Hi again Jeff, I have been watching your videos ever since the thought of going wind and solar came into my head. There was much to learn but you explain in a way most anyone can understand. At this time we have 2/3 of the homestead (3 bedroom mobile home) on our system. I kept the electric range, refrigerator and one bedroom on grid for obvious reasons. I’ve placed 500 watts of solar panels (with an awesome passive solar tracker of my own design) along with 2 wind turbines (a 1600w and a 480 watt). On typical days we are fully charged by 9:30 am and using power as we normally would, like computers, a TV, etc. We are making hot water with our diversion load all day long. We’ve even stayed up till 2 am entertaining guest. During poor weather (cloudy and no wind) on the 3 day in a row we’ve still had power till 10 pm. I’ve already had the thoughts that a grid tie would my next step and the film inspired me once again. With this video I see my next project. I just want to say thank you Jeff for being there along the way to help keep me pointed in the right direction.
Thanks Ron, that was nice of you to say. I have always loved sharing knowledge with others. I am not the smartest guy by far. Some guys are way more advanced then I am in wind and solar. I do love this new wind turbine grid tie inverter, first one on the market I think. Being UL approved .
MissouriWindandSolar that's awesome! What price range you think? Just send me a message or something. EBay is fine. I can't find this model out on the internet yet. It's something MWS is helping to introduce?
Jeff, I found this youtube, while I search for solar panel, at the time I write this, I am installing 1.5kw solar panel with microinverter, I will expand my system to 5kw and add a windmill to use take advantage of the wind from lake Michigan, I will order this inverter and the skymax 1000, that will give some power during winter months when the sky very cloudy, excellent info, I hope I can stop at your store on my next rv trip to MO.
that is a SICK ASS GTI SYSTEM you got there...... WOW NICE!!!! thanks for the great video Jeff and thank you MW&S most of all thanks to the SKYMAX kick ass GTI system... super thumbs up bud... thank you for the upload of this video..
MissouriWindandSolar I think the price will make it so anyone can start producing their own energy, I can not wait to install one of these setups on my house!
This grid tie inverter uses both wind and solar. What it does is look for what's putting out the most and uses that power. Say when the sun goes down and you have a 1000 watt wind turbine it will feed back the full 1000 watts from the wind turbine.
MissouriWindandSolar Can one simply tie their wind generator into the grid without this thing? I mean, if you have a 96vdc generator with a 96/110 transformer, can't you just put a diode in line, and hook directly into the breaker box? The reason I ask is because it's a 1 kw grid tie inverter. What if I want to run 2 turbines with 2 kw each?
Enjoyed the video full of info. It's a little over what I can do now but latter may do something like this. Just starting to look at Solar and batt small system now. Thanks for all the cool videos.
Jeff, This grid tie inverter produce 1000w total combine between pv and windmill or 1000w for each? Second question can I mound this unit outdoor under my roof line near by my power meter, I have 24 inch from guter to my outside wall. Still waiting to get more info on this inverter.
very nice Jeff. When you get the data logger setup and going its grate. uploads all the information to an online site so you can see in graphs 24/7 how much power its making :). Loved the review mate.
Thanks . It's about 95 percent efficient which is awesome. Those SUN grid tie inverters and ones like them that plug into a wall outlet are about 60 percent efficient and all non UL approved. They also blow up all the time on a wind turbine. So far we seen 720 watts out of the turbine at say 30 mph. I need another wind meter inside.
Quick question. If I want to hook up more than one wind turbine, do I need to purchase more SkyMax grid tie inverters, one for each wind generator? How does this work?
Great system and plan to purchase the 1kw Sky Max and Turbine, however you do not have a DUMP Load as part of the Tie-in setup. If the MAIN grid goes down, and unattended system is generating power, then isn't that a problem?
Thanks J. It's about 95 percent efficient which is awesome. Those SUN grid tie inverters and ones like them that plug into a wall outlet are about 60 percent efficient and all non UL approved. They also blow up all the time on a wind turbine.
dear friend enthusiast, Always see your videos, the problem is that my English is very basic! You have reached the third phase of the wind generator directly in the 3 plugs "MC4" ginLong the inverter? or is rectified? as is rectified if they are 3 wires?
