I hate HOA. In my opinion it's a rip off and a borderline scam. My HOA just started making anybody buying a house in the community with a credit score of under 700 pay a $5,000 fee. My question is where does that money go? The only plus is they take care of our lawns and we have security with a gated entrance. Still not worth the $400 a month though IMO.

My gf and I have considered one of the home depot ones simply because we can do with we want with it insulation and wall materials wise and we can add a wall for a seperate shower and toilet room. can't do that with these SIP houses.

Even if it would have taken 1 hour to build, to me that was faaaaast!!🌟
If only it could float in the air...then I could get one for outside my apartment window😅

While I enjoy her videos, it's telling that she doesn't respond to price questions. When visiting their website, I saw that the smallest home kit you can get that allows for a kitchen is going to cost at least $68,000 just for the home itself (which is about 360sf), assuming you are OK with paying the extra ~$6500 to have a kitchen and bathroom included. Cost to build, get permits, put down a foundation (if needed), put in the plumbing and electric are All Extra. Not to mention the land itself, and the cost to put in a well, sewer, etc. if it's not already in place. Oh, and taxes. And shipping to wherever you are that might not be in Texas. This is NOT a cheap option for most people.

very interesting. I have looked at Intershelter homes (dome shaped) and they say those have at least a 20+ year life expectancy. Do you know what this manufacturer is estimating to be the useful life of these structures? I have heard of SIPs delaminating over time.

I hate when the customers are just pushing and rushing you to get stuff done, walking behind you breathing on your neck , asking you questions about everything. You know just let them do their job, stay away and let them take their time , you will get a better end result on the final product!

Septic is the big one, you're gonna run into needing a septic permit and have septic pits dug.
Pre-pandemic it costs I'd say 4000, but a septic system can now run up 8000 post-pandemic and have huge delays.
Delivery will also be delayed, having a well dug will also be delayed.
Expect it in 5+ months done.
The main thing though is drainage. Drainage, drainage, drainage, always remember that's in the initial excavation of the land.
Remember that you can run into all sorts of problems, the cost of setting it up is the cost of the rent you pay before moving in.
Also, with gas sky high, the cost of living out in the country...well, the country let's just say is a gas-centric existence. Your whole existence will rely on gasoline.
Electric cars are too much, there are electric bicycles for $3000 that can now run 200+ miles though on a single charge, and better ones coming too.
