This is a great idea with a promising future, but I think the sale price needs to come down a bit more for it to be appealing to the masses. I think with some higher production volume and more efficient building techniques, they could get the price per unit from 50k to around 20-30k. That would make all the difference for tons people.

When I was in the medical corps we had our operating rooms that would unfold like this. The big difference was we could tear it back down, attach special tires and drive off with it to a new location. Just so you know, I was in a MASH and we would set up an entire hospital using mobile building and specialized tents.
Hilariously done, and fascinating. And the materials! I grew up in a poorly built home that had flooding problems almost from the day we moved into it, brand new. I moved out when I got married, and into a long series of apartments, all either with repeated water damage, or built about 100 years ago and falling apart. Now I'm paying the price in major health issues. I just want somewhere clean and nice to live, like this!
Got my first apartment and things can haven't changed. A lot of bandages are done as repairs instead of doing real repairs and most maintenance men don't know or care to do the job right. Had kitchen floor floor done, 2 days and it was 5 layers from past bandages instead of real repairs. Contactor was only allowed to do surface repairs and my kitchen floor is slanted more than ever and the tiles we're put on wrong (overlapping each other). Maintenance man quickly noticed the slanting kitchen floor and said "They should've use leveling compound.". No no. Not when you haven't removed the whole water damaged floor, bottom of kitchen sink would be under the floor.
I'm a GC in Florida. I think that if Boxabl 'certifies' contractors throughout the US, the price to install and the scope covered should be fixed so that a buyer knows what the final investment will be. The only variable in the pricing should be the cost of permits, local impact fees (if any), etc.
What about the numerous complicated variables? Grading the land before pouring the foundation? Distance from the road the box comes in on? What the utility hook-ups are like and how far they are from the buildsite? Etc.
@Greg Spolar I'm not ignorant when I plainly see the majority of mobile home parks I have visited are placed in some of the most treacherous weather zones around. These are houses too. In many flood prone areas in the US (Mississippi, Louisiana) most homes are not built on platforms or stilts. In tornado prone areas (Kansas ect) most homes are not built underground and one must pay out of pocket to get a storm shelter of sorts. Many houses in mudslide areas (California etc) are still being built in mud lslide areas. Beach houses are still being built too close to the beach. Also, a lot of builders in Hurricane prone areas are still not building homes (ROUND structured etc) homes that are designed specifically against Hurricanes. No. It is not I who is igmorant.
Eh, wrong, licensed contractors, such as myself, not only DO take it into account, but, we're required to! Even customers with plenty of money don't want a sprinkler system in their house, even if they're pop down with nothing but a low profile plastic cover showing. Building codes have changed dramatically over the past 40 years in hurricane and flood zones, so, there you have that. Hiring an unlicensed contractor to save money will get you exactly what you pay for, every time!
Definitely keeping an eye on Boxabl products in the future. I am very interested in a stackable boxabl house ( possibly off grid) with 2-3 bedrooms on the second floor. I could make the “first floor bedroom” into a office or something. Love the idea, and the price is actually decent compared to a tiny home. Wish you guys good luck on your products in the future, cant wait for more designs.
Love it! The only thing I would change is the overhang on the roof. We get torrential rain in SC, and having a significant soffit area to help keep the exterior dry and mitigate moisture issues. If a surface is at all susceptible to mold or mildew, it will grow there in this climate. My husband did project management for a company that does FEMA builds for flood victims in SC. Something like this on a larger scale (FEMA homes in SC must be over 1000 sq. feet and have a laundry area). All of the projects that they did also had a covered porch. Contractors here have issues with different building crews taking off to new disaster locations and delaying the next part of the project. Something like this would be great to cut down on those problems and get people back into a house faster.
This can become a future of houses, it's not expensive, fire resistance, and pretty durable. This can become a good solution for homeless people as well.
I agree. we also need local laws to get rid of rules that would prevent these homes. like where I live. I have extra land, but they would deny my right to build a tiny home, which I would use as an emergency shelter or extra housing for my family so they don't have to be house broke. also, they need to come down on the price.
$50k is the house. Don’t forget to add price of buying, clearing, and prepping land for utility hookup ($20K), shipping ($2k), setup (??$$). Wish they would make a “Bottom line - How much does it REALLY cost” video.
For $50,000 you get a fully finished house. Whats not included in that price is your land and site setup. This can include utility hookups, foundation, landscaping, permits, and more. Depending on your location and the complexity of your site, this cost can range anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000.