I went to this product on your website and it says specifically that it will not work with wind turbines. Solar only. I emailed Cameron Dearborn about building a 4kw~ish system to tie directly into the grid and he responded with you guys not making turbines that can be tied into the grid. He also told me that your turbines, in my area (average wind speeds of 12.8mph), would only produce 400w. As I am interested in picking up three 1600w Freedom Wind Turbines and an inverter to tie them into the grid, I'd like some clarification.
Hey Jeff I saw your skymax inverter install. Do you think this inverter will work with my Apollo 650 watt ac 24 volts wind turbine for grid tie. I am currently using a 300 watt power inverter wind ac. I connect three phase to the inverter but I get only 7 to 10 watts to the grid at 70 volts. Am I doing something wrong or this turbine is garbage. Do you think the skymax GT I will get me 600 watts how much do you sell it for. Thanks Lake.
what was the m/s wind speed at that time while producing 600 watts??? its 1000 watt inverter...is it not good to use bigger inverter like 2000 watts???
In the mean time what do you recommend for an average household as far as wattage (When it comes to your turbine, grid tie inverter and tower packages) 2500W? 5000W? Now that the weather is breaking I am ready to start this project!!
Thank you for this video, it explains a lot. I am interested in the 1000Watt wind turbine and the grid tie converter. I do not want to mess with batteries. My problem is I live in SE Ohio and what I see on weather stations is the average yearly wind speed in my area is just under 16mph. I also see that most days are about 4mph, and of course there are the days with no wind. So I do have a couple of questions. Would it be worth the investment when factoring in my average wind speed? And do the instruction explain how to wire to my breaker box?
what are the input requirements in video you say it woks best with high volts i have a ghost wind turbine 48 volts dc 900 watt and 2.5kw solar in 2 arrays running at 24 volt
I see you already have the 5k model on your website. What other models will you have? I can see that it is the Ginlong inverter, and I know they come in 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.6, 4, 4.6 and 5k models according to the ginlong website.
Great videos Jeff. What do you estimate the payback period is for a system like this with the 600W 48V Skymax wind turbine and the grid tie inverter? I know it depends on where you live. We are in southern Illinois and weather and wind is similar to Seymour. Can you give me an estimate payback time on this system installed DIY in your area?
rastarito No it doesn't need a dump load. The controller has a built in braking system. Yes you could use it for the Freedom wind turbines but not the Freedom ll PMG.
So... your putting 600W back into the line, what if the grid goes down, will you be generating enough power to operate your house till the grid returns power? OR do you need to charge batteries and use an inverter?
MissouriWindandSolar So .. then the only real purpose of this device is to sell back power to the power company then? My house works on a 5KW supply line, how many of these wind turbines would I need, not to use any power but get a monthly check from KCPL?
John Henry Reaves The purpose is to save money on power. To get a check from your power company each month depends how much power you use and how windy it is where you live, also don't buy lots of small generators thats expensive and looks ugly, just get one large one maybe 6kw should be enough.
im confused. the video explains how to connect to a wind turbine, however, if one checks out the links provided and looks at all of the related descriptions, right under every one of them it will show: "cannot be used for wind turbine applications". now, why is he hooking it up to a wind turbine? there are not any warnings in the video not to, and if it doesnt matter all that much, shouldnt the warning under the description of all of them be removed? i couldnt locate on the website an inverter that uses wind power. please explain. next stop: email!
Hi Jeff, do you carry much bigger capacity grid tie inverter? i am talking about a12kw+ power. I am going to use it in a mini hydro power plant. I am looking for more equipment on my project an wondering if i could contact you by email. Great video. Thanks!
Hi Jeff I know you sell a set up with everything you need for hookig up SOLAR and WIND TURBINES to batteries. Do you sell a set up that is GRID FEED and BATTERRY?
Is this legal in all states to hook into the grid like this that you know of? I am very interested in a system like this. Does this unit keep putting power into the grid if the grid is down? What sort of redundant safety system ensures this wont happen and thanks for the videos.
