What if you also want wipe down and clean the fingerboard, or the body? Much easier to do it with the strings off the guitar. You should've just thanked the dude for the good tip and been done with it.
I usually just change the strings normally, then the bridge and tailpiece fall off, and I get surprised every single time like it’s never happened before.

My Epi's bridges don't fall off . Gibson should implement that little clip inside there bridges & hard tails.
