The thing is, the Spino in Jurassic Park 3 being inaccurate isn't necessarily a fault of the movie since the dinosaurs are supposedly genetically engineered and not 100% real dinosaurs, so it actually makes sense that they wouldn't look like they really did millions of years ago. I mean, we already know that's not at all what Velociraptor looked like...
Actually, funny story about the whole velociraptor thing. The book said they were deinonychus, but claimed that deinonychus was rebranded as a species of velociraptor. Thus the things in the book were Velociraptor _Antirrhopus_ instead of the real velociraptor(v. _mongoliensis_). When Stephen Spielberg decided to adapt Jurassic Park into a movie, the sfx guys made the raptor suits big enough to fit a person, thus making the raptors as big as the humans in the movie. After they made the suits, paleontologists discovered a dinosaur that was exactly like the movie's raptors. These monstrosities were named Utahraptor. Here's a chart for reference. 4 is velociraptor, 6 is deinonychus, 5 is utahraptor. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/Dromaeosaurid_parade_by_durbed.jpg
River Greystoke II So you're saying that a dinosaur that was discovered closer to the release of the film, despite being larger than the actual film animal, is the better candidate? I think not.
I think the shorter legs may have been from a juvenile, the proportions in the picture just don't make any sense to me and the animal just looks like it's saying "Kill me now"
KyoZero Also, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure spinosaurus doesn't have joints in it's wrists, meaning it would be much harder for it to be quadrupedal.
Its possible it could have acted like a crocodile. Just bask in the sun or played in the water all day, but I'm still convinced this fossil is wrong. You're right, this could be a juvenile. It doesn't make sense how those guys assumed the random Egyptian guy they bought the fossils from were actually Spinosaurus.
You're one of the people who sees the dinosaurs as Hollywood monsters and not real creatures. They did it from chemical testing. The legs actually came from a 9 meter spino, but proportioned up to 16 meters they still look the same. And even if it had long legs it would be too front heavy to do anything.
Tyler Shewchuk Certainly more balanced out. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to walk around on land with a huge head, long body, and feet where my calves should be. Why do you think midgets are so funny?
***** That Spinosaurus looks much more balanced and purposeful now. It just looks stupid standing up. Body is too long, legs are too short. It would have gotten around much easier in the water, but still retained some capability on land.
***** Chimera is a word used by inaccurate statements and reconstructions They used Morocco Spinosaurus leg's onto a Egypt Spinosaurus legs and this is the Result Probably Morrocco Spinosaurus is a Subadult and they used its legs on an adult one. While agree 'new' spinosaurus is look like a Badass Crocodile Dinosaur or Water Dragon... It is just become another Joke material like T. Fan's.
I don't understand why people are so against discoveries like those of the spinosaurus or like, feathers on velociraptor, that kinda thing. I find it all so fascinating when humans discover new things about long dead creatures because they invented new technologies to allow such discoveries! It shows that as a species we are interested in truth and are not so stuck in our own stubbornness that we'd rather keep living with false information than admit we were wrong. I think it's super cool dinos had feathers! To me it makes them look even cooler, because I love feathers on anything and also just, I especially love it because it makes Sense they had them, and it gives them so much more depth than " scawy big lizards with big teeth". Personally I've ways been interested in animals and their instincts, the many roles they can play and how different animals are, even ones we would at first glance group together can be completely different in style of hunting/food gathering. It's fascinating to me. So hell yeah spinosaurus was like a croc! Honestly, way more badass than "overdone, boring t-rex clone". It's much more unique and interesting than just another mean bipedal lizard.
Because that’s how science works, scrutiny. Turns out that Spinosaurus was bipedal and only semi aquatic, it also probably hunted on land as well as in water.
Lisa Heschl I was reading more into it do now scientists are unsure if a spino was quadrepedal or not. It's really intresting actually. www.scified.com/topic/44547. www.skeletaldrawing.com/home/theres-something-fishy-about-spinosaurus9112014%3fformat=amp www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/476286/
@@artisticdinosaur4194 honestly anything is possible, there’s pretty much no way to know what it actually looked like unless we find a complete skeleton in the same position it died, which is highly unlikely. If anything id say just imagine it the way you see fit, personally I see it as being able to transition between the two. Edit : I just researched the current interpretation of spinosaurus and when compared to relatives such as baryonyx and suchomimus it fits in with them much more. And that original quadrupedal looks very bad still

