  • I talk about how ads are absolutely terrible in 2023, and how popular corporations and influencers manipulate the consumer's mindset to get us to buy useless tat.
This was a little late getting out, because I'm a little gen-z gremlin perfectionist.
Part 1. There are Ads everywhere
    Part 2. Why Ads matter?
Part 3. Ads today are bad
Part 4. Frequency: too many ads
Part 5. Desirability: A little too good to be true
Part 6. Authenticity: Brands and influencers are not your friends
Part 7. Conclusion. Companies are not your friends
If you've watched the video, thanks for watching! What do you think of Ads today? Am I the only one who thinks the amount of ads are ridiculous??

And a story about a young man who is all the wrong crowds.
For everyone's sake, they should not fall in love.

This was such an interesting video essay! Well researched and fascinating. The temu style of advertising has felt particularly insidious lately. It was great to hear you break the ethics down.
I had never seen the Crusha ad before and now I think I’m obsessed with it?
I’m also so interested in your serial novel!!

Thanks Reba! The temu ads sound particularly like they are trying to brainwash you 😅. I had to play the Crusha ad, the song is such a banger...UK ads in the 2000s were truly wild. Your interest in my novel means so much, honestly, I'm interweaving the story with artistic/cultural references, sorta David Foster Wallace Style. I want to make it into a quarterly magazine one day ahaha!

The thing i hate about ads now is how there has to be someone from every racial / gender / ethnic / orientation group in EVERY ad.
As soon I see one of them; I make sure I never buy the product.