Were going to try that next Frank. We need to program in a power curve for it. Not sure how to do that yet but I am going to give it a try.Man the roof mount with this grid tie inverter is going to solve a lot of problems for people that can't have a tower and don't want batteries. The SkyMax turbine is very quiet for in town use. It's real easy to setup if you can turn a screw driver, LOL. Which a lot of people can't. Nice to hear from ya Jeff
MissouriWindandSolar Thank you! Your videos are the only ones that I have watched, that explain what the nuts and bolts are for these types of systems. You should add some of your customer testimonials to your videos for future customer F.Y.I. Great job!
Would this wind turbine work with a grid tie inverter that can be plugged into an outlet? I'm very new to this but really want to try. I've been watching your videos for two days. Thank you for the effort! Very educational!
Best things to do: 1 - Email your questions to sales@windandsolar.com 2 - Call our sales team at 417-708-5359 3 - Attend a workshop - windandsolar.com/workshop/ We can get you pretty much any information you need through those channels!
You could kick off 1 AC or DC Motor to turn Witts free energy AC to heating or bulbs Will power all day long speed set on USA plug Motor speed controller to belt cogs same as shaft diameter
Hi, Jeff it almost week or more I fund your video in youtube which is very useful for me, to understand better solar and wind power and how to use it, thanks a lot. by the way my name is Khulmi an electrical/electronic engineer from Afghanistan which just want to setup a renewable energy company here in my country because access to the grid is very low 15-20% only but we have 300 sunny days and also I fund there are a lot of places where there are good wind speed to put wind turban, just once question how can I buy one sample from your company? only ebay or there are any other ways? Thanks again and have nice week end. Best regards, Khulmi from Mazar-e-sharif city , Afghanistan.
I am glad you found my videos helpful. We cannot send to Afghanistan. The postal service has that country on a blocked list as far as I know. I realize that there are a lot of good people over there that just need power and have nothing to do with the war. I know that the grid is bad also. eBay is your best bet, place an order and we'll see what happens. I was told I can't ship anything to Syria either. The US government will put me on a list, and not a good one. Jeff
MissouriWindandSolar Dear Jeff, thanks for your quick reply, and thanks for good words about people of Afghanistan, there are offices of DHL, Fedex and TNT in the country I am sure Afghanistan is not in the blocked list by USA up to now, future we don't know, I will try eBay let see, I will keep in touch by email if you don't mind and watching your video. my email is kholmi@gmail.com thanks for your great job once again. Best regards, Khulmi
Two questions Jeff: when, not if, commercial power goes off will the Wind Turbine still provide electric? Secondly, what about feeding electric back down the line while workers are working problems on the line? I'm sure you covered this but I am one of those that must have been absent during the class. Oh, didn't see the WIFI portion either. Thanks for being there.
No the wind turbine will not supply power if the grid goes down. It will stop feeding back to the grid so no one gets electrocuted. That's called island protection. I forgot about the wifi. I will connect it up today on my computer. Jeff
MissouriWindandSolar That figures young generation kids are lazy. One day soon there will be no more welders, electricians or plumbers. Great videos BTW.
MissouriWindandSolar complimenti per il suo lavoro!! posso dire che mi è stato molto utile per il mio impianto che non trovavo le risposte,...,mi farebbe piacere ad imparare tutto,il problema è che siamo troppo lontani Buon Lavoro
I'm confused, when I go to your website, all the skymax inverters say "For Solar Only, Not for Wind Turbines" And here you are hooking one up to a wind turbine??

They have some great starter video's and I find them easy to understand and they answer the basic need to know information for DIYer's like myself.
that is a SICK ASS GTI SYSTEM you got there...... WOW NICE!!!! thanks for the great video Jeff and thank you MW&S most of all thanks to the SKYMAX kick ass GTI system... super thumbs up bud... thank you for the upload of this video..
WoW! I was expecting this to be super expensive and its not Great job Jeff!!
like the new Adjustable roof mount too!
Thanks Mark. This is going to change the way people look at wind turbines.
MissouriWindandSolar I think the price will make it so anyone can start producing their own energy, I can not wait to install one of these setups on my house!
Thanks Jeff explaining voltage rage in and out and Hz. Its a great looking GTI. Look forward to checking it out on your web site. Thumbs up from me!
It's 50 / 60 HZ Ian.
I will have a 1000 watt 100 volt on it next.

