car while turning it made that weird scraping windy sound which was the front right hub bearing. It sounded like the left but sound travels. Also during cold start it made a spooling noise before fully warmed up. I went through hell and 3 Lexus appointments as well as a new performance intake. Before I finally believed this sound is also normal. Just need to warm up the car a bit. I also found a thread where almost all rcF owners had the same noise. Once you hit something, your senses all go up, and you hear things that you never noticed before. I also wrapped every trim and part with electrical tape and insulation. Also runner o rings to put pressure on any panels that rattled. Very quite now.

    On our 2005 Honda CRV. We're getting similar noise but we're also getting vibration an. The steering wheel on left and right turns. We just had both axles replaced by mechanic in the front. That didn't seem to solve the problem for us.

    I got a similar noise but it's on both sides. I am thinking it might just be ice between the rotors and dust thing bc it snowed and since has made that sound. I get lots of fun sounds after a snow
