Tala, even a relatively small croc or gator can eat a person. When a croc or a gator grabs you - usually by the arm or leg, it immediately goes into what has been termed "a death roll". Assuming it's in water when this occurs, it will immediately roll over and over several times. Let me know. I've a few that were taken by a friend of mine who at the time, was working as a game ranger in South Carolina. At a local golf course, a man was wading around in a 2 to 3-foot deep "water hole" (or "trap") trying to find an errant golf ball he had lost, only to discover, to his horror, that right as he bent down to scurry the muddy bottom with his hand, trying to find his ball - AND - all the while ignoring the "watch out for alligator" signs that were posted all over - an 8 to 10-foot gator had been there all along. It grabbed his left arm, did the "death roll", and snapped the man's arm off at the shoulder..!! The man lost his arm. They killed the gator, and got his arm out. I am from Florida and I've seen a million gators. This is a huge gator! Being from Florida, I can tell you from my experience I wouldn't be laying on the ground with my telephoto lens. In fact, I wouldn't even be that close. The only reason that gator looks sluggish is because he has just eaten. Maybe a calf or a wild hog. But if that gator gets hungry or mad, he can normally run faster than you think!
not really actually, smaller gators run very fast but this one looks pretty old and he's huge, the max speed he can probably run is 7-10 miles per hour while the average human running at 12 miles per hour
I have never clocked one, but one ate my dog in Arcadia, Florida and I have been approached by several on the Loxahatchee river. My advice is to stay back farther than you think. Good luck with your alligator hunting! Be careful not to trip when running 12 miles per hour fully clothed in your boots.
Not the big ones. They are very slow on the ground. I met a similar one in the Everglades. It was a tourist center, and it was crossing the road just like this one here does. No one panicked, the people running the operation acted like this was something normal. The younger ones can be fast, and you do not want to walk very close to the water, especially if you have your dog with you.
These are probably the same idiots that think you should run in a zig-zag from them. Much like water turtles people don't think they're all that quick because they have no reason to waste energy, but when they DO decide to take off, you see just how fast they can be when they want or need to be.
*area infested with gators* Americans: "perfect spot to build a park" Edit: lots of people have replied in the comments that its a wildlife preserve not a park. I think if thats the case they should call it a wildlife preserve not "park B".
@Jason B. wonder if we've crossed paths, I go there all the time too! got charged at by an angry momma gator there the other day so I've been wary about going back for the rest of mating season! 😅
It moves slowly because it's not in a hurry, doesn't feel threatened, and doesn't wanna waste energy. Keep your distance and don't be in its way and it's unlikely to mess with a group of people. Wow, what a creature.
I grew up in Fl. I've seen them run, climb fences, climb onto porches, seen them sunning on car hoods, appear out of nowhere, I've seen them slap dock pylons with their tails trying to knock pets into the water. I love them & they're fascinating but quick & cunning. Yrs ago the wildlife authorities were in a boat trying to capture one to relocate it from a lake in Orlando at a condo complex & it propelled out of the water & took one of the men. It was on the news. People stay your distance & never harrass or impede their space. USE COMMON SENSE!
Wait so thats a park that the gator walks freely through and people dont feel threatened by it ? .....yall can have that lol.....dont get me wrong beautiful creature but i rather watch it from afar like youtube afar lol
Panic! at the Forehead how many times have people been attacked by an animal that “never has attacked anyone or showed aggression” 🤦🏽♀️ anything with teeth can attack y’all are so damn slow.
You know how many people have actually been attacked in the last 20/30 years? And from that, died from it? Not a lot. There’s been more shark attacks than alligator attacks. Yes anything can be dangerous but alligators are not going to attack just anything they see.
This is absolutely terrifying. I remember in 1988, a family who lived in Florida , got tired of Gators roaming in their backyard , and other back yards , So they moved 3000+ miles away from that scary state . It's not safe anywhere if you live in the Southern states , gators , scorpions, rattlers , Including roaches ,. There just nasty ,. Yes, doesn't matter where you are,. Washington state also has rattlers ,. Just have to be very careful where you are.
Terrifying? Statistically for someone it is much more likely to be randomly attacked by florida man than florida alligator. Yet we don't seem to worry when seeing a florida man walking down the road.
These animals are quite common in this region, which coincidentally is swampy. Some say they appear in the summer, so if you live in a Florida mansion, you might be surprised to see an alligator lounging in your pool or strolling through your grass.

