Last year, I saw Steve at his shop, which is an amazing place, but I did notice the tired-looking boots. I just thought to myself, it must be like a drippy faucet in a plumbers house. :). Nice cleanup!
Steve here in the UK the term 'Cowboy' is given to a person who's extremely bad at his job . You could never be described as a Cowboy ! Watching the transformation of those boots was incredible and worthy of a thumbs up . 👍🏼👏🏼
Here in the US, the term "Cowboy" references someone who is an independent individualist and a rather stubborn person who does things their own way with a good amount of personal style. Imagine if you will, using the old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns as a reference where the main character would represent the definition of a Cowboy. Over here on the other side of the pond, Cowboy is a compliment.
As well as making great projects for your customers and making them happy, it's nice to see your looking after yourself as well Steve, great job as always 👍👍
Wow ‼️that was an awesome quick fix ‼️ when you were lacing up your boot it was kinda mesmerizing because there was no sound. LOL 😆 🤣🤪 😜🤭 Werk. Good job Steve. have a great day, evening, weekend ⁉️I don't know what Time it were when you done them‼️🙋🏿♀️😂🤣🤣😂.
"Cobbler´s shoes get done last" :D This video for some reason reminded me of two old sayings, the first a Finnish one " suutarin lapsilla ei ole kenkiä" i.e. a shoemaker´s children have no shoes. And a more universal one "one has to take care of oneself to be able to care for others".
Not to get all touchy feely but I kind of missed hearing your voice there buddy, haha. Seriously though, it was different. I appreciate the ASMR though, do your thing my brother. Always love your content.
it reminds me of my uncle. He was an electrician. In his home there was always half finished project here and there. Newer time to finish them. Its ok you do you own shoes. The problem is of cause, if that means, you dont have new orders 😉
I have laced my boots like that for 40 years now!! Just loved the pattern! Had my favorite cheapo boots for 15 years before the sides ripped out, nam canvas leather jungle boots. Then wore them a few more years.. They are like a part of you.
HEY Steve! ... I just had the same thought, I'm a wood worker making fancy stuff for people (never for myself) while my sandpaper collection is getting SNAFU in the same tired cardboard that it has been in for years. A couple of days ago I said "Forget this cobbler's children go barefoot crap, I'm gona build a cool rack for the sand paper." and I did! It came out cool ... OK continue ..........
Good to hear your voice.. even if it's only at the end. . Excellent video. And a lesson to all of us that do leather work... having hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of equipment and leather on hand.. and our personal stuff is held together .... with tape....
It's so nice watching you take care of your own shoes, reminds me that it's important to care about ourselves first if we want to go further in anything.
I really enjoyed this. Felt more like observing the process than learning. Which I can imagine is typical because when you work, you don’t normally have to explain everything.
Steve I really enjoyed the no commentary craftsmanship On cleaning up your boots! You should do more videos like this! As usual very enjoyable and you’re awesome! Thank you!
Thanks Steve. Glad you videoed it for us. We’re all the same the world over, so it’s great to see you being open with us about your much-vaunted Alden Indy’s!
It is a good thing when tired, but comfortable boots get a new lease on life. Steve, this was a very informative video concerning the top stitching. I have never seen this done before. It is amazing what sandpaper can do to scuffs. Thanks for showing the product, and the all 'round views of the boots. The absence of music or comment allows focus on the work in progress. Great video. Great choice of boots too. Bless you and stay well.
I can't come up with things to say about you that don't sound a little on the gushy side Steve, so I'll just say I enjoy your channel very much! I love shoes, and I adore seeing them repaired and made very close to, or, better than new again! Thanks, Lisa
i really like this style of video where you just let the sounds of shoe repair speak for themselves. obviously i still love hearing all the input you have in normal videos but these are relaxing
It's true--the cobbler's shoes are always in the roughest shape! This was obviously a labor of love for you. Enjoyed the ASMR aspect of this video, although it's not the same without you saying "let's continue..."
Those boots started off in Dire Straits and ended up being the Beastie Boys with a fabulous bit of ASMR thanks steve loved this video, pleased you've treated yourself :)
Update: I have finished one of the shoes. The new thread gives the uppers a completely new look, I love the new sharp edges. The fit definitely changed a lot, now I am stretching them back. This fix absolutely worth it. I took some pictures: imgur.com/gallery/hVidezO
Steve ,I think I'm developing a SHOE FETISH !!!!THANKS A LOT ,i now have 30 pairs of thrift store high end shoes. At least most of them fit me. Amelda Marcos would have LOVED YOUR SHOW.haha ok let's continue.
Well I am really shocked with you Steve..All the beautiful work you do with others shoes and bags and you was wearing boots in that state..You are naughty lol..Shows what a difference it makes with a bit of work ..stay safe 😀
Great video that could have used a little more dialogue, but grateful for the leaps from one task to another rather than watching every stitch or every stroke of every procedure. Well done!
Yesterday I thought to myself: "I wonder if there's an Alden Indy Boot restoration video on his channel" and "I'd really like to know if his own boots are Alden's". Now: Bedo's Leatherworks LLC just added a new video (56 minutes ago). The timing!
Just read a few comments and a lot of people seem to feel the same way as I. It was great for a one off but just not the same without you cracking bad jokes 😂.
Nice asmr video only thing missing is some (Hammer time) good and loud. Seriously though you rambling on and telling stories is the best part of your videos.
It's about time! Those things have driven me nuts, lol! I brush my boots before and after every wear, and keep them carefully cleaned and conditioned. I can't afford to replace them though, so they need to last me for the next 40 years or so, if I live that long. 😬
I couldn't believe the condition when I first saw them, but I get it. Sometimes things can just get so comfortable that you don't want to alter them in any way. My old USMC issued combat boots were like that until I finally bit the bullet and renovated them after 25 years of wear. I had Tony Wyatt put new Vibram soles on as well.
I loved it! I wanted to see a little more dressing it up but I know that would be silly given that those boots are your go to for almost ever day. I really liked it.
Last year, I saw Steve at his shop, which is an amazing place, but I did notice the tired-looking boots. I just thought to myself, it must be like a drippy faucet in a plumbers house. :). Nice cleanup!
he isn't weird 🤕, just a bit eccentric 😨
So zen to just idly sit by and watch this. I appreciate.

