Really awesome video, thank you so much! Been wanting to get around to testing EK for a while now but haven't had the time to dive-in. Thank you for not only showing off your build but also explaining it and the gameplay. It was really easy to understand. Now instead of making a fresh toon I feel confident enough to TR one of my main toons into an EK and not feel like I'm just stumbling around. So glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I hope to keep this format going, although I am going to try to get better at writing so my videos are shorter in future. I appreciate the kind words and look to keep getting better as I go.
Thanks for this. I play an EK, and sure learnt a lot and got some good ideas from this video. Will check out your build in more detail - sure wish my character was half as good as yours... one day... one day... One thing I could add - I know you (and others) go on about the weapon damage not being as important as elemental, but what about the Tempest cleave? With the 5(W) damage PLUS insane crit multiplier, surely at that point it adds a bit?
Hey strimtom. Could you take a look at the old school thf melee ek. I’ve always played casters/divines and when I played melees I would just make melee casters. I see everyone going wiz but I’ve always loved the good old tukaw build. So I came up with a bladeforged 14sorc 6pally thf with the newer changes coming to thf. I know I want to be able to self heal and be durable and self buff along with dish out some decent dps. And if need be respec and gear swap to be a decent off tank. I wanted the turn undead for confront any foe so if I were to lose pally I would most likely want a lvl of cleric. I feel bladeforge would be the best option with the double recon struct and the repair amp and recon items you can get. Do you have any ideas or could you make a video doing a thf melee ek? Omnipresence-ghallanda(17wiz 2rog 1barb) and Tukaw-khyber(16sorc 2rog 2pally) changed how I saw casters before ek was a thing
Does it still apply the spellpower damage as (dice numbers - resistance) * spellpower? Also, is that the same way for spells? Because that would mean that 20 fire resistance is a loss of 200 damage at ~1000 spellpower!
Question does Extend metamagic feat increase all the times associated with the competence bonuses to Arcane Siphon, Improved Shield, Action Boost Spellpower, Arcane Barrier, Synergetic Magic, etc etc?
I've never played any class other then art, rogue, cleric and paladin you know any build for wizard that would work for someone who has like no experience as main magic dmg dealer? (mostly as art and paladin I only used spells for buffs pretty much aside from the magic dmg from the art arm) mostly my art and rogue were repeater crossbow builds they were fun but trying to slowly work towards the completetionist past life things think there's 3 of them total and I wanted to try wizard next currently lvl 21 going to lvl 30 then reincarnating to lvl 1 and gonna start wizard (I play solo too btw if that affects the build I should try.) i'm still pretty bad at the game though I know some of mechanics and understand some of the dmg's and resistance things but barely played a lot of other classes :( if you could help me out at all I would really appreciate it ^.^ thank you ahead of time :P
I find the 12 wiz, 2 monk, 6 fighter build to be the most fun. Pure Wiz or 18/2 rogue were not nearly as good. I will have to try your build on an alt, I haven't played much since the revamp, I did my wiz lives on my main a while ago.
Adamantine is 35%. Shield is 15%. The enhancements from eldritch knight effect both armor and shield. Core 3 is a reduction of 15%, so the adamantine plating becomes 20% and the shield becomes 0%. Core 4 is an addition 20% (for @ total of 35%). This gives you 0% with the adamantine body. ASF effects arcane spells that have a somatic component listed that are cast from scrolls. Wands and arcane spells (cure/heal/raise) are unaffected.
@@Strimtom Thanks man!! I was looking at it as 35+15=50 And the 15+20=35...leaving 50-35 for a 15 ASF Really looking forward to playing this. Your Maverick Hunter Arty is one of my favorite builds. I think I did 3 or 4 lives like that (Like 3 or 4 Heroics and probably 6-8 Epic TRs?) Anyway, thanks for the response!
@@awfulwarlock91 I am glad you like that build! ASF treating everything independently is odd, but it works in our favour so I can't complain! P.S If you slot a -15% augment in a towershield you can use it without failure too, but you need to get proficiency from somewhere. Masters touch works well for that.
You get martial weapon proficiency at level 3 from the 2nd core of eldritch knight called Spellsword. Until then you will either need to use simple weapons like quarterstaff or sickle, or cast masters touch to use any weapon.
You need the melee feats for levelling and you don't get any spell like abilities so maximize gets expensive. At end game, you only cast level 9 spells so heighten is worthless, and maximize increase spell costs by 33% but only gives 150 spellpower. My spellpower was like 900 so I got a 16% increase in damage, which I felt wasn't worth it.
I wish they brought back the spell critical damage multipliers, so you actually could kill things with magic instead of melee. I mean it's about as viable as bard, but it's really dumb to play. I have 2 sorc, 3 wizard, and 3 cleric and 1 FVS life, and I don't want to even play caster no more. Damage is just so pathetic.
There are a lot of spell critical damage modifiers, I have no idea what you are talking about. Wizards can get over 120% crit multi, with more coming in sharn. With the spell pass arcane casters can do over 60k in one spell.
@@Strimtom Same as weapons having x3 crit multi and so on. Used to works same with wizards and sorc in past. Used to be default, not pay to win bullshit like Sharn, where you probably have 1 in billion drop chance. Also how often you do 60k in one spell? Is it viable to even use that spell? Nope, not really.
@@Strimtom Like caster Paladin is way more viable than caster Wizard/sorc at epics, and playstyle is the same. I mean sure if you have max gear fully optimized DC wizard you can do stuff. But you still have a good chance of doing absolutely nothing for 2 minutes, or do irrelevant amount of damage for way too big of a spell point cost.
@@mapu1 The new spells thunder stoke, iceberg, acid well, and the updated meteor swarm have like 12 second cooldowns and low sp costs. You might not have played in a while, I recommend you check out the new arcane casters! They are a lot of fun.
Because I had an endgame build in mind that focused mainly on crowd control. The amount of defense gained by using the Legendary Giants Platter is too good to give up on. For levelling, a two hander, single weapon fighting, and dual wield are better.
What are you talking about? The last few updates have all boosted spellcasters significantly. This new EK tree is the most obvious, but all the new spells and stuff don't hurt. I'm pretty sure we will also see improved updates to Archmage and possibly Palemaster some time later this year.

It's good but since you only get int/cha to hit and not damage, the multi means less. But yeah the straight melee damage is super strong.

Sorc Warforged is great as an EK.
What are your primary DPS spells you like to use? I see Tempest from the EK tree, but is that Acid well you use also and meteor swarm?
Would multiclass be good too, or is the core's worth enough to not multiclass?

try out with monk, eldritch tempest kill everything with handwarp, just a much stronger whirldwind attack. Its fun.
Nice 👍
