It's so great that you realized you needed to make some changes and went for it! Having colleagues that help out is so important. Having a strong support system at school is a game-changer! The first few weeks definitely take so much effort. You're taking the time to teach them structure and it looks like you're off to a great start!

Our lunch is 12:05-12:45 and prep towards the end of the day too! I watched some of your old videos last year when I was student teaching (no clue what grade I was going to teach) and flash forward to now I’m a first year 2ND grade teacher too, you’re back uploading and I’ve already taken so many notes for what I can try with the students!! Thank you for helping a girl out!! ❤️

I use finished work as a ticket to free choice. and I have free choice all week. They can't participate in free choice whenever I have it if they haven't finished their work.
Great video. Your room looks great. Amazing strategies you are using.Please continue making videos. I retired June 30, 2019 from teaching grades 1,2 & 3 for 41 years. Most of my career was in second grade. I miss certain things the kids for sure and doing bulletin boards and making Power Points for class. You are doing a great job, keep being positive. You will have good and bad days. There are more good then bad. Thanks for sharing!
Loved seeing your week! When you make your daily slides do you make a file for each day? Or for the week? Trying to figure out the best way to organize mine!
I make a weekly slide deck so all of the days are in one! It’s really nice to be able to easily move/arrange slides if I don’t get to something and it’s nice to be able to easily copy & paste to review the next day!
Oh my gosh…our afternoon is from 11:55-3:45. It is incredibly lllooonngggg! Thank goodness we do have a 20 minute recess and a 40 minute prep at the very end of the day.
I teach K, so this is our schedule; arrival 7:40, recess 9:10, lunch 10:00 (30 min), dismissal 12:40

Our afternoon starts at 12.15 - 12.45h with recess. Lunch is from 12.45 -13.00h. Then we have 1.30h untill dismissal at 14.30h. I teach a grade 1&2 combo.

We have the longest afternoon this year. We end lunch at 11:45 and are in the rooms until dismissal at 2:50

Thanks so much for being here! We’ve made it a quick little part of our day, just 15 minutes wherever we can fit it. We only do 2 letters for handwriting boot camp and then I try to reinforce it all day whenever we write!
I reach 2nd grade as well. We eat lunch at 12:00 but our afternoon is from 12:35 to 3:35. It is sooooooo looooonnnngggg!

Yes, the afternoon is super long. I teach kinder and we have lunch from 11-11:40. Then we go from 11:40 till 2:28 😅, almost 3 hours. It’s a pretty long afternoon.

I have the exact afternoon! It is very long, we have a recess in that time. Still long, getting use to it. BTW, also second grade.
We might need to start sneaking in some bonus recess too because its a crawl every afternoon!
My day is long only on Wednesday (no specials )but my lunch is late 12:30 . I am departmentalize only teach Reading and Writing . But wow !!!!
