Using a broom and a dustpan for that liquid laundry detergent was a brilliant idea! You would have used so many paper towels, trying to soak all of that up. Nice job!
That's one way to get the laundry floor cleaned up! I keep going back to flylady but I fall off the zone cleaning pretty often. Like you said - progress not perfection!

For grout, my life was changed when I discovered sprinkling baking soda along grout lines and spraying with hydrogen peroxide. Let sit for about 15-30 min. Afterwards I give it a light pass with a scrub brush (maybe try a broom if you don't want to get down on the floor; or kids 😂). My shower looks brand new and makes me thrilled every time I see it... even my husband commented on it! So much more effective and easier on my chronic pain-filled body than the scrub sessions I'd tried in the past.
According to Andrea Gene you do not need the backing soda just the peroxide. She hates the baking soda cause it creates a huge mess you now have to clean up and you can get the same results with just peroxide. I haven't tried it as I only have dark brown grout I put in so I know it's supposed to be thar color.
I use that same mix to clean my glass cook top, works like a charm

OMG! This happened to me with the ugly plastic laundry soap container. It was such a mess to clean up. Months later, I’m still dealing with the aftermath as I don’t have the room to pull my washer and dryer out to clean under them. The floor was so slippery forever! Give yourself Grace as you aren’t the only one who has done this. 😁

Hey Shannon! Life Hack--- get a pool noodle and put it in the void space on the top of your washer and dryer. You can cut into it to fit around your wires if they get in the way. and TADA nothing falls behind anymore. This was a game changer for me with folding clothes on top and losing socks. LOL

We clean 1x a year for all our large appliances. We were doing every 6 months but it felt like a waste of time since there wasn't much to clean. I like seeing more end results 😅😅
Hey at least the floor is clean now. The other day one of my kids spilled water all over the floor. We used a towel to wipe it up. I said well I guess I don't have to mop now 😂

I'd just throw away that broom.... no telling how much glass is stuck in it. even after hosing it. I'm sorry this happened to you. I've done stuff like that... a few times! lol ... I am wondering if those are glass jars on your washer with powered detergent? Would they be able to shimmy over the back side of the washer?
I have the same laundry room layout as you and my husband put me a counter top on top of my washer and dryer. It’s a dream. Nothing can fall behind them and it gives you so much more counter space. It will also keep it from vibrating because it’s screwed into the wall.

I am lucky to live in an old European house, and my washer and dryer is in the basement, which has a drain. So, every summer I stick the garden hose behind those things and watch the bunnies getting flushed out. I dont have a sock collection behind the appliances. And the fridge... fairly often. Our cats hide behind it because it has to keep a bit of distance to the wall. So every time I break something in the kitchen, shards slide under it and I am afraid the cats little paws might get injured. BUT: Since we moved in here more than six years ago, I haven't moved my furniture off the wall to clean behind it. Treasure day will come once we move out! For the grout I use my steam cleaner and maybe some All Purpose Cleaner (let it sit). Natron and some brushing should work too, and our DIY market carries some professional cleaning agents and they have a grout cleaner. Spray on, let sit, brush off. Greetings from Luxembourg
I only clean underneath the washer and dryer when I get a new one or when it breaks and the repair person needs to pull it out.

1. Forgive your self. 2. When I have broken glass on the floor I use paper towels or tp only. There may will still be small amounts of glass dust on the mop head. Please wear gloves when picking up glass. ♥♥♥.

I keep kitty littler (plain, cheap, no clump) for ice and big messes. I think it would have made that soap mess easier to clean. It would absorb the soap.

Our downstairs is all tile, I use the Grout Groovy electric stand up cleaner from Amazon.
I'm also a homeschooling mom with chronic health issues, I'm working on giving myself grace but I struggle with not feeling like I'm failing my family...it's so hard!!

For little pieces of glass, use a piece of bread to pick them up. This way, you won't get cut.
I only move my washing machine if something spills. Having said that, there seems to be a spill of some sort at least 3 to 5 times a year🤦♀️🤦♀️ It’s usually one of our 4 cats spilling the water bowl and it goes under.
Honestly, the best way to stop rooms from getting out of control is to have less inventory to manage. I never believed it until we did it🙌🙌

you could put a towel under the bowls I have to do that bc we have ones that love splashing in the water, lol... even then they still manage to make puddles outside the towel zone.
or you can get placemats that have a lip or a serving tray. I assessed that wouldn't work w our kitties as the water would for sure go under the tray, they really need a catio to splash in a kiddie pool.
I am a "kick the ice under the fridge" person. A water spill wouldn't be enough for me to move an appliance...

