Thats saul viera a badass narco corridos singer in the 90s young kid from paramount CA he got killed at bellflower CA in 1998 at a restaurant he was only 23. His career was going up! Making good money and he owned a black 1991 454ss a 1991 syclone 1990 corvette and 87 grand national. That crazy he had the badass ride back then.
My buddies Grandpa owned a dodge dealership just outside of Toronto. As a result of being a dealer, he got early access to special edition or limited run vehicles. He had a lil red express as well as the first Plymouth prowler in Canada.
I'd say the SVT Lightning ultimately won as it ended up being the most successful, but the GMC Syclone was probably the best because of how fast it was relative to what was available at the time.
The SVT was hot garbage. The original SVT was made to beat the original 454ss with the 3-speed, and when the 4-speed 405ft/lbs 454SS hit the streets, it demolished the SVT. Ford then waited 5 years to come out with the SC SVT, and by that time muscle trucks were dead, and it STILL couldn't match the 1/4 mile of the Syclone 10 years later. The SVT sold terribly because it had a 5k towing capacity and a TINY bed. Meanwhile, GM knew what people really wanted and came out with the Silverado 6.0 SS. Sporty truck, with AWD, and 345hp, but in a package that could still act as a truck and towing 7800 lbs and has a full-size bed. Then, in 2008 GM did it again with the 403hp 6.2L GMC Sierra that was unmatched for years and would walk a SC SVT every day while towing 10k lbs.
One of my favorite cars in my collection is my 89 shelby dakota with 12k original miles. I bought it when I was stuck in Nashville for a week because of a snow storm. dude, the lil red express is my favorite truck. As to the other two (lightning and cyclone) i'll take the cyclone. I've rebuilt too many of the lightning transmissions due to the lower sprag letting go because owners like to do burn outs in drive instead of low.
I’ve enjoyed Donut for years, but I’ve never watched this video. It’s probably good that I didn’t see this one when it first came out. It’s full of errors and is pretty silly. You guys have come a long way from these early videos, though, and for that I’m thankful. Love y’all, and keep up the good work!
I had a 74 chevy C10 that the previous owner (a mechanic) put a 454 in. It had Edelbrock intake, 4-barrel carb, headers, etc. Had many things happen with that truck, one of them being the exhaust pipes rusting off(or maybe they broke -- I used to jump hills. Don't advise, lucky I didn't kill anyone). You would not believe the noise of open headers. I'd have to yell to any passengers even driving slowly up a hill. Basically sounded like a quarter mile dragster. I was very happy to have some 2.5" exhaust and turbo mufflers installed.
@ThePatUltra This is all too true! Love the ads. Never had nor will I get a Dodge. I only drive brands that died. If Dodge dies though, I am fixing up something on their line though!

I remember a friend telling me about the Syclone. I thought he was lying. S10 with a 4.3 v6 turbo with 280 hp. In 1991, that was crazy back then. Atlanta city police Crown Vic only had 160 hp.
No they're not. And they BETTER not. GM has nothing good looking, and they'll probably just fuck it up like they did every other sport truck they made EXCEPT the Syclone/Typhoon. The 0-60 and ET for a 454 are an EMBARRASSMENT for a BBC. My stock 4.0 Ranger is faster in every way and gets almost double the MPG and has a 5000lb tow rating too. The "intimidator" was anything but. You know what? My friends were saying one important thing over the years: Monster and muscle trucks were always becoming cult classics. In fact they're still driven on the road. Plus, seen on dozens of both features and television shows including the long-running Emmy nominated "A-Team" (1983-1987) for Universal Television and Cannell Entertainment.
I actually am going to start a car channel myself in a few months (maybe Jan of 2021 actually as to just add something else I'm passionate about to my production company's portfolio) and what I have been thinking about doing these past few weeks to get it started since watching some of the C8 videos is this: Take a 2020 Chevy WT Shortbed, get it as cheap as can be and swap the C8 engine in it. As far as the transmission, I am still watching the field to see what R&D finds out about the engine and the types of transmissions you need to handle over 800ftlbs of Torque

You guys have come a long way from these early videos, though, and for that I’m thankful. Love y’all, and keep up the good work!