There house costs $50,000 on their end, plus shipping Done, your end is the rest, you need to figure out, so for $100K that's really Not that big of a house, depending on Where you live, I suppose in more densely populated cities, that might sound like a BIG BARGAIN
Wow...50k is a decent price for a lot of homes already finished in my state, MO. So I suppose it depends on where you're located. East and West coasts may be better suited since their housing is so high.
One of the biggest attractions of the tiny house movement is always the PRICE! Which is something that varies between $2,000 - $30,000! Anything higher begins to take away from those who truly need them!
If you don’t mind sleeping in a toxic VOC chamber... This is amongst the very worst believe me, I’m not a competitor but a retired healthy home builder. This will sicken people! And our planet...
Logically, for those wondering, if they can stack them a owner could have a roof, pitched or shed roof for draiage, or snow load. I know they have heat and air. These homes are amazing, would love to find a spot for one here in the Kansas City, No area. Would love to be the first to live in one of these homes.
I wonder how strong the galvanized steel panels actually are? The one they put together looked damaged at one end. Could that happen easily while putting it together?
Stainless steel panels "how perfect is that seam?" Well, it's off by an 1/8" and dented on the top. Trolling aside, keep pushing forward. Cool concept if you make it affordable. Unlike tiny home builders who build a 400 sqft home for $88k +.
I've been following Boxabl for awhile. Love it! If they could put in a pocket door to the bathroom that would create much more versatile space on either side for tall storage furniture or shelves.
Just a suggestion. Consider that the future is going to be green, low-cost, modular communities. So it makes sense to have them all-electric, throughout the sub-division, and with solar panels, and other certifiable, green building features. Also, please include adequate storage space. Could different modules be attached and configured to make an "L" or a "U" or an "O"?
interesting to see what will happen in the future when mobile houses become so easy to install that it comes into conflict with taxing issues (like she alluded to) similar to the problems the earth ship communities in NM came up against.
The who ideal behind the tiny house movement was to live in an affordable space, become a minimalist to gain financial freedom. That's why Skoolies and van life is popular. $3,000-$6,000 for the basic bus then roughly 10,000 more to modify it into an Rv and asking someone if you can use their land for vehicle registration and you have saved roughly $30,500. The people that need a home don't have thousands of dollars to drop on something like this or they probably would have a house already.

3 questions please: 1) Is it portable? Once it's been set up on a site, can it be folded back up to be moved again? 2) Floor plan in the vid was different than the model you toured. Which is correct? Or can you choose? I certainly don't want my bed next to the fridge. 3) Can access be made to allow for additional storage in the "attic" between the ceiling and the roof? Thanks for the vid!!
I would really love it if you guys can disassemble the product into panels but leaves the joints and connections for fast onsite assembly. Then the system will more likely be accepted by the local code reviewer (btw, R24 is not enough insulation in many northern regions now). The system will gain much more applications, for sure. I am amazed by the idea, hopefully, can use the panels someday for our projects. :)
If you want to help homeless people just volunteer at a local shelter. Most homeless people need more than a nice place to live - they're homeless due to mental issues or criminal activity.
Right. I was thinking the same thing. I’m not paying $200 to be put on a waiting list when I’m not guaranteed to actually get one. Also, with them being so tight lipped about when they’ll actually become available. It’s probably best to wait
@imaworkinprogresst00 Agree and believe that’s why you have to pay to be put on the waitlist but it seems that paying to be put on a waitlist isn’t confirmation/ guaranteed you’ll get one when it’s available. And that could be 5 years from now 😂🤣
A very cool adaptation for bath shower would be a pull up side from the floor that rolls down into the floor when you just want to shower w an option of half tubb( deeper) or full length…. Just a small technical modification;)
Wow that is so cool I could see that really taking off not only here but in third world countries and I would love to know when they release an IPO. Great video
Pray that it isn’t! I don’t want this toxic waste box shipped to my once great country. As a healthy home consultant, this is horrendous and will harm. Both people and our only planet…
What...Everything is included. Have you ever calculated the cost of building or built anything significant? You don't work for passos and neither will skilled craftsmen, supply stores and manufacturers. It kills me how people think designer handbags expensive shoes and cars are at justified cost; however nice quality housing (which is labour) is supposed to be dirt cheap. There are really cheap housing options out there to fit inexpensive budgets. The question is...are you will willing to adapt your lifestyle?
I’m wondering how thick or thin the interior walls are. For instance, in a mobile home the walls are so paper thin you can hear everything from the next rooms. This would not be ideal.