So it is true after all-“The shoemaker always wears the worst shoes.” Ha! Not anymore-Thanks for the video!
Steve K.
Also, the Hairdresser always has the worst hair, but makes everyone else beautiful!
Doh! Beat me to it heh heh.
@@sarahhardy8649 Me too
STEVE MY MAN!! U KNOW ur a gifted dude when you rebuild the shoes instead of buying a new pair!!! 👌🏼👌🏼😁😁
Excellent. Just like me being a contractor. My house was always the last house to make repairs or fix a problem. Loved the video. Thanks Steve.

This customer sure must be a hard worker! Look at those poor boots! I hear he has a thing for hammers! LOL 💕 🔨 🥾
Very nice work job .....good
The Russian bots are at it again
You are the king of shoe restoration. What you do is priceless for people who care about good shoes

Glad to see the stitching on Indys can be replaced in case I stain mine. Looks much better now.

We got the video and the customers reaction! Thank for sharing. Glad to see the Alden Indy's get some love.
Hope the customer is happy! 😎
Loved seeing you cleaned and moisturize a shoe! Most times you dont show that 💓

You are known for so many favorite sayings, I love to hear "let's continue and oh hammer time". Good to see you are taking care of you for a change.
Thanks! For the slow motion how to on your laces. And; Thanks! For the cheery face this afternoon.
Thanks Steve. Glad you videoed it for us. We’re all the same the world over, so it’s great to see you being open with us about your much-vaunted Alden Indy’s!
wow them are so awesome looking. brand new already worn in. beautiful job as always. thank you
Ive never seen a pair of boots laced like that. Learn something new everyday
Well you got my fingers and toes tingling, great ASMR!! Slow Mo lacing!!!
Have a great day Steve!

That hand stitching - beautiful. Glad you showcased some of it so the handcraft can be appreciated.
They look like my husband's footwear! Hard working feet and boots, have a long way to take him in a day
Love the new format. Short and sweet! ASMR
I can't come up with things to say about you that don't sound a little on the gushy side Steve, so I'll just say I enjoy your channel very much! I love shoes, and I adore seeing them repaired and made very close to, or, better than new again! Thanks,

Ok I feel better now..
thought you weren’t going to talk today.
Always good to hear your voice brother 🙂👍
I LOVED this adventure into the land of ASMR! Beautifully done. But I did miss the " Hey man..." quips. Well done.
i really like this style of video where you just let the sounds of shoe repair speak for themselves. obviously i still love hearing all the input you have in normal videos but these are relaxing
Totally agree. I love this type of video. It's not ASMR but there's something relaxing about just watching someone work without talking or music.
Next video: he finds a hole in his socks, so he spins his own yarn and makes a new pair.

Worth the time. I love my Indy Boots!
The patina on these were great I never would have dyed these
And here comes again new video I'm so happy, and now again I'm on waiting list for the next one. But the moment of satisfaction is soo good man.
Love the way you laced up those boots! I learned something new. Cheers.
If "getting your monies worth" was a shoe/boot, lol. Awesome job getting your boots to a better place.
Glad you decided to record the process. Always interesting, especially on a pair of boots that I would wear.