They say Louisiana has more gators than Florida. They are present throughout the Southeast of the country, and attacks on humans are pretty rare. Of course, there are hurricanes to contend with too, and many other potential hazards and deadly animals. It is an exciting and interesting place to live. I had more near-death experiences in the Colorado foothills where I lived for ten years. I'm happy to be back in Florida.
Blue Husky theres an obvious difference between alligators and crocodiles. Not only their temperment but also size and what they prey on. Alligators eat fish, nile crocodiles eat people. Gustave has killed 300+ people around his lake and rivers... and is still out there.
Salt water crocodiles dont kill nearly as many people as nile crocodiles. Literally Hunderds are taken every year compared to a dozen or so a year in australia. The only animal in the world to top the nile crocodile in human deaths is the mosquito.
I was thinking the same thing lol but yea I guess it's different since I'm from California and it's normal to see Bears here but not gators I'm so scare of gators
Bell Torres gators are considered to be rather calm, and taking no real interest in humans. If you want something to run away from, I'd recommend saltwater or nile crocs. Those two tend to be aggressive, and don't mind making a snack out of humans
An alligator can certainly book it if it “feels inspired”...by a toddler in pink clothes and bouncy pigtails, no doubt. Are there any missing children or elderly in that region?
That Gator is at least 100 yrs old..As a Floridian I can tell you Gators are not as aggressive as you might think..Only really around mating season..You just get used to them being around..They are transient and go from lake to lake
Yeah, a gator will typically only bother you if you bothered it first. Why should something like that eat a measly human when it could easily take down a deer? Or another alligator for that matter.
RaidersACDC 489 It won’t bother u unless u go in the water or get close to it. Otherwise it won’t bother you. Unless it’s and aggressive one, and yes they do exist😂
On my local news, An Animal Trapper that captures alligators stated that you do not have to live near a lake for an alligator to appear in your yard due to alligators can come through your storm drainages. Now that’s quite disturbing to hear.
I have seen them down there through the grates. One that I saw was said to have been trapped down there for 12 years. The exit to a retention pond was blocked by large and heavy tree limbs. He was a big one and I gave him some chicken that I was having for lunch.
It's not growing on him, and it's not moss. There is algae growing in the water, forming a thin layer on the surface. When he came out of the water the algae stayed on him. It would be the same if you dipped your hand in the water, it would stick to your hand too.
Scientists approximately 250 years from now: breaking news we found the remains of a 250 million old dinosaur, it must be the ancestor of today’s alligators!
MASSIVE GATOR SEEN AT THE LOCAL PARK. Florida: We are here today just because of that. Rest of the world: I think we'll never go back to that park again, it belongs to the gator now.
@@cease_requiem6034 Gharials are also part of the family Alligatoroidea. Which technically classifies Deinosuchus as a species of gator. Just not an American Alligator. So both Purussaurus and Deinosuchus were giant species of Gators.
This particular gator is a regular down there and well known. He's also well known for not giving a crap about people. Other gators however, yeah stay away from them lol
Soooo u walk down the street right next to cars with no chance to escape if they veer off the the road. But cars almost never do that, right? And gators almost never chase people on land. Stay away from nests. This one was obviously not guarding a nest. When there is a nest near the trail, the rangers close the trail.
jamesEboi This gator can barely walk, let alone run. Smaller ones can run very fast, but only short distance because they tire easily. They weren't built to run.
I have placed myself closer to gators than I should have. They almost never do, but gators can run fine down that trail. Humpback (the gator in this video) may be an exception due to the shape of his back. There is a video of a mother gator chasing a great blue heron that is carrying away a hatchling down that same trail (the heron dropped the hatchling). But gators almost never go after people on land when not guarding a nest. I don't think anyone at that park has ever been attacked. They close trails when nests are near the trail, for good reason. Gators aggressively guard their nests.
On my first and only visit to Florida 4 years ago when my dad passed away, we went to a lovely little park with lots of boardwalks going through the marshes and water ways. While there, we did see an alligator some distance away, but was meandering between one part of the marsh to the other, taking its time. It was "normal" size, I'd say, not like these monsters! I'd never seen a live alligator in my life and to see one in its natural habitat was thrilling. We were completely safe where we were and was able to take several photos on my phone, along with lots of other wildlife, mostly birds. But I would NEVER want to get that up close and personal to any gator, thank you very much! Yikes!! ;-)

