My mother has been trying to make mooncakes for past 5 years and not great success with recipes. Your recipes seem easy enough, I'll show her your channel. Thanks! 💯👍✌
Yes. Me too. Good to know the function of each type of flour. This is real learning, not just doing it without understanding. Thanks jasma for your thoroughness
I have watched over 30 snow skin moon cake demonstrations and this is the best so far. Very thorough with everything explained so well n u demonstrated very very clearly how to make the various kinds of v beautiful moon cakes. I can’t wait to make them. U r a v talented cook n excellent teacher. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed to your channel n requested to get all notifications from your channel. Also, your kitchen is sooooooo beautiful. Looking forward to learning from u more!
It's a joy to learn from you. You're great teacher with scientific and artistic culinary skills. Your excellent communication skills make your procedures systematic and succinct and thus easy to follow with precision. Thank you very much!!
I just subscribed...I'm learning so much from you! Will try out this mooncake recipe tomorrow, also excited to try some of your other recipes too. Thanks for providing very clear instructional videos, its greatly appreciated!
I found it sorry, I am going to try these this weekend, thank you 😊. I didn’t find anything at wal mart, I’ll be going out of town to find everything. I’ll let you know how they turned out
That’s a special filling of coconut. Have you try to infused pandan leave in it while steaming? I think it will be very fragrance. Also can infused the green colour on the skin. I will trying it. Thank you for this nice recipe.
Thanks so mucj Jasma for sharing! I appreciate all the details especially the steaming part of keeping the lid ajar. Your the best sharing I've come across so many sharing. Hate it when people don't add captions or share details. Great Job!
I am going to try this for sure once I get all of the supplies together. Thank you for such a well thought out tutorial. I appreciate you and all of the hard work you did to create these videos.
Love the video. I am curious, though, is there a particular reason that we don't want to use artificial food colorings beyond the usual "natural is better" line of thinking? If I wanted to use artificial food colorings, would it ruin the consistency, for instance?
Gracias por compartir tu receta en español!!!! 💗 Ahora te consulto, en Uruguay no se consigue harina de arroz glutinoso, se puede sustituir por fecula de maíz? Mil gracias por todo. 👍👏💗
My pleasure! You can store in an air tight container for up to a week and skin will become stiffer once cold but it should definitely still have a good texture when you eat it
Thank you for this beautiful tutorial! How should they best be stored if we want to gift them to people? Refrigerator or freezer? And optimal time to consume within making? :)
Hi Jasma, can you advise, my dough during kneading, it keeps getting stickier and stick to hand, as a result i have to use quite some flour to reduce the stickines.. I can't knead until a smooth dough like yours. Steaming time is 25 min.
Hi jasma thank you so much. Cos of you i am so excited to try making this mooncake. But why the stamp didn't stay on my mooncake. They disappeared very easily. Please help
Your tutorial is super helpful, i will definitely try to use your way to do some colored snowy mooncake this weekend, thanks for making such amazing video tutorials :)
Here's some encouragement: it's OK if they don't turn out! You will be the one eating them, and if you try to make them again next time, you'll know what not to do. The point of food isn't to look pretty, but to feed us :) Good luck~
My pleasure! The skin can last 3-4 days but I wouldn't recommend storing it for too long since it will dry out and have a rough texture. If the recipe is too much I'd just cut it in half!
Hi Jasma! Should you steam the snow skin for 25 minutes on high or medium heat? I can't find this recipe described in your blog. In the Purple Snow Skin Mooncakes recipe, that's about all the ingredients, and it says to steam it on medium heat for 30-35 minutes. For this coconut snow skin recipe, you say 25 minutes, but Google doesn't translate for me whether it's on high heat or low heat. I'm also writing this with the translator, I hope I can formulate my question well.
Hey! So I've never tried anything like this, only store bought mochi once. Anyway I've tried this recipe and replaced wheat starch to corn starch and I feel like they ended up great!
For the filling ingred, jus mixed till combined n put in fridge? I mean no need any cooking? Wat abt the 20g glutinous rice flour, is it cooked one, I mean oredi stir fried?
Hi you work is gorgeous, l have a question, what is glotunies rice flour, is it sometime other than ordinary rice flour? Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing ✌️😍👏💪💪💪👏👏👏
I want to make these the problem is ...is there a viable substitute for wheat starch? I am allergic to wheat. also can you use rice flour versus all purpose flour on your other videos?
It's sold at any east Asian grocery store. :) Amazon is last resort if you don't have a store near you. American stores near me carry some of these flours also.
Hi Jasma, I just made them!! I think my mold is bigger than 50gm hahaha oh well. They still taste nice ☺️ thank you so much for this easy to follow and informative recipe video! It was fun to make ☺️ just wondering how long they can last in the fridge? Thank you 🙏❤️
Hi Jasma. An excellent and knowledgeable young chef you are. I would try this definitely. Where did u buy the pretty stencils? Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed.
Halo jasma, i’ve just tried your recipe earlier and i find my snowy skin is too soft and sticky do you mind telling me what can improve the structure to make it sturdier? Thankyouu ❤️
Hey! You might need to steam for a little longer and also make sure you accurately measured out all the ingredients so there isn't too much liquid in the skin.
Hi Jasma , your video is excellent and I want to try . May I know how long I should keep the dough in fridge before I start to make the snowy moon cake ? Thanks Jasma
Thanks Jasma for your prompt reply . I did it yesterday and put at fridge for only 20 mins so it was still very sticky and the result was unsatisfactory. Can I put the dough overnight then ? Sorry for asking so many questions as I really want to make the same result as yours !!! I am the pink lover also 😁
Now worries at all! 20 mins is definitely not enough....yes you can totally make it ahead of time and chill overnight, if might become a little too stiff though so you'll just have to knead it a little to soften it up before shaping.
Thank Jasma for sharing. I think we can make the fillings one or two days ahead as long as we keep them properly in the fridge, not dried out. Is condensed milk a must. Normally I tried putting too much sweet in my desserts 😅 definitely will try this. Love the coconut fillings a lot!😍🙏
If only every food tutorial was so thorough. Beautiful job. I’m dying to try this!