Just an idea about tiny in my area, it is allowed in our township on a rural lot for a shed(you can take the idea for shed from here)that as long as it is a temporary building that can be moved. Our shed is on a skid structure and was built off site and put in place by a skidstear that came with the truck that brought it. It is still considered a temporary structure even though I doubt much would ever move it. It is on a packed crushed concrete foundation. We bought the structure at a shed place located at Northland dr and 14 mile outside Grand Rapids .

This is super interesting. Always wanted to live in a tiny home when I grow up with either a little land or a lot after watching HGTV. Now I’m rethinking everything! Amazing watching this video and other boxabl reviews
I can’t wait for the housing revolution! So far the biggest barrier is government regulation, followed by mass production to reduce costs. I hope we can solve these problems soon so that everyone can have a place to call home. ❤️
In Atlanta you can't get land for $20,000. Avg lot development alone is $60k. This would be great for affordable housing in Atlanta but it's still not doable if you can't buy the land you need.
I think this is a great idea but I want to comment, that even though I am in a wheelchair, I would not mind a tub as long as there are handles or a seat to help me get in and out. I tried a rolled in shower, but it rusted out my wheelchair. Come to think of it, can you have a walk in tub installed? Are there other floor plans?

This was awesome Kristina!!!!! Great video!!!!
Thank you!
I thought for sure we'd be seeing this home put together and sort of a consistent non choppy Fell Swoop type of deal. I waited and waited to see the house come together and it never happened
We live in Texas and this is awesome!
Elegant and classy castia
Is this termite proof? Can these pests creep through seams, etc.?
Thanks.
This be safe in areas near the beach or the sea against rusting.
Do you give instructions with it on how and where to dig for septic tanks.
Can this be placed on piers... say 2 feet as security against flooding areas.
Great idea! Would love to be able to get a 2 bedroom for our retirement cabin.
We have not announced pricing for new models and sizes yet we will soon
Can you reverse the kitchen and bathroom. Just not sure I could sleep next to the frig
Maybe just get a partition to put there if you had to
Does he come with the Casita?
3 questions please:
1) Is it portable? Once it's been set up on a site, can it be folded back up to be moved again?
2) Floor plan in the vid was different than the model you toured. Which is correct? Or can you choose? I certainly don't want my bed next to the fridge.
3) Can access be made to allow for additional storage in the "attic" between the ceiling and the roof?
Thanks for the vid!!
I want you to have the most accurate information for your questions. The best way to get them answered is to email them at hello@boxabl.com
@@KristinaSmallhorn thanks!
1) Yes, you can folded it back up and move it
3) At the moment, we cannot customize any Boxabl. You can modify or customize after your receive.
Casita is the only available model for now
I would really love it if you guys can disassemble the product into panels but leaves the joints and connections for fast onsite assembly. Then the system will more likely be accepted by the local code reviewer (btw, R24 is not enough insulation in many northern regions now). The system will gain much more applications, for sure. I am amazed by the idea, hopefully, can use the panels someday for our projects. :)
Will they be doing any kinds of charitable projects for the Homeless and Disabled Veterans of America?! 🤔
Yes!!!
Shouldn't the government be doing that?
@@DivineS0ul they are too worried to help illegals to take care of Americans
If you want to help homeless people just volunteer at a local shelter. Most homeless people need more than a nice place to live - they're homeless due to mental issues or criminal activity.
When and where??
I have to pay $200 to get added to a waiting list that has 1000 people ahead of me??? Pay for a waiting list????
The Casita product is receiving a lot of attention, so we suggest you get your name on the waitlist ASAP.
Right. I was thinking the same thing. I’m not paying $200 to be put on a waiting list when I’m not guaranteed to actually get one. Also, with them being so tight lipped about when they’ll actually become available. It’s probably best to wait
i think in paying it will cut out as many wish-listers to the ones that actually mean business.
imaworkinprogresst00 exactly
@imaworkinprogresst00 Agree and believe that’s why you have to pay to be put on the waitlist but it seems that paying to be put on a waitlist isn’t confirmation/ guaranteed you’ll get one when it’s available. And that could be 5 years from now 😂🤣
Is there a chance for a two bedroom building and can the outward design of the exterior walls be made to say look "cottage"?
Yes. You can configure them. They will have more options in the future as well.
@@KristinaSmallhorn Ok, that's great!
Fantastic
Soon we will announce more floorplans and sizes
GREAT chemistry GREAT enthusiasm (fun origami video) ty...