@@minimaladjacent I’ve tried everything😆They have placemats but it doesn’t absorb a spill. I also have placemats my MIL made and they work, until kibble goes under it and they start lifting the mat with their paw….and spill everything🤦♀️😂
Nowadays when a spill occurs, I just take it as a sign that it’s due for a clean under there. 🤭

Jeeves represents an English Butler. There is/was a Search Engine named Jeeves.
I clean the washer and dryer zones twice a year. It’s the vents that need the clean outs the most so you don’t have a house fire. I do the refrigerators once a year. When I had my dogs and cats it would be twice a year. They’re all passed on now so I don’t have to worry about it as much. My husband had an appliance fire when he was young. He’s on top of our stuff. He’ll help and remind me.
This was a wow moment - so satisfying to get under the big heavy appliances and furniture! I do hate that moment where you've not listened to that tiny voice way back in your mind telling you something isn't a good idea - then you have that moment where you know that's an hour of work ahead you could have avoided. Annoying but so very human!

Just wondering why your dryer isn’t where the washer is because the vent is on that side. Also the ocedar mop has a scrubber attachment you can clip onto the mop handle , that’s how I scrub my grout and it works very well. I spray the grout then scrub.
Maybe she doesn’t realize that the washer and dryer doors can be changed to swing the other way.
At our lake house, we feed the catfish. There is a HUGE and I mean HUGE catfish that comes up and we call him "Shop-Vac". He "SUCKS UP" the food faster than a Hoover Vacuum cleaner. We named one Hoover, Dirt Devil, Eureka, Dyson, Shark and Bissell. You pour out the food in the water and they'll SUCK IT RIGHT UP FASTER than a VACCUM !!! WE RING THE DINNER BELL AND THEY COME SWIMMING FASTER the world's best Olympic swimmer. 🏊. 😂😂😂😂🐟🐟🐠 16:27

If frig is moved it’ll scratch the linoleum floor as it happened once & washer/dryer are located in opposite corners in basement and I don’t remember them ever being moved to clean behind. They are very old units & heavy as heck. Frig is very old too, got around 1986.

I use Dropps laundry pods. They are environmentally friendly, always melt, come in various scents/no scent, delivered to your door on your own schedule. Give it a try
Zep grout cleaner (from Lowe's or home Depot, I think) is highly recommended on RUclips
My laundry room is too tight to clean under the W/D. Won’t get done until I move or one needs replaced. LOL!!! Shannon, what brand are the jeans you had on? They looked so comfortable and stretchy 😊
I’m in TX too, so knowing the heat that happens in the summer. I’d suggest doing the upstairs next and save the garage until after Aug. I think you are north of me, so it might get cooler there sooner, but here in Central TX, I wouldn’t tackle it until Nov… or Feb! 😂
The way I would have filtered the glass shards through a wire collender and mopped it up with dirty laundry. I absolutely HATE waste

We have a guy who cleans out our dryer vent in the wall out, once a year. So when he's here I vacuum and mop under the washer and dryer. I know people who's houses burned down because of the lint trapped in the vent in the wall. So paying to have it cleaned out once a year is worth it to me.
🤫if you can't see it, it doesn't exist! 🤣 jeeves is a butler name when I get a robot vac I'm gonna call him Roberto. We have front loaders like you so I have a counnter top above it so I can fold laundry and leave my detergent there without it shaking off. Only down side is it's harder topull out and clean but I figured it was only once or twice a year so worth the convience the rest of the time.

Hay girl just wondering why didn't you do more videos I like watching you and I heard from a few people that using toilet bowl cleaner with bleach in it works on grout squirt on let sit for 30 to 45 min take a broom or hard bristled brush and go over it then wipe or mop clean Oh here is a hack that I do because I'm short I clean all my wall's , ceilings , cabinets and floors with my o-cedar mop it gets dust,webs all of it so no standing on stuff unless I'm cleaning out the cabinets makes it so much easier for me
Shannon try using the powdered oxyclean mix with dawn dish soap put in a spray bottle and spray the grout and let sit for about 30 minutes and get your stiff broom and clean water preferably hot in a bucket 🪣 and scrub the grout hopefully it'll work

I cleaned under my appliances twice a year. I vacuum the dryer every month. My brother is on the fire department (Fire Chief). House fires starts a lot from dryer.

I spilled a bottle of laundry soap in my truck on the carpet on the passenger side. What a mess! Ruined a bit of the carpet. I no longer have that truck, so I am absolved of my error. 😂
When repaired or replaced. They’re in an outside storage unit which is raised 6”. I can’t pull them out without tipping them over.
Laundry is my fave chore, but putting it up?! That's a different story lol.

Sweeping it sounds like a great idea, but my other thought would be mop it up with dirty clothes and put 1 in per load for the next 6 months. Lol.

ZEP grout cleaner is amazing! You squirt it and wipe away. I’ve used it on 3 houses now. I can’t say enough good things about it
But an actual grout cleaner. You have to be careful with what you put on it. Eventually bathroom cleaners will cause the grout to crack and come up. I learned this first hand.
There are some of those missing socks we're always talking about! Treat yourself to a new Libman broom, lol.
I've seen on another cleaning channel to just spray peroxide on the grout let it set for 10 minutes then scrup with a brush and then mop it up. I haven't tried it but Andrea Gene swares by it.

Maybe put a mat or lazy Susan on your washer. Then the laundry detergent hopefully won't fall off.