So, this is how to fix the moccasin stitch. I have an old penny, I think I can replace the old frayed stitches.
Thanks.

Great work your boots Steve, fascinating. Great to watch. Missed the “let’s continue” but would not have missed it.

Glad they got new lifts too! ... thought that gold thread in the background would have looked good for the stitching too. Nice restoration!
Thanks for showing your faithful boots some love! They’re great!
Finally!! I peeped them in some of your videos and wondered when.
Btw missed the jokes etc.
No $ in cobbling your own shoes, but, you have the same pride in your workmanship 👍🏼

Awesome video. The "no talking" was an interesting twist, but very relaxing. Great work, as always! I'm amazed by your craftsmanship
The slow motion lacing was epic!!
Great job sir! But it missed the comments and jokes during the process!👍🏻let’s continue!
Awesome video! (Especially as a proud owner of the ol’ calfskin Indy boots myself. You’re absolutely right, they’re amazing.)
Well! The cobblers children DO have shoes.
Well I am really shocked with you Steve..All the beautiful work you do with others shoes and bags and you was wearing boots in that state..You are naughty lol..Shows what a difference it makes with a bit of work ..stay safe 😀

You should have thought about winning the lottery instead.
@@okjoe5561 I might have to think about that one before I fall asleep tonight then, won't I. Terribly kind of you to remind me!
Having boots repaired by Steve is like winning the lottery. Just saying ❤️
@@laurelldockall2399 If I win $200 million in the lottery, I'll pay the $400 to have Steve resole my shoes.🙂
I'm sure he's mentioned his boots before this.
It's nice and quiet, so I can add my own "hey man" complaint commentary track.
Well used boots. Good for him on using them.
I think anyone who makes things by hand is fascinated by watching other craftsmen at work. Like your neighbor there, Jimmy DiResta.
Just read a few comments and a lot of people seem to feel the same way as I. It was great for a one off but just not the same without you cracking bad jokes 😂.
Those shoes looked like they were in one of those cars "on the wild" commercials - in the mud, dust, water, snow etc 😂😂😂
Oh man...if I had your skills, my Red wings would be alive today !
Lol 😆 ❤
I knew it! Steve is trying to trick us into watching him repair his own shoes! Again! (You gotta do red soles this time!)
I kind of thought there should be a saxophone solo or something during the slomo lacing scene.
At least you know that if you ever got a deep laceration, you would be able to stitch yourself back together.
Another great video.
Nice asmr video only thing missing is some (Hammer time) good and loud. Seriously though you rambling on and telling stories is the best part of your videos.
I loved it without voiceover!!
I really liked this vid! I actually don’t mind the silent vids every once in a while, kind of a nice switch up!
Steve looking at his deteriorating shoes over the years chuckling to himself "You guys will make for a great video in the future"
It's about time! Those things have driven me nuts, lol! I brush my boots before and after every wear, and keep them carefully cleaned and conditioned. I can't afford to replace them though, so they need to last me for the next 40 years or so, if I live that long. 😬
Oh Steve. Look at your shoes. It's time to make your shoes nice. Greetings from Germany Mr. Shoemaker👍😎😁😍
Nice video, enjoyed the story behind the boots
I like to imagine that he did all the work on the boots in his socks 🤣
Alden shoes are just great, I use to sell them from the 1980 to 2010 in the shop where I worked in Italy.
Awesome job! You do very nice work.
Good job I think one day I buy a pair
Cool! Somehow I missed this video before. Hope these boots will serve you well at least next 8 years.
Hope you have something fun planned to celebrate 100k subscribers. :) Very happy for you!
I really hope you were standing in the shop in your socks until you finished the boots🤣
No question, those boots have been worn, and we notice how well they've been cared for.
Oooh Steve! What a shocker, you have been so busy caring for others you have neglected yourself!
Was traveling with a coworker and it was hell at every metal detector because of the steel shank in his Indys.😂
I loved it! I wanted to see a little more dressing it up but I know that would be silly given that those boots are your go to for almost ever day. I really liked it.
Those come new with cork-neoprene soles and rubber heels, which I see have already been replaced. Nice job. And nice oak floors, BTW.
I found a pair of Indy’s at goodwill for $6 once! But they were way too small for me. But made a good sale on eBay for me.
Nice job of bringing your boots back to life.
Ahh...the parable of the shoe maker's children. Great video.
Great work... I just had to throw a pair of boots out last night the front of the soles came undone for the boots it was heart braking.