A very cool adaptation for bath shower would be a pull up side from the floor that rolls down into the floor when you just want to shower w an option of half tubb( deeper) or full length…. Just a small technical modification;)
This would probably be so cool as an a frame as well...
Thank you 💞🙏🏿💞
Thank you for watching.
Such a unique idea! Love it.
Wow that is so cool I could see that really taking off not only here but in third world countries and I would love to know when they release an IPO. Great video
Thank you for watching.
They are about to release !!
Thank you for this in depth look into this house. I ran across it earlier today and you are covering questions that I had
Perfect for Vets!
I want one!
Pretty cool. I wonder if this would be allowed in many areas though? So many codes and other rules you have to follow everwhere now.
Depending where you are in Canada, as long as you have proper permits and the required hookups, it’s allowed.
Pray that it isn’t! I don’t want this toxic waste box shipped to my once great country. As a healthy home consultant, this is horrendous and will harm. Both people and our only planet…
@@mudslinger888 Can put link or make a video about why this box is harmful.
Thank you so much in advance (▰˘◡˘▰)
$50,000!!! That price needs to go down.
20 or 30K tops. Not 50K tho
Do you know how much a fully built home cost?
@@the_filthy_mcnastiest6803 you can buy a mobile home for 15K - 25K
What...Everything is included. Have you ever calculated the cost of building or built anything significant? You don't work for passos and neither will skilled craftsmen, supply stores and manufacturers. It kills me how people think designer handbags expensive shoes and cars are at justified cost; however nice quality housing (which is labour) is supposed to be dirt cheap. There are really cheap housing options out there to fit inexpensive budgets. The question is...are you will willing to adapt your lifestyle?
Nicke Smith exactly! If it’s out your price range just move on and buy that prefab from Amazon. Lol. Folks are strange
What do you need for foundation? Just a concrete slab?
Yes! and to make it handicap accessible for shower so cool..maybe a opportunity to get some homeless vets out of the elements..very cool..hurricane resistant ! Im in florida and so excited 💝💝💝those guys must have had fun shooting at it
LOL🤣
It was really fun to actually see the house itself. They are built so well I can’t wait to get one.
Brilliant idea! Just to let you know, twice in the video, start and end, the title says it's a "castia" rather than "casita".
I really want a few of these and a few to build one big 1 story 🥰
Love this.
This is super interesting. Always wanted to live in a tiny home when I grow up with either a little land or a lot after watching HGTV. Now I’m rethinking everything! Amazing watching this video and other boxabl reviews
I don’t just want a tiny home but a boxabl
If you choose to move elsewhere are these boxables moveable to a new space?
Tempirance1 yes they are.
Yes, you can unfold them
I can’t wait for the housing revolution! So far the biggest barrier is government regulation, followed by mass production to reduce costs. I hope we can solve these problems soon so that everyone can have a place to call home. ❤️
💯 agree!!
You really want to live in something that doesn’t have regulations to ensure safety standards?
@@debrapreyer Boxabl buildings conform to and exceed the requirements of any building code.
@@debrapreyer Exactly 🤷🏽♀️
@@KristinaSmallhorn 🙄 no safety regulations? Really? WTH😳
Too expensive for my area but it would probably be great for higher income areas. My house in Iowa is twice this size and cost 20,000
They could go down in price after manufacturing starts.
In Atlanta you can't get land for $20,000. Avg lot development alone is $60k. This would be great for affordable housing in Atlanta but it's still not doable if you can't buy the land you need.
I love you I'm this video!! You were do excited. I had to watch it twice and show my hubby. Also that guy was super 😍
Thanks for the information. Excellent video. Will check them out. Live in New Orleans. Just left Baton Rouge on yesterday.
If I did have a question then it’s been answered . This is a brilliant video and I love how you go that extra mile to bring this to us
Thank you 😊. You know how much work went into it.
Wow!!! That’s pretty cool!
Let’s go to the 3-d printing places by your house.
Oh my. He is beautiful. Can he please start his own channel so I can just look at him
🤔🤔🤔 Bro whatchu on?? Raise your standards.
Boxable!! Great Idea! And it's Fireproof that is so Awesome 👌
Sure is.
I'm excited about this project. I'm definitely purchasing. 😆👍

She spends so much time flirting with him, which is exactly what I would have done! Thank you!
Yeah, it hides the facts of selling a toxic waste dump box as a home…
Jealous?
She seemed fun and asked gr8 questions to me. Perception is sometimes weird...
Pretty awesome. I want one for sure