This is probably the biggest most calm gator I’ve seen a video of. They named him and can get that close without it charging trying to attack or ward them off.
It probably get’s enough to eat that it doesn’t need to attack. Also him being so big, he probably uses a shit ton of energy and get’s tired fast which is gonna make him even less likely to attack if he’s full. Little gators are usually the ones that are real pricks.

@Shattered Dreams yes I know they can be pretty fast but they only run when they have to change from a river or lake to another or something like that, you wont see one chasing you on the ground ,its just not worth it for them .
I don't understand how people in Florida carry on with their hikes etc... when there's Alligators all over the place. Anywhere else in America and the place would be shutdown till they're removed.
Because being born in FL is the shit! That's why. Lol. This is such an amazing state, the wildlife is beautiful. Just I'd stay away from gators, although as a kid we swam with them all the time...the Gator is more afraid of us than we are of it...it can kill you sure...but the chances of that are slim.
That's because they only go after tourists. Just kidding, but seriously, we are used to these things being around. I go bass fishing at least once or twice a week and see them almost everytime. I had one swim by me once while I was in a kayak that was longer than my 12 foot 'yak. They are smarter than you would think and usually don't want anything to do with adult size humans, but people here know to keep their kids and pets away from the waters edge.
Red u get used to knowing that they r near so u are always on guard but at the same time, enjoying your day. Most of us know better than to actually lay on the ground and be "awe inspired" by them though.

Talking about "easy pickin's": that moron Steve Irwin (The "Crocodile hunter" from Australia, before he killed himself with a stingray) did something so f'ing stupid, that I still have absolutely ZERO respect for that moron - even to this day..!! He held his infant son, close, out in front of a croc so his son, ostensibly, could begin to learn about crocs...!! Crocs can suddenly accelerate with that tail of theirs to unbelievable speeds for very short distances when they want to. Had Irwin's croc suddenly done just that, and had Irwin slipped and stumbled, dropping his son onto the ground at that moment, that child could very well have become an "h'ordeurve" (not sure of the correct spelling of that word...) for the croc at that moment. How absolutely friggingly STUPID can a person be - and this guy was an "expert"...?? What an idiot..!! It's one thing to put yourself in danger - that could've been forgiven, certainly if not forgotten. But to do something like that while holding an infant in your arms..?? I sincerely hope, in the next life, that Steve Irwin gets "bitch-slapped" right into the mouth of hell for that stunt..! That was absolutely reprehensible behavior, in my opinion..!! Absolutely unforgivable..!! That was even worse than that moron singer Michael Jackson holding his infant son two or three stories up, over the balcony, again, ostensibly for the crowd to see (forget the fact that the baby was completely covered up with a bedsheet..!)..!! I have no idea why "famous" ("well-known") people do stupid, idiotic things like that, when "normal" people would never, ever even consider doing something like that. But, they often do..! :-(
Listen, I thought the same thing watching him just stroll leisurely across that path like y'all don't think this could be a distraction and there's another one behind you??