Your channel and this video are fantastic! thumbs UP all the way and thank you for the surprising and thorough information. Made my day and I'm subbing of course! Can't wait to see more!
I hate when teachers say t rex was the best dino and the biggest like a pack of allousorus would be way more dangrous and spino is bigger alosaurs and allosourusos however u spell r like jurassic raptors or maybey ovriraptors r closer
Goji, I liked the spinosaurus in the tab. I usually think bulkier is cooler. I wouldn't be disappointed if it was the new spinosaurus. But if i'm going to be completely honest, the actual new spinosaurus isn't bad either. It's actually pretty nice and makes a lot more sense too. 😆😆😆
Spinosaurus has always been my favorite dinosaur and the recent discovery actually makes me love it more because it makes it more unique :3 I love the idea of a large crocodile dinosaur with a sail on its back.
my theory has always been that spine was quadruped and lived in rivers like a croc, but because of the huge sail it could keep its body temperature up unlike a croc and other reptiles that are cold blooded they must bask in the sun light to regulate body temp. maybe spino evolved from Suchomimus to not need the disadvantage of having to leave the water. maybe the huge sail acted like a solar panel to gather heat while it spent its time fishing with its head underwater?
Im no scientist or anything just going off what nature shows and my idea of how it possibly lived, idk what else you as a water creature would do with a giant sail?
There is a problem with that theory, though. 1. Spino was most likely warm-blooded or mesothermic. 2. the spines of Spino are not what you would expect for that kind of structure. It would of probably of been some kind of display structure. It makes sense. Your in prehistoric North Africa, you are a Spinosaurus. When your in the water you see a large sail sticking out of the water. It is much larger that yours so you best get out of there because that Spino took all that energy to build such a big structure.
(Suddenly this comment section is full of world class paleontologists)I don't mean to be rude but there is no need to give any ideas or informations about the spino because the Internet is full of theories and it will stay that way, and calling some one a "fanboy" because there defending what they love is an over used and unoriginal insult.
As they defend the old spinosaurus reconstruction only because they like it better instead of actual scientific research, "fanboy" is actually a pretty apt term.
Wait are people actually upset over this? LOL. Jeez the dinosaur was adapted to the water get over it, go fanboy giganotosaurus or carcharadontosaurus or something lol
Yeah but Giganotosaurus and Carcharadontosaurus will never be as popular as a T-Rex or Spino. Things that are less heard of tend to never be fanboyed upon
Funny enough I actually like the new Spino, reminds me of a hybrid of a Nile Crocodile or Gar and a Dimetrodon. Certainly far more interesting than what JP3 presented.
Vault Dweller Well, as of right now, the true form of spinosaurus is up for grabs Also, Arks Dino's are absolutely ugly af Thank god they didn't go for realism
Webbed feet make sense for an animal that spends most of its time in the water. Look at alligator or croc feet, they have webbing too. Granted, it's not as intense as the Ark spino but we can just chalk that up to artistic license
jody michaud Iguanodon was a ornithapod thus was naturally quadrapedal but spinosaurus is a therapod that is naturally bipedal not gonna finish this on iPad. Continue later with a paragraph
it's not really a redesign when you think about it, spinosaurus got here millions of years ago before any of the spinosaurus design is made. What I'm saying is that we are the ones who are redesigning it.
Funny how people actually get mad and can't accept the facts. Bitch your childhood wasn't ruined, how does one fanboy a dinosaur this bad. Blows my mind. Get over it.
+The Poke'Saurus Since we do not have a live animal, or a recently deceased one, as in a few thousand years, science has to evolve with new fossils that are discovered. Since the news agencies are all about sensationalism, bones of long dead animals aren't a Ratings grabber.
Connor Tyler the head being more at a person height looking forward instead of the t-rex model, in which to attack a person they would have to attack downward , makes it more intimidading.
The quadruped spinosaurus ALWAYS made sense to me. Ever since they discovered the crocodillian head shape, it just made so much sense to be quadruped. When I saw them in Jurassic park it just felt so weird for them to be bipedal and now I understand why. Also, I don't understand how it's less intimidating than the bipedal version. What can possibly be more terrifying than a giant alligator that swims through the water at the speed of a shark? Go watch videos of people being chased by alligators on land or videos of a crocodile death rolling a zebra into a pulp. I love quadruped spinosaurus. It's my giant, floppy dog-lizard child and you can't make me love it any less.
