Still looking for a cdi file to download. The work to compile isn’t easy for a noob in computers
Wow we really were spoiled on the N64. Like I would have been perfectly content with Doom 1 and 2, but they went and made a whole ass new game that is basically the real Doom 3. I'm still gonna collect 1 and 2 tho so I can have the trilogy!
I didn't know you were on of the creators of this mod. Not to be rude, but is there any chance this will be made as a GZ Doom release? I have tried playing Etheral Break Down with Doom Ex Plus 4.0 and certain maps crash. I find in other versions of Doom Ex Plus there are straight up issues with the source port in general. I found Doom Ex Plus 3.6.5.4 to have the fewest amount of problems. The cutscenes won't even load or play if you use Doom Ex Plus 4.0, but they do load with version Doom Ex Plus 3.6.5.4. If you do play this mod using 4.0 the scripts work in the sense if you complete a level you can activate the three triggers or buttons when you enter the hub. If you play this mod using Doom Ex Plus 3.6.5.4 then they don't trigger at all. I have been switching between source ports trying to get through the mod. I have even moved my saves over to see which maps have been crashing. It seems to mostly be these 3, but there may be more. It seems whenever these source ports update it breaks a script in one of the maps. I know the Steam version is available, but I have tried running certain Doom 64 mods through Steam and they perform terribly. I get smoother FPS from the source ports rather than Steam. 1. Residence Of Evil 2. Templu Mortis 3. Technological Terror
We were hoping for a GZDoom release but Molecicco kept running into issues since we used so many Doom 64-specific features. But bug reports are appreciated! We will try to fix them for EX+ because we like that port a lot. We can look at those three levels specifically and see if there are improvements. We have learned a lot since this was first released. I will share your comment to the project devs on the discord!
@@Immorpher I like the port more than Steam. Steam should be embarrassed I checked the settings max FPS is 75 and they aren't native for the Steam version. Also, finding the wad version for Doom64 that doesn't use Steam is actually pretty difficult. The Steam Doom64RR.wad doesn't run with the emulator. Actually, the only things I really dislike about Doom 64 Plus is I can't have more than 8 save slots and I can't adjust the FPS. For some reason the quick load feature seems to be broken for every Doom 64 Plus source port. I almost forgot about Doom 64 Super Ex. I really like the new animations and new sprite animations. I do like the source ports they just have a lot of unique headaches to deal with. Regardless, Thank You for your patience & understanding.
@@Immorpher Must have been some sort of bug. I tried the level again for the Doom 64 Plus 3.6.5.4 and it didn't crash. I wish at the start of the mod it would have stated that completing certain levels would unlock the 3 seals the blue, purple and red. Because it seems like the mod just restarts once you finish a level and you think nothing of it. Not realizing the mod is tracking your progress and there are scripts that unlock the seals in the hub. I also tried running this mod with Doom 64 Ex Super and it does run, but the scripts don't work. In the sense your weapons remain on your person after you complete a level. I'm not sure if that is useful information to you. Not that it's meant to be played on Doom Ex Super, but you technically can still play it on there. You may just have to go through options and back to the main menu to restart the mod to play another level.

@@Immorpher I still have some of my old Game Informers that refer to the Dreamcast as a 128 bit system, when people still were sold on that. I do wonder now if that is accurate, will have to look into it. :)

And this is what I found "The Dreamcast supported some 128 bit vector operations so some people claim it is 128 bit even though vector operations are not general purposes and are not a commmonly recognised way to determine bitness of a platform. Modern 64 bit intel and AMD cpus support 512 bit vector operations but no one would consider them to be 512 bit cpus." Very interesting!
@@Immorpher Also it seems like at the time, game journalists and marketers didn't always know the technical ins and outs of these machines, there seems to have been a perception that Dreamcast and PS2 were about twice as powerful as the N64 and thus must have been 128 bit machines.

Some textures represent the bump effect better than others. Stone walls show the relief work very well.
Yes! Most of these are auto-generated and with that comes a mixed bad. So anything natural, like stone, works well. But anything artificial, like metal beams, then it is not as good. But we got someone working on hand building some of the normal maps.

That sprite that sheep uses it a little confusing coz the corpse looks very much like the life version. Maybe it's colours should be muted for the corpse.

MIDI order track is still confined to the vanilla one, I get it? I hope there will be a more extensive MAPINFO support to address that.
MIDI order can be changed, but I was a bit lazy haha. Custom midis are unknown if they will work.

Interestingly Doom 64 had an action for the player to do that (perhaps it was an early camera thing). But it never worked on enemies! So this is a different way using the camera system to do it for enemies. :)

Is it possible to run both the original game and the Lost Levels from the same installation, like in the PC version? I remember jnmartin84 mentioning RAM limitations.
If its not possible you could have a boot menu instead. Although having it in the proper menu like the official release would be preferable.
It's one of those things where I already know how to handle it, I just might not have time to work through the solution anytime soon. Next iteration of the tooling is to have it extract all of the maps from the ROM at build time and have them on the filesystem instead of the IWAD. Then the only limit for how many maps it can have is space on the CD and having the code updated to find them and use them.
Would be nice to see the full frame animated weapons added into this along with a coop and deathmatch on the maps that can support it over the modem or BBA.
New dynamic lighting is pretty cool. In your playthrough of the 'Evil Sacrifice' map, it looks like the older version of the level. If you're in touch with jnmartin you might suggest upgrading to the patched version (Steam uses it), to prevent a potential softlock problem for players.

Why add pain sound as a use sound? So weird. Haha Also does the plasma have Doom 1 rpm or Doom 64 rpm? If it has Doom 64 rpm then the plasma got a double nerf. xD I mean it also now have the overheat animation.
I dont think it has been doubly nerfed. I dont know exactly what its fire rate is though!
@@Immorpher Plasma rpm is nerfed from classic Doom even if it has a bit higher damage it's worse, and now with the animation/"cooldown" I see it as a double nerf. Haha Not a big deal at all, but still. xD