You don't have to live in a swamp to see a gator. I had one take its tail and swing itself over my 6 ft stockade fence and it got in my pool. I had to call wildlife to come and get it out and I dont live in a swamp. On another street from me is a little canal with water in it and it was breeding season so the bigger ones kicked this 4 footer out and it went down my street searching for water and found my pool.
lived in Florida till I was 22. I lived on the edge of the wetlands away from the big cities. Only ever saw one this size in the wild once, behind my house. Molon Labe hahaha true, I mean I'm personally not Jewish but have friends who are and I think the reason people take offense is not that you're calling them Jewish is the way you're saying it, and you weren't calling me those names correct?
I'm not terrified of Gators or Crocs. They tend to stay away from people, but if one is truly hungry they will attack. So laying on the ground probably isn't the best thing to do when you're that close, because they're a lot faster than you would think and that monster would probably catch you before your fat ass got on your feet.
Michael Jameson depends on the specie's American allagators have killed less people in the us than dogs. But saltwater crocodiles are one of the few creature's that actually see us as a prey item.
as a Floridian I can say that you shouldn't fear alligators unless they're mating, hungry, or guarding a nest but you should be afraid of crocodiles because they will kill you in an instant if given the chance
In Australia, there are roughly seven saltwater croc attacks a year, with 25% of these proving fatal. Australian crocodiles are blamed for a spate of deaths in Timor-Leste which lies north-west of Australia in the Timor Sea. The nation has seen a more than 20-fold increase in the number of crocodile attacks. Of late, more than one person a month, in a country of 1.3 million, has been attacked by a saltwater crocodile, and more than half of the attacks have resulted in death. Look out people, they migrate! Maybe Trump should have built the wall after all......

"A creature that looks to be from a different era" That's because it is from a different era. The modern crocodilians we have today are more or less the same compared to 100 million years ago. That's how powerful their original form was; evolution barely changed them.
That's exactly it! That didn't need to change because they survived just fine. They are incredibly impressive creatures but it appears people don't seem to fear them. Which is insane because the sheer power they possess alone is enough to take us down.
They've changed a lot since then, none of the species from the past exist today, what we have today are modern relatives. American alligators branched off around 8 million years ago. What you're saying is like calling chickens a creature from a different era "because birds existed in the time of the dinosaurs". There used to be way way more crocodilian species back then too, way more diverse, even species that ran on hooves.

@@Pr3ct Alligators usually don't chase their prey on dry land. So if you don't approach them (or their nest), chances are great that they won't attack you. An average alligator can run on land at a maximum speed of 11 mph. However, this speed applies to healthy animals and short distances only.
@@Pr3ct “If you are ever being chased on land by an alligator, you should run in a zig-zag pattern.” Have you heard that myth before? Actually, the chances of you being chased by an alligator on land are highly unlikely. Alligators don’t really like to run long distances, and although they can travel very quickly in the water, they are typically slower moving on land. However, even with their heavy bodies and slow metabolisms, alligators are capable of short bursts of speed that can exceed 30 miles per hour. This speed is typically seen when an alligator is lunging after prey on the bank of the water, not running across a large area of land. According to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, there is really no reason to focus on the ground speed of alligators. Alligators are aquatic animals who hunt and capture prey that is in, or immediately adjacent to, water. Alligators and other crocodilians will go on land to feed on dead animal carcasses. They also may attempt to prey upon confined or tethered animals. So, although alligators are capable of running, they typically only do this to flee threatening situations. There is no documented evidence of alligators running after human beings or any other land animal to prey upon them. Also, there is no basis to the myth that you should run in zig-zag patterns to avoid a charging alligator. If you do find yourself in the unlikely (and unfortunate) position of avoiding a lunging alligator, you should run in a straight line away from the alligator and its habitat. Regardless of how fast alligators can run, zig-zagging or not, you should never approach an alligator that is on land, nor should you be swimming in water in which an alligator has been spotted.

John Lee yeah but for a short distance tho they give up really quickly
I've seen some pissed off mama gators that would make a pretty swift charge and scare the crap out of you! Those folks were closer than I like.
not really actually, smaller gators run very fast but this one looks pretty old and he's huge, the max speed he can probably run is 7-10 miles per hour while the average human running at 12 miles per hour
I have never clocked one, but one ate my dog in Arcadia, Florida and I have been approached by several on the Loxahatchee river. My advice is to stay back farther than you think. Good luck with your alligator hunting! Be careful not to trip when running 12 miles per hour fully clothed in your boots.
Even the ducks here are mean and vicious. I came near a duck once and almost lost an eye or two.
This animal not always move slow, sometimes they run. I'm amazed how this people stand up so close.
Exactly
That because these people stupid. 🤷🏻
Quote Goodfellas - "he might move slow...but, that's because he don't gotta move for anybody"
These are probably the same idiots that think you should run in a zig-zag from them. Much like water turtles people don't think they're all that quick because they have no reason to waste energy, but when they DO decide to take off, you see just how fast they can be when they want or need to be.