9:38 What's funny is that I have a big toy JP Spinosaurus and yeh, it also topples forward. I even have the arms set low, as if it has that knuckle walk posture, to keep it standing.
When I was like 10 year old, The JW3 came out and from that i always speculated that spino was an aquatic but the leg structure is something i was not expecting
Meat Dragon lions and crocodiles actually fight... lol and i dont know who wins, but it obviously depends on the environment, but on land i still dont know because crocs still are quite fast, not for moving but for attacking yes they are, and they are really heavy armored, but lions are really big, strong, and have some dangerous claws, and male lions are even stronger, but as we all know, not ment to hunt, but to fight.
Haha a couple of videos about crocs killing lions tho it's really rare to see a lion killed by a croc in the wild since the croc will probably devour the lion quickly or drag it into water plus it's impossible even for an adult lion to kill a full adult croc even out of water lions are though but their claws are useless agents the crocs hide its a different story when tigers hunt young crocs I've seen it young crocs are nothing compared to full adults that's all I have to say
+TardisArmyMax it's actually very scientifically accurate, since InGen never made dinosaurs, but genetic frogs mix with different DNA. That wasn't an actual Spinosaurus, but it was InGen's Spinosaurus. If that makes sense. "Nothing in Jurassic World is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals. And if the genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different. But you didn't ask for reality, you asked for more teeth." -Henry Wu "Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago. What is left of them is fossilized in the rocks, and it is in the rock that real scientists make real discoveries! What John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically engineered theme park monsters! Nothing more and nothing less." Alan Grant
IAMLH You have an great point. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, what I meant was that BECAUSE the Spinosaurus was mutated by Ingen, it didn't look like an actual Spinosaurus.
+Michael Laino Back When I first watched JP3 as a kid, I actually remember wondering why the Spino's hind legs were much like most theropods. While it would be an effective means of traversing land, it didn't make sense with the sail-like spine. The spine logically seems be a strict aquatic feature, and I always felt the creature would behave like a modern crocodile in its environment, thus long legs wouldn't allow it to submerge in shallow water or effectively swim. JP3 gave me the idea that the Spino behaved much like this video brings to light. I still assume the mysterious boat deaths at the beginning could have only been done with the Spino, and while more "godzilla" than "crocodile", the river scene made the spino seem right in its element. For me, shorter legs makes the creature seem more streamlined and lethal than before; and gives better balance and purpose to the notable spine.
OK people... rather then answering kids about who would fucking win rexy or spino (it really doesn't fucking matter) lets focus on the "new" spino and not about jp3 movie alright.. I'm pretty sure the creator of this video wants us to focus to new spino more then just spino vs Rex bullshit
Chris Pudjianto This may NOT be what the spino looks like - its all speculation. Imagine if u found a human skeleton fossilized after a million years - you being another unrelated non-primate species, how would you know how a human looks? For all your imagination, you might picture somethin else entirely based on your eco-system. lol
+TREY the Explainer I see. And made a little joke on the new Spinosaurus, regarding its hind legs, and a little joke nickname, and I also made a new Dinosauria OC and made it a realistic Spino, and named him after Imhotep.
Lets be honest, people didn't complain about the Spinosaurus winning against the T-Rex in JP3 because it was unrealistic. The original film had Velociraptors who were modeled after the much larger Deinonychus, the name raptor name was just used because the writer of the original book felt it sounded it cooler, with the excuse of a not widely accepted opinion that Deinonychus was a type of Velociraptor. And even then, the raptors in the film were much larger a real Deinonychus or any known dinosaur like it at the time. Speaking of which, do a video the Deinonychus, and one on the Utahraptor, the greatest raptor of all!
dragonstormx In the book he does explain that it Velociraptor Antirrhopus (I can’t spell) So technically they do have the right to call it Velociraptor. I also doubt people would care about the Velociraptors if they were called Deinonychus, since the average movie goer can barely pronounce Stegosaurus.