MissouriWindandSolar hello you have skymax for wind and solar thanks Jeff this is nice 👍
MissouriWindandSolar hello you have still this thanks Jeff
WHERE IS THE PACKAGE YOU MENTION HERE IN YOUR WEBSITE I DON'T SEE AND WHAT IS THE PRICE THANK YOU JOSE.
I wish I had that much wind where I live, as I would certainly buy one of your systems.
How do you bill your grid provider? what do you do, meter the output and invoice them or something?
Enjoyed the video full of info. It's a little over what I can do now but latter may do something like this. Just starting to look at Solar and batt small system now. Thanks for all the cool videos.
Your welcome. Start small and get it figured out first. Then you'll know what you need when you decide to go larger.
Very nice Jeff. Many thanks for the tutorial. My best regards to your wife.
Thanks Ray. Molly said hello.
Jeff
Many thanks Ron.
Where can I purchase one like the one in your video? I went to your website and I couldn’t find one.
Jeff,
This grid tie inverter produce 1000w total combine between pv and windmill or 1000w for each? Second question can I mound this unit outdoor under my roof line near by my power meter, I have 24 inch from guter to my outside wall.

MissouriWindandSolar
When you mention the SUN gti blowing up, do you mean that the fuse blows out, or that the inverter itself does. Thanks.
Can these be used with your Freedom wind turbines?
I went to your store. I don't see anywhere where you can buy the SkyMax grid tie inverter?
Another great video thumbs up from VA to the show me state!
Quick question. If I want to hook up more than one wind turbine, do I need to purchase more SkyMax grid tie inverters, one for each wind generator? How does this work?
Nice where we could find this inventer can you please link to the website..
Jeff How did that work out for you ??
I look on your web site and can’t find your roof mount for the wind turbine
How much of your bill there did it end up cutting? what was a monthly total for kwh?
Do you need to have a separate controller if you have a built in dump load on you GTI?
Where did you get our turbine Mounts?
will this work with the 2000 watt 24 volt freedom wind turbine?
so it so on the cord you said., ground , neutral and 1 hot wire= 120volts. do they make it for a 4 wire cable=240volts?
Can I use the dump load to charge a battery?
Great system and plan to purchase the 1kw Sky Max and Turbine, however you do not have a DUMP Load as part of the Tie-in setup. If the MAIN grid goes down, and unattended system is generating power, then isn't that a problem?
+Clifford Singer There's a built in dump load. It disconnects when the grid goes down.
that is very cool Jeff. I love the package, it dont get much better than that brother.
J
Thanks J. It's about 95 percent efficient which is awesome. Those SUN grid tie inverters and ones like them that plug into a wall outlet are about 60 percent efficient and all non UL approved. They also blow up all the time on a wind turbine.
Nice, I think there will be a nice market for this. Good luck Jeff
Thanks Ray
Quick question. How well do the turbines hold up with extreme cold -30 to -50 ?
Prepper Madness Very well
Is there any issues with ice build up, and if there is how do you deal with it?
the noise is the fan? How far are you from the unit. This would be heard inside the home for sure
I plan on starting with your SOLAR PANELS with an inexpensive charge controller and inverter from the batteries to power my work shop.
That's a really good way to go about it. Doing the shop first then when you understand how it works you'll know what you need for your house.Jeff
dear friend enthusiast,
Always see your videos, the problem is that my English is very basic!
You have reached the third phase of the wind generator directly in the 3 plugs "MC4" ginLong the inverter? or is rectified? as is rectified if they are 3 wires?
Ranyere Cunha Yes it has a rectifier built in.

On your website, where is the package you talk about at the end of the video? Can you link it here?
We will be getting it on as soon as they come in. Should be another week or 2.
On the website it says these skymax inverters are not meant for wind turbine applications?
lots of good info here Jeff.
Would we need a buy back meter from SCE to make the meter run backward?
Do you have any small grid ties for 1000 watt wind.
what was the m/s wind speed at that time while producing 600 watts??? its 1000 watt inverter...is it not good to use bigger inverter like 2000 watts???
In the mean time what do you recommend for an average household as far as wattage (When it comes to your turbine, grid tie inverter and tower packages)
2500W? 5000W? Now that the weather is breaking I am ready to start this project!!
2500 watt is a really nice size.
