Great vlog!! I love how you incorporate so many art projects within your curriculum! As a K-5 Art teacher, I appreciate your love for art and creativity-one of the things I enjoy about your content is that it provides me with art project ideas I can do with my students to extend what their learning with their classroom teachers. Thank you for sharing!!

I'm so glad you enjoy it! I love finding creative approaches to curriculum instruction. With school having so much higher academic stress and expectations it's so important to infuse fun where I can!

Do you have an ELA curriculum; an anthology of stores, etc? Or are your read aloud show you teach comprehension? I’m a veteran second grade teacher ( 15 years) and am inspired by your content!

Thank you for being here! We have a curriculum but are allowed to incorporate our own things, as long as the content is being covered. I've found several interactive read aloud bundles that cover the same reading topics which I find the students and I enjoy more than the curriculum stories. The read-alouds all have vocabulary, comprehension and reading activities that go along with the books. I've built up my library a lot over the last 3 years!

Maybe you already have it, but if not The Juice Box Bully is a wonderful story as a follow up to Spaghetti in a Hot Dog bun. It shows how Ralph grows as a character. 😊

Great video! I love how you incorporate the art projects to engage the students! It seems that you have 23/24 students. How is it that you only have 2 reading groups and 3 math groups! Just curious! I wish I could get my class of 21 down like that but I have 5 groups so groups aren’t too big and because of the range of abilities.

Great question, I should touch on this more in the next vlog! We "flex" for reading groups between 4 teachers with a total of 70 students in 2nd grade. I have an Orton-Gillingham phonics certification so I only have 11 of the "lowest" 2nd graders in the school who are all reading at a kindergarten level. This helps me cater my instruction for 2 reading groups while the other 3 teachers have more students and more groups. For math, I teach our 2nd-grade content whole group for the first 15 minutes and then pull groups of 7-8 for smaller group instruction for re-teach, intervention or extension.

For your Group 1 reader and Group 2 reader… are those groups that you meet with in particular to read with? In my classroom I have like 5 different groups.
