Had the tape as a kid, bought the vinyl a few years ago and just got the cd last week. Popped it into the car stereo and my son (6) has me playing it on repeat. This track is our favorite. Just showed him the video.
This was one of the very first albums I bought on CD. At the time, my family didn't even own a CD player, but I knew back then that I was "future-proofing" myself because I understood the superiority of digital media vs. analog. It was probably sealed for a good 3-4 years until I finally had a CD-ROM!
Homer's lines go hard. I dunno, the way he "sings" (it's really more saying to the beat of it) the words over the instrumental is just so funny. Especially his first verse. "But dad said "Shut it. Get up, mow the lawn. Move it on the double Because if you don't You're in deep, deep trouble!"" Name a better piece of 6 second audio
Haven't listened to this in yrs. Forgot how good that hook was... added to my cruise playlist. Brings me back to my Sophomore year of highschool. I used to listen to this all the time. I still remembered every word. The time of New Jack Swing, Miami Bass and just good hip hop....anyway Great memories, it's nice to reminisce.
Holy crap. This has been in the back of my brain trying to come out for over 30 years. I’ve had memories of this video and often think of it but really couldn’t remember. RUclips brings out core memories.
Remember seeing this on the DVD for Season 3 I believe? Was obsessed with it, but couldn't find a good enough quality. Regardless of the reception, this song always was a banger to me (especially the choruses) so safe to say I owe y'all my life
I really hate that Fox and even Groening and the other showrunners seem to have just consigned this entire album to the memory hole. They don't even make comedic callbacks to it in the show (the way they occasionally do to Bart's old catchphrases, or the original character designs, etc.) It's as if this never existed for younger fans, unless they stumble upon it on RUclips. The quality of the songs on the album varied, and yeah, some people viewed it as one of the first cash-grabs in the early history of the series, but I found it entertaining from day one, and kept listening to this and the subsequent Simpsons albums (even the overdue Yellow Album) well into the early 2000s.
I had this album when I was 11 back in what like 1990?. I had to have surgery that summer so this tape and a yellow Sony Sports Walkman was what I had in there with me
It's cool to see the credits in there. Rumor is that Michael Jackson helped a lot with the album, but couldn't put his name on his because of his record label contract.

This is probably my favorite song from the album. It’s just so catchy.
I prefer look at all those idiots

Who buys CDs in 2024?
@@thefonzkisspeople who want to own the music they play? Physical media is so much better
I remember having this album on cassette tape. Loved it, and today it still makes me chuckle.
I was 11 when this came out. I had it on cassette tape and thought it was risque back then lol.

Last heard it on MTV sometime in the 90s, then just now.
This album wasn't well received but man does this chorus go hard

@@GlipGligAgreed. Homer’s lines come off very smooth, especially that part
yes
I bet it’s expensive
Where's your sense of humor, man?
I haven’t heard this in close to 30 years
I second that. Check Do the Bartman. Another jewel to remember.
I've had this downloaded since Napster cause it was that awesome
Facts! I forgot this existed. I just remember “do the bartman”.
Same! I had this on cassette. I remember it having a red colored cover art
Nostalgia 30 years ago Nostalgia 30 years later!
Whenever I hear that someone is in Deep Trouble, this tune plays in my head 😊
This was peak Simpsons aesthetic
I remember recording the premier of this. Still might be buried in a box somewhere of old Simpsons episodes I used to record
Nice!
February 1991. I remember. It premiered on a Encore Airing of "Bart The Daredevil".
Haven't listened to this in yrs. Forgot how good that hook was... added to my cruise playlist.

I would wait for somebody to request it on The Box. 😊it was a treat to hear.
Love this song so much classic
I can’t explain the bewilderment with myself when I realized I still knew all the words haha
I remembered every word. I was not surprised, this song was and still is a catchy hidden gem.
Same here
2024 and still listening!
I still remember the lyrics. This song still slaps after 30 years
"Well, you're damned if you do." -Bart
So true!
"Well, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. "-Bart Simpson
lol 😂
This and Do The Bartman are my 2 favorite songs now :D
This song is credited as my introduction to hip-hop! Jazzy Jeff produced this record!
Damn! Forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.
I clearly remember watching this on VH1 in the 90s! Great Times!
RUclips is the closest thing we have to a time machine ! Damn the memories of my Preschool years !

It's mad that after decades of not hearing this song, I still know it, word for word 😂
A wave a nostalgia just hit me- I looked up this song and found Do the Bartman(another classic) I miss the 90s 😢
Wow, years and years and i never knew there was a video! ❤❤❤❤
Haven't heard this song in over 30 years. Generations of Simpsons fans don't know it exists. Why does that make me feel like an old geezer? Nov '82.

One of the few call backs I can recall is Darcy from the episode Little Big Girl says " lay off the Bartman " to her father or something.
Cuz it's horrendous
Thank you for the remaster!!!
The memories this brought back
lol Barney’s laugh at the end! 😂
Im laying in bed at 10:15pm and the hook of this song pops in my head for no reason whatsoever 😂

There were a number of original songs on the album, but I believe this and "Do The Bartman" were the only ones to get an animated music video.