Never been this early. Love the video as always
I drove a 89 chevy SS that was heavily modified once and it was the loudest thing in the universe. It was absolutely insane.
Lucky you
I had a 74 chevy C10 that the previous owner (a mechanic) put a 454 in.
"Dodge Adult Toys"
poor choice of words there huh
or genius?
"my wife LOVES when we use my Dodge"
uuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... NO!! awesome label !!!!!!!
Me: Excuse me where do you keep your dodge adult toys?
Dodge: In the back..by the blow up dolls and condoms.
@ThePatUltra This is all too true! Love the ads. Never had nor will I get a Dodge. I only drive brands that died.
If Dodge dies though, I am fixing up something on their line though!
We need a new truck war with each company bringing these classics back.
The syclone is one of my dream cars.
My buddy has a 600whp 93 typhoon it launches so hard. Its fast as F!
just go buy an s10, and then buy an awd astro van. put the whole engine and drivetrain in the s10. tada, syclone.
The little red express weighed around 3900lbs, the 6100lbs includes the full payload capacity.
Thats correct
I was gonna say there's no way in hell that little single cab stepsides weighed 2300lbs more than my 96 club cab 5.2L Ram does.
JoeIsCrazyWillman you might want to check the weight of your truck, or your math . According to dodge your truck is 4000 curb , Gross 6200
@@mottorcyle5052 no fullsize extended cab truck is 4000lbs curb. The Ford Lightning (single cab stepside) with some minor weight reduction is 4300lbs. I thought that James would say "LIGHTNING LIGHTNING"
Nobody ever mentions the 350 sport looked just like the 454ss but it had a 350 small block with a 5 speed manual they were way more fun than the auto 454ss
yep. i remember the one that used to sit at my job.
There's a 454 SS a few miles up the road from my place.. I want it. I've been wanting it. I need it.
Campbell Gildersleeve go up there scream black lives matter and they will give it to you
They're garbage.
Buy something that would actually be quick.
My neighbor had 1, didnt realize it till 10 years after he moved out
The 350SS was cool also
get ready for a hilariously anemic 454.
Someone please design a modern 2021 Chevy Silverado SS, I know someone out there can 😩😩😩😩 another legendary truck
there actually is a concept truck

@@garywinthrop8326 I had a good laugh at that. It took me back to a simpler time sipping my code red mountain dew and watching Modern Warfare 2 videos.
I just watched this an hour ago and the house I just worked on had a red Shelby Dakota in pristine condition!
Wow. Amazing story. I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight.
I was waitin for the dodge shelby truck to show up.more 80's trucks plz🙏❤
2:50 Don Knotts endorsed a Dodge truck called "The Dude"?
In the 90's, Dodge missed their chance to revive it. Coulda made a Lebowski version of "The Dude".
The dude would of come from the factory with bad rings cause it smoked and already needing a bath lol..that would of been one lazy truck
Can’t say I remember this ever happened, partially because I wasn’t alive until 2004
The 90s were wild
I've seen one of the first lightnings in person. The owner added a toneau cover and a spoiler. Its like I'd Joe exotic was a truck
Missed out son I graduated in 94
TheWorstChannelYouKnow lmao that’s sick
i was born in 94 so i got to experience them sitting on the side of the road and in yards for sale for cheap...not anymore.
I did see one of the Sunroof company Syclone...
Best day of my life
My first truck was a 94 dakota, with the 5.2l. I'm getting ready to restore it. I also had a 92 s10, with the 2.8l. Even that truck, was fun as hell.
