Native to every watercourse on the California Coast, as were Grizzilies until the last one was killed in 1906. Man is the illegal immigrant here destroying habitat and the food chain.

The area is ideal habitat for bears, there's no reason they wouldn't be there.

The bear population in this area is probably not habituated to people (which is a good thing!) so they do a good job staying out of sight. Unlike the bears in the Tahoe area that are so commonly seen they're considered a nuisance because many of them have gotten used to eating people food due to people's carelessness.

please black bear is harmless these people are exaggerating. they are lucky to have bears. i wish we had bears in bay area. i want to see them.

@UTeeNye They really are a rare sight. I saw one once in the Santa Cruz mountains just outside of Boulder Creek. Much like in Monterey County, however, it’s mostly mountain lions here in Santa Cruz.

haha you dont want to deal with these animals..... they are not pets and they will kill people. Not against them being around but don't try attracting them to you with food it'll set off a chain reaction.
