I rode one is Salt Lake City. Insane! The power/torque is unexplainable. I got off that with a huge smile on my face and I’m 58 and ride a 2010 Ultra Limited. Loved it.
I actually REALLY like the Liverwire. It's price is ridiculous though, and the lack of charging stations in my area(small town Oregon) prohibits any serious investment into electric vehicles right now. Which is fine since I'm still having way too much fun and am madly in love with my Raider.
I test rode a Livewire a month ago and absolutely LOVED it. I'm not a sport bike rider, but put that electric powertrain in a Road Glide and I'd strongly consider buying one!
@@DavidSmith-fw6uj Honestly if a good EV touring bike came out with really good range, AND the charging network was in place to support it, yeah I'd straight up trade the Wing in!
Yes! I commented a while ago that I went and test rode one and you needed to check one out! I thought it was a blast to ride. So fast too! Glad you got to ride it!
@@lookatmeeee I'm going to file your comment in the bottom drawer, next to the people that thought large dogs were carrying small children across the southern border in their mouths.
Things I like about this bike: 1: it's fast 2: paintjob Things I dislike about this bike: 1: price 2: general design (i.e. blinkers, headlight, seat) 3: the fact that it has no gears 4: the whining sound / lack of engine sound 5: it is only really suitable for one single kind of riding (city centre), which is the one kind of riding I never do 6: having to wait for the bike to charge instead of gas&go (if you forgot to charge it at home, or try to take it for a longer ride than to work and back) 7: sportbike ergonomics without the sportbike looks 8: did I mention price?
What is next for you to test ride the Pan American? Love the idea of an electric motorcycle , yet like the Electric car in my country Australia , not really worth it unless you are living in the suburbs in a major city and are commuting to work, because not that many public chargers which means you are going to be using household power to charge.
Rode one a cpl months ago. Very quiet, quicker than I thought it would be. Light, only con is people won’t hear you coming up alongside cuz it’s too quiet.
I'm a wee bit jealous. The only taste I got of the Livewire was in a booth, and it was mounted on a display that allowed the rear wheel to spin. You could crank the throttle and that's about it.
Someone will figure out a way to harness the Harley sound and sync it with the speed you are riding. If they're not working on it already. Nice video Jess.
Jess your description was real time while on the bike. The cost is going to be blown out of the water when other brands come out with them. It will be interesting if they put the electric option in some of their bigger bikes.
Loved the Yammie style blur of the dash at high speeds 😂 Personally I love these bikes. Really wish Harley would do more street fighter sport bikes. *cough* *cough* Bronx
Our office has charging stations in teh deck and one front lot for electric vehicles. I would have one to commute and run around town on. But I'd miss shifting gears and engine noise.
I have to test ride one, But you said a lot of things that I would agree with, I need noise, vibration, and style. Plus we don't have a lot of charging stations. I am old school biker my next bike will be a 2021 or 2022 Road King!
"and when you wanna slow down you just sit up and use yourself as a sail" Exactly! That's why you see moto gp riders sit up before a turn, they're braking.
Electric motorcycles are great but still need improvement, a swappable battery feature would be good, like a gas stop but just leave your battery there and get a new one instead of gas. It would have to be standardised across all manufacturers too and not proprietary technologies so you wouldn’t have to get a specific model version
I saw the first one of these last weekend and I was surprised how small this bike was. Really cool bike, but just can't justify the price. Fist thing I did when I threw my leg over the seat was reach for the clutch.
I enjoyed hearing your first impressions since I know you ride Harleys and others. I figured it would be fast, but the price is too high for what you get, and you definitely have to be in a charging station rich environment and only take short rides.
Again excellent dialogue on this motorcycle. Almost the same as my son's Tesla Performance auto. I'd have to give it the same explanations. Power "like wow man". Have a great day.
Everyone I've seen do a test ride of the Livewire has giggled like girls over the acceleration. Look Flip na was given one to hold onto for a little bit and the whole shade tree Army was giggling like girls when they borrowed it. Weem's had a really good reaction
I want to test ride the livewire but my local (syracuse NY) dealership told me the Motor Co. Asked the dealership to pay somewhere are 60-80k dollars to install a charging network at their dealership and they didn't want to so therefore they won't be getting any EVs delivered
Hi Jess, I'm probably as excited as you at this moment, seeing the future of motorcycles, although it's going to be a very strange transition. The adrenalin rush from a screaming exhaust!, can be replaced by the acceleration, the massive torque can produce, and we can begin to enjoy the sound of silence! I would love to see a full review with specs. The first time to see a live wire, riding a live wire, quite a memorable moment!
You are correct. The bike is suitable for urban living, around town, short trip or so. NOT for riders who wants to ride to the mountains or to the next town for a day trip. Or join a premium towing membership.
Been riding for nearly 3 decades, and I understand Harley trying to not miss a market niche. This is a cool technology demonstrator for Harley as well, but I'll never love taking all the Harley-ness out of a Harley. I will always need the sound and vibration, exhaust smell, etc.
Cool! Dont think I would ever own one though. I also live in a RUAL area. I like the deer to hear me coming. How many miles on a charge? Also heard you mention quicker battery draw on highways. Are you going to test ride the new Harley adventure bike?
Greetings from Oregon sis Glad you got to test the bike it's not for everyone it has place in city streets its not my thing the down side is way too much money 😀be safe 👍
Your moving but no sound I like the live wire sound though when you speed up! Like one of them trains I'm definitely looking forward to a dealership getting the Indian chief dark horse Plus if sanders still has it I'm going to probably get a z900
The bike would be ideal for my commute to work but the price is prohibitive .It is not society that is not ready it is the product is not right for the market it is aimed at the bike is a city commuter and there are so many bikes that will do the job as well for less. I am hoping that it is a sign of things to come and costs come down rather than Harley killing it off quietly in a few years time . The bike is fun to ride it just costs too much .
I’m so glad that Harley came out with it. However they have rebranded it with another company. Is that a mistake? We will see. I’d love to have one but the price would need to come down.
In Central and South America it’s popular for muggers and hitmen to ride motorcycles on pairs where they can ride up quickly on their targets and getaway. So people have started to become alert to the sound of a loud motorcycle engine. I shudder thinking about them riding e-bikes where there will be no warning and no sound to track.
The range is my biggest issue with it. My best friend has sport bikes that compare to the live wire in performance and we regularly ride 200 miles one way
So, how do you like that Torque!? I have an electric. Not a live wire but just as fast! Omg I was so intimidated until I figured out how to make a custom mode and took the torque down!! Now it’s got the torque of a scooter. Lol
The price is very much a problem. This bike can work for Rual areas like Ohio, but.....your trip better be taking you back to home or work (someplace your be for hours) with at least a 110V outlet. Big city's have the charge network, and thanks to Tesla there are more charge stations then you realize. Now I've been waiting for you to talk about the live-wire. I've been looking at Electric bikes and really want one. The two biggest players at the moment are Zero and Energica. HD did good with getting in with electric as one of the Big motorcycle mfr's. Now I really hope that they do a cruiser version with DC fast charging. You ever need someone to review a HD E-bike for an extended bit just let me know. I will happily volunteer.
Yeah it's very sport bike looking. Apart from the cramped riding style, just not enough range for where I live either. Also as you said way too expensive compared to big cruisers / tourers. Maybe in 10 yrs might be enough quick charge stations around to use it.
I think you are on the money when you say it is to early. The price is high and the practicality doesn’t make sense Yet. Great video, thank You for sharing.