"Will we ever see anything like that again??" *shows ford raptor*
lol
# nobody wants an EcoBoost
Don't forget there's gonna be an 800hp yenko silverado next year
Cybertruck bruv
@@neilbrown82 actually I would want one. I think it's cool that an Ecoboost makes more than alot of V8 engines from the factory. And this is coming from a V8 owner and former first Gen raptor owner
@@floof4444 you don't it's got good numbers but at my job we have some transit Van's with the twin turbo EcoBoost v6 but the turbos are tiny as hell even my sentra nismo has a bigger one, but also they're constantly blowing out from driver use they're actually pretty unreliable even those stupid v6 diesel sprinters last longer
I dont care what the outcome is, syclone/typhoon is my favorite
I remember a friend telling me about the Syclone. I thought he was lying. S10 with a 4.3 v6 turbo with 280 hp. In 1991, that was crazy back then. Atlanta city police Crown Vic only had 160 hp.
Congratulations
They’re gonna finally bring the syclone back in 2021 with 750 hp, crazy.
A long, heavy 4dr with a junk 4spd AWD robbing lots of power away from a 2500's motor dropped in a 1500 chassis, meanwhile Ford had single cab stepside supercharged V8 5spd manuals and Dodge had single cab 8.1L aluminum Viper V10 6spd manuals.... GM's muscle trucks had a cool name and a sucky execution.
@@JoeIsCrazyWillman bro he just said it’d be cool to bring it back
@@JoeIsCrazyWillman Wait a second, what exactly do these trucks have to do with foot long penises? "The 0-60 and ET for a 454 are an EMBARRASSMENT for a BBC" black people weren't rich or smart enough yet in the 90's to realize that they liked cars. or dogs, or motorcycles
Thank you for covering the Dakota R/T!
Whenever an American car is described as ‘Ferrari-beating’, it should be noted that that is only until there’s a corner in the track.
Shhhhhhhh ;)
V6 gt
Ford GT40,Ford GT oh, & the Eco-boost Ford GT....
i guess this is true for US cars pre 21st century. Beyond that, US cars can handle relatively well, to outright brilliant (like the C5 Z06).
@Mike Hannigan when someone says a truck beats a ferrari they also hide the fact it is on a drag strip

Some of my earliest memories were of me riding with my dad in his 1974 1/2 ton Chevy pickup. It was yellow. It had a 454. It was violent.
My dad told me that it was slow at first, but all he did was install an Edlebrock intake, Holley 750 vacuum secondary, a set of long tubes, and decent exhaust.. that along with a timing bump doubled the power over stock.
Dustin Echos just goes to show how good Chevy engines are...
@@eazy1144 as a chevy guy, i am going to say, It goes to show how restrictive Emissions where in the 70's
edit: 1969 Camaro Stock HP -300 according to google
1973 Camaro Stock hp, 175, According to google.
@@eazy1144 Its not so much that Chevy makes any better engines that Ford or Dodge, its just that their engines are dirt cheap to produce because they rely on 60+ year old architecture as their base, the positive's of that are they are cheap, you can find any junkyard Vortec for several thousand less than a similar conditioned Ford Coyote, the negatives of this though are its restrictive design, they are dogs with heavily restricted airflow and antiquated heads, stock for stock any modern Ford will shit on them, but they can be fairly cheaply built to be monsters, personally as a Ford guy I'm glad Ford went the simplistic route with their new 7.3L big block gas engine, I think in the coming years it'll be a favorite for Ford guys to soup up and stick under the hood of the project cars and trucks.
@@someidot3699 that's gross to compared to net hp. That 300hp 69 Camaro probably doesnt make 220 net hp.
The 73 camaro probably makes about 200 gross horsepower.
Gross hp was an engine on a dyno, no accessories, open headers, tuned and timed to the max.
Net hp was tested exactly how they would be in the car. Full accessory drive, air cleaners, full exhaust system, and as lean as safely possible with timing so retarded sometimes it was spec to time it ATDC instead of btdc.
Just had to toss that Red vs Blue reference in there, didn't ya.