Pfffffft, it looks like an elephant seal with teeth and a shark's tail.

+River Greystoke II
Achillobator is closer to a JP velociraptor as far as size than a utahraptor.
Tyler Villarreal And Achillobator was discovered in 1998. 5 years after the _Jurassic Park_ film released, and Utahraptor was named.
HoopsAndDinoMan Utahraptor is way too big to use as velociraptor.
River Greystoke II
So you're saying that a dinosaur that was discovered closer to the release of the film, despite being larger than the actual film animal, is the better candidate? I think not.

I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed that
Which disc was it? 14?
Next thing you know In a couple of years the spino is gonna have fins and no arms.

While I prefer the old Spinosaurus, I still find this one to be pretty cool.
Tyler Shewchuk Certainly more balanced out. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to walk around on land with a huge head, long body, and feet where my calves should be. Why do you think midgets are so funny?
I agree, I prefer the 2005 spinosaurus but you can't change how a 60 million year old monster looked, but I like his new design the more I look at it!

How can people possibly be upset about this? They act like someone changed the costume for their favourite superhero or something
*****
There is a Cihmera case
***** That Spinosaurus looks much more balanced and purposeful now. It just looks stupid standing up. Body is too long, legs are too short. It would have gotten around much easier in the water, but still retained some capability on land.

I know that opinions are irrelevant in science, but I personally like the newer Spinosaurus.
dalton411970 actually spino is once again a biped
Lisa Heschl I was reading more into it do now scientists are unsure if a spino was quadrepedal or not. It's really intresting actually.

Does dude actually have a tooth from this dino or am I an idiot
It cracked me up when you added the spongebob "my leg!" sound effect, I was not expecting that. Well done
I think it looks cooler on all fours. It always looked kinda derpy walking on two legs with it's top heavy torso.
NoobiousGoobious it looks like it would just fall over on 2 legs 😂

@@melon6149 well..it looks nice but its literally impossible for Spinosaurus to be a quadrupedal!!!
And that original quadrupedal looks very bad still

the thing is t rex fanbois still hate spinos
15:50 thats a scientifically accurate fight
I hate when teachers say t rex was the best dino and the biggest like a pack of allousorus would be way more dangrous and spino is bigger alosaurs and allosourusos however u spell r like jurassic raptors or maybey ovriraptors r closer

HeyItsWill Thank you for watching them!
TREY the Explainer np! XD
Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus Why did you grow so big lmao
my theory has always been that spine was quadruped and lived in rivers like a croc, but because of the huge sail it could keep its body temperature up unlike a croc and other reptiles that are cold blooded they must bask in the sun light to regulate body temp. maybe spino evolved from Suchomimus to not need the disadvantage of having to leave the water. maybe the huge sail acted like a solar panel to gather heat while it spent its time fishing with its head underwater?
Robert Goodman .thats...pretty smart there...
i think you kinda........ right?😓
Im no scientist or anything just going off what nature shows and my idea of how it possibly lived, idk what else you as a water creature would do with a giant sail?
There is a problem with that theory, though. 1. Spino was most likely warm-blooded or mesothermic. 2. the spines of Spino are not what you would expect for that kind of structure. It would of probably of been some kind of display structure. It makes sense. Your in prehistoric North Africa, you are a Spinosaurus. When your in the water you see a large sail sticking out of the water. It is much larger that yours so you best get out of there because that Spino took all that energy to build such a big structure.
Homer the Triceratops spinosaurus was more likely to be cold blooded like a croc than a bird
13:48 Boy do I have news for you.
I like the new Spinosaurus but the thumbnail made it look like a herbivore in water 😂
once you see spino as a quadraped its impossible to look back. Looks so much better

+Dem Markus sein Profil Spinosaurus AEGYPTIACUS ;)
Domi Darko Yes, but in Latin the "a" is not spoken out, That's why many just leave the "a" out, for better understanding.
Anyone else coming back after New New Spino has been revealed?
I’m from the year 2028 and it turns out that one from JP3 was actually correct
Wait are people actually upset over this? LOL.
Jeez the dinosaur was adapted to the water get over it, go fanboy giganotosaurus or carcharadontosaurus or something lol
Yeah but Giganotosaurus and Carcharadontosaurus will never be as popular as a T-Rex or Spino. Things that are less heard of tend to never be fanboyed upon
Funny enough I actually like the new Spino, reminds me of a hybrid of a Nile Crocodile or Gar and a Dimetrodon. Certainly far more interesting than what JP3 presented.