Thank you for this video, it explains a lot. I am interested in the 1000Watt wind turbine and the grid tie converter. I do not want to mess with batteries. My problem is I live in SE Ohio and what I see on weather stations is the average yearly wind speed in my area is just under 16mph. what are the input requirements in video you say it woks best with high volts
i have a ghost wind turbine 48 volts dc 900 watt and 2.5kw solar in 2 arrays running at 24 volt
Nice video.
How about the power curve? Do you use the standard power curve from the inverter?
Love your video man thanks for the help !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know your not an electrician but can you show how you hooked inverter tot he main panel.
I also want to accompany the WIND TURBINE with SOLAR PANELS for steady power
They compliment each other for sure.
Can you use your freedom 2 with these or is it specific to thr sky max for this tie in?
I see you already have the 5k model on your website. What other models will you have? I can see that it is the Ginlong inverter, and I know they come in 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.6, 4, 4.6 and 5k models according to the ginlong website.
We will have all of them soon.
Jeff
MissouriWindandSolar That's awesome, thank you! :)
Hi very nice video Jeff ! keep them up ! and nice looking set up ! :-)
WHERE IS THE PACKAGE YOU MENTION HERE IN YOUR WEBSITE I DON'T SEE AND WHAT IS THE PRICE THANK YOU?
Did this GTI get approved? Can't find it on your website...
I'm looking for a product like this. Any recommendations?
Hi, i am interested in this inverter for a 400w 24v wind turbine, and i also have a 2KW 48v wind turbine, do you have a inverter for a 2KW 48V,?
Hi Jeff I'm trying to find this GTI on your web site... have you not put it on there yet?
Not yet Nick
Jeff
I live in the north east up on a mountain ridge so I think that the WIND TURBINE will be my higher energy out put
I eventually want to power the house with your WIND and SOLAR PANELS.
What do I use for my wind turbine when I am off the grid?
ChileExpatFamily You could use an Outback grid tie inverter. It uses batteries.
MissouriWindandSolar Ok I did not know if I needed another piece of equipment?
Excellent - we would like info on distribution
How long is the payback on this?
Great videos Jeff. What do you estimate the payback period is for a system like this with the 600W 48V Skymax wind turbine and the grid tie inverter? I know it depends on where you live. We are in southern Illinois and weather and wind is similar to Seymour. Can you give me an estimate payback time on this system installed DIY in your area?
This is sweet Jeff! I love these type videos. Thanks for sharing bud!~~John
Your welcome John. I'll be some more on this grid tie inverter.
Very good. I love this stuff man!
I just got a 800wat turbine 6 blade what is the voltage
Can you add two wind generators to this system?
Unfortunately, this unit is no longer available.
dos this system needs a dump load? it can be used with the dreedom 1 or 2?
rastarito No it doesn't need a dump load. The controller has a built in braking system. Yes you could use it for the Freedom wind turbines but not the Freedom ll PMG.
Hello, How much for the whole thing without the WiFi ?
Jeff, are you familiar, or experienced with the Tesla Power Wall at all?? Any advice, or opinions??
So... your putting 600W back into the line, what if the grid goes down, will you be generating enough power to operate your house till the grid returns power? OR do you need to charge batteries and use an inverter?
John Henry Reaves You need to charge batteries to keep power coming into your home if the grid goes down.
So we can directly connect a 3 phase wind turbine to this gti without bridge rectifier. Am I right?
Uncle Rico does Wind and Solar now
i need thid grid tie inverter where i can buy this sky max
Jeff, would this grid tie inverter work for a 3kw 48v ac turbine? Thanks
They have larger models up to 5 kw. I am not sure but i don't believe you can use your 5 kw on this 1 kw inverter.
Okay, thanks a lot for the information. Your videos are much appreciated:)
Is this inverter available now?
im confused. the video explains how to connect to a wind turbine, however, if one checks out the links provided and looks at all of the related descriptions, right under every one of them it will show: "cannot be used for wind turbine applications". now, why is he hooking it up to a wind turbine? there are not any warnings in the video not to, and if it doesnt matter all that much, shouldnt the warning under the description of all of them be removed? i couldnt locate on the website an inverter that uses wind power. please explain. next stop: email!
