I would love to know how they built the footings for this block of flats as the ground all around West Kirby is just sand. The builders obviously did a good job.
It’s like most houses on sand (and we’ve lived in a few) it’s a large reinforced concrete raft. Our block comprised three of these with flexible joint in between.

The new flood defences are poorly thought out in that they require 10 floodgates to be closed in advance of any storm conditions so that the wall is not compromised. To date there are road barriers to deter vehicles from using the promenade in similar conditions. These barriers are seldom if ever closed. What a complete waste of money.
I used to keep my boat moored in West Kirby. This footage just shows the strength of tides, fabulous pictures.