How do you going store it? If you store in the refrigerator the shell will become hard?
These snowy mooncakes looks so delicious to eat.

You have to steam the filling!
Thank u sooooooooo much for this.I will surely try this.

is it ok to freeze these?
Can I omit the condensed milk and use sugar instead?
Hi you work is gorgeous, l have a question, what is glotunies rice flour, is it sometime other than ordinary rice flour?

Wow, these are beautiful! You're such a talented chef! Looking forward to making my own mooncakes.
Can I just use glutinous rice flour? Instead of different rice flour?

Where can I buy this mold ? I don’t see it at Amazon ?
So pretty. I am just not sure where to get this glutinous rice flour. The mold however I already have.
It's sold at any east Asian grocery store. :) Amazon is last resort if you don't have a store near you. American stores near me carry some of these flours also.
Thanks. I live in Germany. Not so many Asian shops around here but I try to find it.
Hi hi, do u still rem how long and the speed u used for the mixing?
Medium-low!
Hi, thanks for the receipt, love it. For the milk, can I use 2% or 0% milk? Thanks
Glad to hear that! Both kinds of milk work fine.
Thanks!

Thank you
Very clear explanations
Hi Jasma. An excellent and knowledgeable young chef you are. I would try this definitely. Where did u buy the pretty stencils? Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed.
I'm getting mine from local Asian grocery store. For better variety, I will also buy from eBay. Hope you found yours!
Can I replace wheat starch with Guar Gum or Xantham Gum to make it gluten free? Thank you!
Gums would thicken it, I was thinking the same but using potato starch or another vegetable starch. It might not be as clear as the video though
Great technique for the marbled design!
Thanks🥰

What is a good substitute for wheat starch? Wheat flour? Corn starch? I’ve looked at two Chinese markets here and I can’t seem to find wheat starch
I’ve never tried cornstarch but it seems to be a popular alternative

I dont need to rebake them once assembled and moulded right? Feels odd eating without baking
Nope! Snow skin mooncakes are like mochi, they’re steamed and fully safe to eat before assembly.