Hey there can I still get both of these products? this is exactly what I have been looking for
Anthonys antics You can find them on our website. The web address is under the video.
Hi Jeff, do you carry much bigger capacity grid tie inverter? i am talking about a12kw+ power. I am going to use it in a mini hydro power plant. I am looking for more equipment on my project an wondering if i could contact you by email. Great video. Thanks!
Yeah i carry a 12 kw inverter on the website.
Hi Jeff
I know you sell a set up with everything you need for hookig up SOLAR and WIND TURBINES to batteries.
Do you sell a set up that is GRID FEED and BATTERRY?
Is this legal in all states to hook into the grid like this that you know of? I am very interested in a system like this. Does this unit keep putting power into the grid if the grid is down? What sort of redundant safety system ensures this wont happen and thanks for the videos.
what is up with all wiring code violations in background ??
Very good generator and products, thanks for the knowledge, I hope to get one soon, respect.......Seven Thunders
Do you still sell these? I can't find it on your site.
Hi Trent,
We no longer carry this product.
Jeff, Nice setup. Nice and easy and almost plug n play. Can it run off any turbine such as MW&S turbines?
Were going to try that next Frank. We need to program in a power curve for it. Not sure how to do that yet but I am going to give it a try.Man the roof mount with this grid tie inverter is going to solve a lot of problems for people that can't have a tower and don't want batteries. The SkyMax turbine is very quiet for in town use. It's real easy to setup if you can turn a screw driver, LOL. Which a lot of people can't. Nice to hear from ya
Jeff
What is the cost for this system and the estimated pay back time? Do you have to notify the local utility that you are using this system?
zeogiannes About $1500.00. It takes about 3 years to get your money back. Yes you should but most people don't.
MissouriWindandSolar Thank you! Your videos are the only ones that I have watched, that explain what the nuts and bolts are for these types of systems. You should add some of your customer testimonials to your videos for future customer F.Y.I. Great job!
were can you buy one?
Would this wind turbine work with a grid tie inverter that can be plugged into an outlet?
I'm very new to this but really want to try. I've been watching your videos for two days. Thank you for the effort! Very educational!
So.... How much for the package?
what are the specs on it? max power input from turbine?

Hi, Jeff
it almost week or more I fund your video in youtube which is very useful for me, to understand better solar and wind power and how to use it, thanks a lot.
by the way my name is Khulmi an electrical/electronic engineer from Afghanistan which just want to setup a renewable energy company here in my country because access to the grid is very low 15-20% only but we have 300 sunny days and also I fund there are a lot of places where there are good wind speed to put wind turban,
just once question how can I buy one sample from your company? only ebay or there are any other ways?
Thanks again and have nice week end.
Best regards,
Khulmi from Mazar-e-sharif city , Afghanistan.

Why can't I disconnect Entergy from my meter pole . And connect a wind turbine to my meter ? Theory minded all of sudden.
Jeff are you available to chat, if you are still working here.
Hello how can i order the kit?
Two questions Jeff: when, not if, commercial power goes off will the Wind Turbine still provide electric? Secondly, what about feeding electric back down the line while workers are working problems on the line? I'm sure you covered this but I am one of those that must have been absent during the class. Oh, didn't see the WIFI portion either. Thanks for being there.
No the wind turbine will not supply power if the grid goes down. It will stop feeding back to the grid so no one gets electrocuted. That's called island protection.
I forgot about the wifi. I will connect it up today on my computer.
Jeff
wish you would have gotten these grid ties, they would sell like crazy
Sure be nice if you had an installation crew here in mid Missouri.....
I have tried that. Just can't find anyone that wants to learn anymore.
MissouriWindandSolar That figures young generation kids are lazy. One day soon there will be no more welders, electricians or plumbers. Great videos BTW.
MissouriWindandSolar complimenti per il suo lavoro!!
posso dire che mi è stato molto utile per il mio impianto che non trovavo le risposte,...,mi farebbe piacere ad imparare tutto,il problema è che siamo troppo lontani
Buon Lavoro
I'm confused, when I go to your website, all the skymax inverters say "For Solar Only, Not for Wind Turbines"
And here you are hooking one up to a wind turbine??
Damn nice! Will this offering be packaged with one of your wind generators?
ny info. would be great
Very good and great
