Props to bungie, this exotic and witherhoard are my favorite exotics and the most fun they've added in a while, this makes me so excited for the exotics coming in beyond light

There is a good chance that, lore wise, it is doing the same thing.
according to the perk, the victim becomes that orb. (probably perm-killing the guardian)
and the lore tab says that it eats our light, it converts our light.

Cool weapon, though, in all seriousness. I wonder if it's debuff effect can stack with someone else running Divinity?
Don't forget.. The orb you use, when you guard it heals you when you block projectiles in pve not pvp from what I've seen while playing with it. This gun is amazing and that orb damage is pretty good for add clear and warring down majors. It is also really good if you want to go in there and get your team mates who are down provides cover for you and your team too...the list goes on lol
I LOVE the gameplay loop of RE in PvE. It is hella fun to go around and slamming the ball or holding the guard for a bit of group damage and dmg reduction. It is incredibly fun to use.
Players: "Hey Bungie can you fix or even remove 3rd person in PvP? It's inherently unfun and forces slow play for no cost to the player."
Bungie: "haha 3rd person gun go brrrrrr"

unlike swords you need to kill someone and pick up an orb swords are the only thing should be nerfed on the third person by only making it 3rd person when it has ammo

We really need a Trace Rifle pvp buff, or at least a Prometheus lens buff, ITS A SPECIAL WEAPON with a SLOWER ttk than 600 ARS.
This is incorrect. Optimal on a 600 is .67. All bodies on a trace is .66.
That’s not correct either. 600 ar’s is .77, not .67

Josef Stalin Prometheus has a .73 optimal TTK, it does 15 per headshot unlike most other traces.
Try it with a bow with the sling mod. Tap with the bow and switch.
Slight note on the Exotic Synergy aspect of the Spheres. Some aspects of 'melee' exotics actually do work with them. Stronghold's Heal on guard actually works with the Sphere's Guard, however trying this out myself ive learned the Guard on the Spheres is very delayed compared to a Sword as well as some funky stuff arising where sometimes ill Heal to 100% and then be one tapped by the immediate next shot.

This is one of the most interesting gun I've seen and something that's outside of the box.
It is, but is it usefull? I think it will be fun to use few times and it will stay in vault forever.

This weapon is great for the 750 nightfalls and revive your teammates while holding block with the orb

I like the idea of it basically converting enemies into a mini nova bomb, compressing them into a black hole, but I’m kinda into these interesting lore weapons

Fellwinter: "HOWDY"
For clarity: guardians can have 1 character buff, 1 character debuff, and 1 weapon buff at a time; the highest buff / debuff will always override competing buffs / debuffs. Ruinious’s buff from the catalyst works as a weapon buff rather than divinity causing a target to be debuffed. A similar occurrence appears with the charged with light mods; high energy fire and surprise attack mods can stack together for greater increase to damage. High energy fire is a character buff and surprise attack is a side arm weapon buff
HOWEVER- surprise attack is likely bugged, considering it also stacks with perks like swash n multi kill clip (when the stars align you can get a 360% increase to side arms damage)

As a heads up, if the orb RMB does 300, it can take out some supers. It will 1hko any super except a Nova Bomb user wearing Skull of Dire Ahamkara and bottom tree Arcstrirder who is mid-dodge if the opponent has 0 resistance, any except those and invisible Spectral Blades at 1; Hammer of Sol and Dawnblade up to 3 resistance; Blade Barrage, Thundercrash, Nova Warp and Nova Bomb up to either 5, and can kill Chaos Reach (and obviously Golden Gun) at any resistance value.
NGL, That lazer tag weekend was actually kinda fun when I look back at it. Would love to see game modes like that, like just goofy bs that doesn't make sense but where you can go in with friends and just have fun

I just got mine this morning.
This thing isn’t “meta”, not by a long shot, but god damn if this isn’t one of the most fun exotics I’ve used in recent memory. Bungie has been doing a really good job with exotics lately.

Just sayin' that Witherhoard and Ruinous Effigy - which are powerful, fun to use and truly feel like exotic weapons - came from the Darkness :D (yes i know witherhoard is from drifter but it uses taken (darkness) powers)
Blocking also prevents precision damage according to Fallout.
Like if you shoot their heads it just does the same amount of reduced damage as if you shot their body.

If the bubble can be shot thru from the inside. You could block with it creating the bubble for your fire team to add damage resistance and head shot protection. Plus your bubble can move.
Btw! @Aztwcross in the public event you can dub the ball created from the Trace Rifle and it will be accounted as Orb. I guess that applies also in the Pit
Was trying to decide which exotic to pick up from the kiosk this week, and the hilarious commentary here made my decision for me lol
Ruinous Effigy's damage buff is actually part of the buff/debuff system, it's not an exception. You get 1 weapon buff (stuff like kill clip, rampage), 1 outside buff (weapons of light), and 1 debuff. Works on any weapon with a damage buff perk on them.
Titan friends, the orb does benefit from Knockout on bottom tree sentinel
The way you talked this gun up i really hope bungie doesnt nerf this i really do feel like this weapon is in nice spot for dps phase it almost like in league with a six stack outbreak perfected combo its great

