    Doom 64 Community: www.doom64.com/links/index.html
Z0k's Episode 1 was a reimagining of the first episode (Knee-Deep in the Dead) of Doom 1 for Doom 64. With the additional detailing by Z0k, this became one of the most-detailed set of "tech bases" in Doom 64. Well now Z0k returns working on reimagining the second episode of Doom (The Shores of Hell) for Doom 64! This is a public demo of some of the levels.
I am playing this on ‪@styd0518‬'s Super EX+ port of Doom 64. This engine has a lot of nice features, but the first thing you will notice is weapon animations and expanded enemy variety. Super EX+ has an additional "complex 64" mode (not shown here) which greatly increases the enemy variety.

I like how Z0k doesn't just copy the original maps 1:1 but also makes them feel more unique to a large extent

Indeed! He has pushed the detailing so much that now he is making it an EX+ exclusive since it can handle larger maps.

@@Immorpher Seeing someone map for EX+/Super EX+ is cool, especially if that person is a long-time seasoned mapper. Who would've thought we got to hit a gold with this!

    Seriously tho
The 64's capabilities were heavily underutilized until it's main selling lifetime was almost done.
    To this day
    Rogue Squadron
    Doom 64
And a few other games that came out really show what it can handle.

      Factor 5
      The creators of Rogue Squadron
Were actually given permission to hack the 64's software for the game.
Nintendo already had plans to wrap up everything for the next console generation. But there were some games already slated to come out.
So to help expedite the development Factor 5 pretty much got a green light to make the highest quality fighter game no matter what.
      There was a co-op option.
Enemy fighter A.I. was supposed to fly around the map as close to real as possible.
But because that function crashed the game -btw, it was just barely functional-
They instead made the fighters fly on set paths.
Mix in the right amount of enemy types and most maps had a healthy challenge
The radar got nerfed in the main game but it was able to be restored through cheats.
Fog of war helped keep the game running smooth enough so they were able to focus on fighter sounds, voice lines, environmental lighting.
      They pulled out the stops.
Imagine if Nintendo had given the same treatment to a few other devs for some hit games...