I'm in awe of the fact that humans still believe Florida is a suitable place to live.
As a Floridian I can say alligators don't care much for people unless they're getting poked at (or antagonized for that matter)
Gretta Clarkson lol try walking up to our Salt water crocs in Australia they could easily kill this alligator 😂
Blue Husky theres an obvious difference between alligators and crocodiles. Not only their temperment but also size and what they prey on. Alligators eat fish, nile crocodiles eat people. Gustave has killed 300+ people around his lake and rivers... and is still out there.
Rawhead Rex Salt Water Crocs kill people alot and this alligator could easily get killed by our Salt Water Crocs
Salt water crocodiles dont kill nearly as many people as nile crocodiles. Literally Hunderds are taken every year compared to a dozen or so a year in australia. The only animal in the world to top the nile crocodile in human deaths is the mosquito.
Rawhead Rex it's actually really common for people to get killed by salt water crocs

Some people have been desensitized by television, they fear no evil.

He held his infant son, close, out in front of a croc so his son, ostensibly, could begin to learn about crocs...!! Crocs can suddenly accelerate with that tail of theirs to unbelievable speeds for very short distances when they want to. Had Irwin's croc suddenly done just that, and had Irwin slipped and stumbled, dropping his son onto the ground at that moment, that child could very well have become an "h'ordeurve" (not sure of the correct spelling of that word...)
for the croc at that moment.
@@johnyoungs7453 tells us how you really feel! Lol, when you started talking about Steve and his kid, I thought Michael Jackson and that stunt, and then you tie it in. Cracked me up! People can be so stupid!
He is beautiful and his walk is awesome just minding his own business walking around like I’m the boss of This park!
I agree!
Guess what? He IS the boss of that park.😄
0-SO NOW HE'S BEAUTIFUL///AN HIS WALK IS AWESOME....AN HIS BITE IS..... PLEASANT? FLOR. I-Q
I got news for you, he is the boss.
THAT ALLIGATOR IS THE REASON I WON'T LIVE IN FLORIDA!!!!!###
brenda, every area has something. Gators feed just before the sun comes up and just before it goes down. Unless its breeding season they are fine but nothing I would get too close to.
Brenda Matthews man fuck that gator, id still move to the sunshine state.....WITH A GUN, just incase we cross paths and he tries some shit.
Jason, you get caught shooting a gator and you will also receive a heavy fine. They are protected except for once a year and even then there are only so many gators that can be hunted and you have to be on the list to hunt them
Why? They won't hurt you, unless you want to live in a swamp.
Gator walking like " I can't BELIEVE I ate the WHOOOOLE thing!! "
lived in Florida till I was 22. I lived on the edge of the wetlands away from the big cities. Only ever saw one this size in the wild once, behind my house. I've also seen 12 footers at the tourist traps down in the Everglades. They rarely get this big without someone feeding them, but it is possible. I can only imagine how old this guy is.
Wrong. Black caimans grow up to 22-25 feet
Whatever my anaconda is 11 inches beat that
The southeast is full of them. It's not just Florida. Anywhere their is water, swamps, etc.
I think you'll find that it's your house that was "behind" the Gator! 😉
I don't curse on social media but HOLY SHIT
hahahahaha thanks I think?............. and how is calling someone a jew bad?
101jumpergirl101 youre welcome. and I have no idea, but people sure take offense to it.
Molon Labe hahaha true, I mean I'm personally not Jewish but have friends who are and I think the reason people take offense is not that you're calling them Jewish is the way you're saying it, and you weren't calling me those names correct?
101jumpergirl101 no I wasn't directing those words at you, but they are holstered for any situation ;)
hahahaha ok good, and so true!!! ;P
Why did I laugh at this?
as a Floridian I can say that you shouldn't fear alligators unless they're mating, hungry, or guarding a nest but you should be afraid of crocodiles because they will kill you in an instant if given the chance