I love this weapon. It changes play up and let's people slam dunk stuff for fun. Plus the drain attack gives you hyper armor from knockbacks.
The block on the sphere can negate a sword, both heavy and light attacks get staggered and you can survive with more than enough hp to keep going.
Now we need 1 more Solar Trace Rifle (we have two each for Arc and Void), so we can have a 6 man Fireteam light show with 6 different Exotic TRs. 😂
Next trace should be a stasis trace rifle then we got a lightshow

I like it when exotics actually feel exotic and aren't just you have radar when you ads
They should do a lazertag crucible lobby, temporarily give someone a random trace rifle if they don't have one (like how scorched starts with scorch cannons).
Me and a clanmate were the first in our clan to grab it, and we honestly love it. We're hoping that some seriously skill based plays can be pulled off with it
Fun fact; you can oneshot supers with the heavy attack if they are below 40 resilience. It deals 185 to a 40 resilience spectral blade.
Another great thing about it is the ammo economy. I was running double special and very rarely running into ammo issues.
So....
Bottom tree Striker's Knockout perk works with the melee of the Transfiguration Sphere.
So if you proc Knockout, it gains 60% bonus damage.
It’s fine. Masterworked and already in the vault for whenever I do the prophecy dungeon and then I will use it as needed. I am assuming that it is like most weapons in the game, they have a purpose, but unless it’s required, I’ve already got the 5 weapons I use for everything already.
Slamming that orb reminds me of the good old fun days of crown-splitter. Also, if rift does return... HALLELUJAH!!!!! Gimme that rock!!
Divinity not being mentioned in the PVP traces, despite being currently the best PVP trace, is heartbreaking
Honestly I think its probably gonna be the new best weapon in the game cause the orbs can be picked up by teammates and can crowd control with them then it can do single target damage too and since it's gonna be making orbs it will have good ammo economy too so that's what I think
Does Felwinter's Helm Debuff stack with Ruinous Effigys Buff/Debuff?
I noticed that these two work well together.
Proc the F.H. Debuff then use R.E. to get the orb. *(a light tap of the trigger will kill)* Grab orb. Block.
Edit: If you use R.E. on a group but target the highest leveled enemy first, getting them to critical health and using a Finisher or Melee, then the stronger the enemy defeated via melee or finisher, the stronger the Debuff/Blind, followed by R.E. Orb Block.
Paying close attention and being careful, you can basically do this cycle until the area is cleared.
Combined with the combination of Devourer and Healing Rifts to extend duration and durability.
Just stay mindful of your situation regarding health, openings for chaining, and positioning.
Makes for a wonderful time in Mobs.

Can't go wrong with Healing Blinding Debuff (R.E. 30% F.H. 20%) AOE combination.
R.E. has a damage falloff at 20m hence why it is important to be mindful of positioning. Dont want to be too far away and not deal damage.
Anywhere between 12m and 18m is the sweet spot.
Bosses do their slam when you are 10m and closer.
man this is nova warp - the trace rifle
it is void, the slam is around the same range as nova warp explosion, the kill feed has the same icon as handheld, you can use it to block a shotguner because you get 50% resistance (contraverse only gave 40% before nerf) and it might let you survive a shotgun melee combo
if I would try to use it I would do it this way: block at corner when shotgun ape pushes, get 4-5 tick damage on the guy while I get shotgun meleed and just do a light attack and then look for a new victim
(I don't know if it will work but if someone feel like just try it)

Awesome to see myself in the video in that beginning crucible gameplay, I was like is that Aztecross? Nah had to be fake but later checked and it was, I just recently moved to PC and helping a buddy in crucible it was cool being on your team for that short while keep up the great work! (I was illusive a Warlock using fighting lion during the Solitude map gameplay)

The steady increase in damage of the self drain got me the first time I used it, I was just there in pve holding guard and then my hp slowly ate away, until I became consumed by the self same creation of my light.

I fucken LOVE IT...its a FUN weapon...I spent like 3hrs just orbing, oppressive grenading, voidwalkering Nezarecs Sinnin around...I actually had fun using this weapon that I lost track of time and ended up going to bed at 3am...FUN...thanks Bungie

Bungie has been killing it with the new exotics and weapon perks this season. Hopefully they can keep that momentum moving forward
I really love how much bang for your buck this weapon is with it's ammo consumption. Turning enemies into weapons that also have their own ammo really extends it's usefulness in drawn out fights.
There should be a command that allows you to throw the orb in an arc. Would work better for the exotic perk.
Dude I live and breathe trace rifles. I almost always have a trace rifle on me or equipped. This gun make some so happy that I get to add it to my arsenal.
Rift was my favorite crucible game mode in D1
A couple of things not mentioned: guarding with the orb completely negates boss melees (no damage or knockback) and the trace rifle itself inflicts little-to-no flinch on enemies

This gun is worth it if only for the hilarious factor. If you produce three orbs and everyone grabs one, you can literally dunk on the bosses in the game and obliterate large portions of their health. You can one off most yellow bars and even take out healthy chunks of champions. The dunk even staggers most non bosses which allows you to immediately move into sword strikes.
Glad you tried the devour cause I was very curious about that looks cool though to to run blocking with devour for pve
The best thing you said about this, was the fact it can be buffed and de buffed. Maybe Bungie is going back to the old way with buffs with all new weapons. Maybe sunsetting won't be that bad?

The melee light attack seems better on console where you can go directions other than straight ahead
This gun needed to be right when it came out. It has a higher chance of being op more than any other gun. Saves ammo by giving you another weapon that can do serious damage. So far it's been really fun to use, well done bungie.