Webbed feet make sense for an animal that spends most of its time in the water. Look at alligator or croc feet, they have webbing too. Granted, it's not as intense as the Ark spino but we can just chalk that up to artistic license
Pardon me webbed feat would be fine your right but the hands of the spino is the wrong way and webbed like feet
Yeah for it to be completely accurate it whould need to walk on its knuckles and be able to be walk 4 legged and 2 legged like a iguanadon
jody michaud Iguanodon was a ornithapod thus was naturally quadrapedal but spinosaurus is a therapod that is naturally bipedal
not gonna finish this on iPad. Continue later with a paragraph
I’m thinking spino looks like the ark spino

I'm not saying this Spinosaurus is a bad thing! It just doesn't look right to me!
+The Poke'Saurus Since we do not have a live animal, or a recently deceased one, as in a few thousand years, science has to evolve with new fossils that are discovered.
Since the news agencies are all about sensationalism, bones of long dead animals aren't a Ratings grabber.

For a second there I thought you were going to tell me that walrus abomination was the new spino. I was about to eat 18 tide pods.

Wow, with the recent new findings of the Spinosaurus tail this video has aged superb! Great work
It's more like a fight between a lion and a crocodile but you make a good point.
Meat Dragon lions and crocodiles actually fight... lol
and i dont know who wins, but it obviously depends on the environment, but on land i still dont know because crocs still are quite fast, not for moving but for attacking yes they are, and they are really heavy armored, but lions are really big, strong, and have some dangerous claws, and male lions are even stronger, but as we all know, not ment to hunt, but to fight.
King Ghidorah couple videos on yt? With lions killing crocs
King Ghidorah there are videos on YT when tiger kills crocodiles on land AND in the water so ^^
Haha a couple of videos about crocs killing lions tho it's really rare to see a lion killed by a croc in the wild since the croc will probably devour the lion quickly or drag it into water plus it's impossible even for an adult lion to kill a full adult croc even out of water lions are though but their claws are useless agents the crocs hide its a different story when tigers hunt young crocs I've seen it young crocs are nothing compared to full adults that's all I have to say
Dark Gamer use punctuation next time, I barely understand any of it
Spino was the best in jp3
+Michael Laino That may be your opinion, but know that it is extremely scientifically inaccurate.
But you didn't ask for reality, you asked for more teeth." -Henry Wu
"Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago.
+Anon E. Mus You thought that when you were a kid?
OK people... rather then answering kids about who would fucking win rexy or spino (it really doesn't fucking matter) lets focus on the "new" spino and not about jp3 movie alright.. I'm pretty sure the creator of this video wants us to focus to new spino more then just spino vs Rex bullshit

Chris Pudjianto This may NOT be what the spino looks like - its all speculation. New Spinosaurus turns out to be a different species
+Eric Bower That really doesn't change much, we still have a spinosaur with small hind-limbs... its just unclear if this is spinosaurus or not

Eric Bower thanks Mark Witton made a rather extensive, but nonetheless intresting post about the subject
+TREY the Explainer I see. And made a little joke on the new Spinosaurus, regarding its hind legs, and a little joke nickname, and I also made a new Dinosauria OC and made it a realistic Spino, and named him after Imhotep.
I thought it was in an article, that the Morrocian subspecies was a different species of Spinosaurid
Speaking of which, do a video the Deinonychus, and one on the Utahraptor, the greatest raptor of all!
dragonstormx Sometimes I pretend they are Deinonychus to feel better.
Or something like it
i only like utahraptor because it was the first raptor i unlocked in jarassic park the game
dragonstormx
In the book he does explain that it Velociraptor Antirrhopus (I can’t spell)
So technically they do have the right to call it Velociraptor.
I also doubt people would care about the Velociraptors if they were called Deinonychus, since the average movie goer can barely pronounce Stegosaurus.
havcnt they now found a raptor that was slightly bigger than the jp version with claws on its hands instead of feet?