Remember the tourist golfing in Florida when she was dragged into a lake and killed by a gator. These people are lucky that gator wasn't hungry.
Ya he didn't get that big by not eating....
Yes I remember and she was hitting it with her bible as it was dragging her under water.
What got me was the guy diving for golf balls in a pond on a golf course. A gator took him out. I think every golf course down here has gators in the water.
I am happy to see an old gator like this still alive. Thank you.
They can live up to 100+ years!
c_enthusiast_x2 yeah unless a human comes and sadly hunts them
We have chased every animal out of his home, stole them and made it ours. Even If they’re put in a zoo, they get tortured or killed, trophy hunting, where ever they go they get in harms way. You can put him back in alligator alley, but for crying out out don’t hurt them, they’re as confused as we are. Humans are the most evil creatures on earth, you don’t have to like them but you don’t have to hurt them either. If people are afraid of any animals most of them just kill them PLEASE STOP....
@@marisiachody7684 read this again but replace the word animal w Indian or Black. 😂
That poor gator looks so uncomfortable having so many people taking pictures of him. He's just like "can y'all not? I'm walking here."
Doesn't look as if it cares.
he was on his way to 7'11
Ikr what if it's an introvert with social anxiety. The poor gator.
They Walk through the woods at night too.For all you campers that didn't know
"A creature that looks to be from a different era"
That's because it is from a different era.
@@AaaaNinja i'd say the form of a chicken is far more different to that of a trex
"100 million years ago..??" Sorry - you need to read your Scripture a little more thoroughly. The earth is actually only 6 - 7 thousand years old. We all descended from two human beings: Adam & Eve. Maybe your "ancestors" developed from a single-celled Amoeba or maybe a monkey or a gorilla. Sorry, but my ancestors all came from humans. I can't speak for you...!
@@AaaaNinja Sorry, you need to read your Biblical history/geneology a little bit more. "...8 million years ago..?" Sorry, but the earth itself is only approx. 6 to 7 thousand years old since it was created. You, like so many, have been duped into believing this "the earth is millions of years old" B/S. Modern-day "scientists" need this sort of timeline in order to further their "B/S" regarding their totally wrong and false and totally unproven theories. Alligators and crocodiles have been around since the dawn of time - since the animals that God created at the beginning of the world. They have not changed much since then. You've been duped into believing that old adage that suggests "If you tell a bullshit lie long enough and often enough, eventually, enough people will recite it & start to believe it." I don't wish eternity in hell on anyone, but if you continue to accept b/s "science" as "facts", instead of God's Word, guess where you'll end up spending eternity..? Ans: You'll have a choice of Heaven or Hell..! One more clue for you: It won't be "Heaven". And one last thing: "Eternity" is a VERY, VERY, VERY long time...!! :-(
Morons: I was ready to jump up if need be. Gator: You’re already lunch. Gators can move faster than humans when they want to.
Actually, most people can outrun a gator on land, plus gators can’t run very far. It’s in the water that you’re in trouble.
Actually they cannot. How far can you run at 35mph? Oh, you can’t approach that speed at all. You’re a snack.
Ok, fucktard. You keep believing that.
Big gator spotted!
Everyone goes to get a peak at a huge ass gator that can literally get you in one bite 🤦🏽♀️💀
"Peek", not "peak". A "peak" is the top (or "apex") of a mountain, for example.
That ain't no alligator 🐊 that's Jurassic Park 😭😂😂😂
yo fools they can run 25 miles a hour for 20 feet
No chance this lad is getting up to that speed.
When have you ever seen a gator run 20 feet?
🤣🤣🤣 Uh, No.
Where'd you hear that? Qanon? Actually, Hillary uses this gator to guard all of the captive little children, and the reason this gator is so big, is all the pizza he eats.
Nooooo, their top speed is 10-11 mph...for a few seconds!
Not when he has arthritis and people feed him.

Either make this space off limits to people or move the gator. I don't get it.
