I’m retired after 31 years. I taught in 3 schools, including on Guam. I taught in 6 different classrooms. Why do I watch teacher RUclips’s? I loved my career and I can kinda experience the teacher life through the teachers I follow. Love your channel… have a wonderful summer and a great school year! ❤🙏
I've had six different classrooms...kinder classroom was my fave as it was huge and had a bathroom but then I went to first grade and liked that age group much better :) My sister-in-law just retired and she had the SAME 4th grade classroom for 20 YEARS! That is very rare these days.
6 years, 6 classrooms in the same school! They love moving us around. I’m moving again this year too, so 7th year of moving. Looking forward to seeing your new classroom.
I worked in two school districts in the IT department and loved my time with the staff and students. Love how you are organizing your classroom. Teachers are heroes in my book and need pay raises.
Thank you for mentioning that specialists need some supplies too! 😃I am an elementary music teacher and my classroom teachers are awesome about sharing and I am so grateful! Good luck with the rest of setup!
I'm a Swedish🇸🇪 elementary teacher. I'll be at a new school teaching first grade this year. So excited and can't wait to get started. It will be my 5th classroom (been teaching 6 years). Happy summer 🌞
I’ve been in the same room my entire time. I’m entering my 8th year. I love how excited you get during set ups! It makes me happy to see that other veteran teachers get excited like me!
I love that you’re already making set up videos. At the end of the year, my mind goes straight to what I’ll be doing next year. I work at a private Catholic school with one class per grade so I’m super lucky to never have to move classrooms unless I change grades which is always a conversation with admin beforehand. This will be my fourth year in the same room. The downside is that I’m not forced to go through all of my things every summer so my closets need a good declutter.
I had 6 classrooms in 12 years when I was teaching. As an administrator, I worked in 3 different schools and moved offices 5 times. I’ve been tutoring (Orton-Gillingham) since 2020. I’m retiring, and will volunteer in my daughter’s class next year. I have sooo many things to figure out how to share, and some things I want to keep just in case, or as reference (books). I love watching your videos! ❤ Once a teacher, always a teacher!
I am in my 31st year of teaching. I have been in 3 different schools and 10 different classrooms. This year is a room change for me and I am sort of excited for a fresh start! I’m always looking for new ideas. I have about 4 years before I retire.
Last year I was a specials teacher and if your specials teachers are anything like I was, anything is appreciated!! One teacher gave me her surplus of "cheap" crayons and that was gold for me! Lol. This year I will be a SPED Autism Teacher (my dream job!!) and I am looking forward to getting into my classroom for setup!
It's odd watching set up videos when I still have 5 weeks of teachng left before the UK Summer Holidays! lol! Still, lots of ideas for me to ponder for my new room! I've been at my current school for 12 years, moved age groups 6 times and rooms 9!
I spent a good chunk of my childhood in England, attending my nearby state-run secondary school (and I also did some of my student teaching in a primary school in England). I so badly miss the UK school calendar and far prefer it to my American school calendar.
I worked in 5 different classroom. I went from Autism unit to Preschool and two different school, but the same district. I’m retired now and I have to watch teachers working in their classroom to get my fix. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve only been in 3 different classrooms during the 22 years I’ve been at my school. I’m surprised you can already start setting up your room though. In my district we can’t get back into our classroom until the custodians do their deep clean of every room, even paint certain classrooms. We have to pack everything up before we leave for summer and don’t get back in until usually two weeks before we have to officially return.
That's amazing! Not too many moves! I am very fortunate that my building is not being used for summer programs and they have not started tile waxing yet! Once they do it'll be harder to get time in
I taught for 7 years, in 6 different classrooms. I took an 11 year hiatus from the classroom and will now be going back in for next school. I'm anxious as much has changed over the past 11 years.
I’m heading into my second year of teaching and my second classroom. I’m jealous of all the storage you have in your room. I do get a closet this year with two cabinets, but that’s about it.
I definitely feel like the outsider here but next year is my 10th year teaching and I’m in the same classroom I started teaching in! In those years I have taught K, a K/1 combo, 1st grade and back to K but never had to move classrooms. I still definitely put in hours of work each summer reorganizing cupboards but I have had my classroom set up in pretty much the same layout for the last 5 years. Excited to see all your classroom set up videos!
I am going into my 4th year of teaching and I am moving into my 3rd classroom! So I’ve only been in the same classroom for 2 years😂 I am impressed that you are already setting up your room!
Wow!! good lucking moving rooms Caroline! Yes, I am very fortunate that my building is not being used for summer programs and they have not started tile waxing yet! Once they do it'll be harder to get time in
I love how you and your teammate have that shared office space in between your rooms. Our rooms at my school are pretty small, but something like this would be so fun!
9 classes in 20 years! Lots of moving and learning for me. I still learn so much and need to see other ideas. You’re so positive and fun. I appreciate your honesty tone and work ethic!
Many more than I can count! I taught in 3rd grade 2 states 2 class rooms, 1st grade 2 districts5 years, 5th grade 1 year, now teaching 2nd year preschool. I may be changing my class room this year and won’t know until school is almost starting. Yikes but it’s all good. I do like moving and getting new stuff.
20 years in the same room 1st grade then 2nd. But this year moved rooms to teach 3rd. The cute decor is not my thing, but I need ideas for organizing instructional supplies and curriculum displays. I love back to school, it's a major holiday!
Thanks for thinking of the specialists when you have an excess of supplies! I'm a librarian and we don't get supplies since we don't supply lists. The tissues the district buys are like sandpaper! It's so nice getting some good tissues for students to use while they are in the library.
Crazy you are setting up your classroom already. In New Jersey we still have 4 days of last school year left! I literally took a bunch of stuff out of my classroom yesterday.
I've been teaching for 17 years (15 yrs. of 2nd Grade and 2 yrs. of 3rd Grade) at the same school. I've taught in 3 different classrooms and have been in my current one for the past 4 years. My favorite thing is that it has a bathroom that we don't have to share. :)
I have been teaching for 4 1/2 years. The first two years I was mobile and brought my stuff in each day. I taught a combined 1st and 2nd grade class each year. For the next 1/2 year, I taught 2nd grade in a permanent classroom. Two years ago, I moved schools and taught 4th grade. This coming year, I’m moving back down to 2nd grade and a new classroom. So not counting being mobile, I’ve had 3 classrooms in the last 3 1/2 years.
I have taught middle school English for 21 years, and I have moved four times. Thanks so much for sharing your set up video with us! I think it will provide some motivation for me to at least start thinking about setting up my own classroom for next year!😂😂
10 years and 3 classrooms. Same one for 8 years, then moved to SoFlo. Small room for half the first year and then I took over for a leaving teacher so switched rooms along woth switching students. LOVE my room. Old science room so a ton of storage.
16 years, 4 schools, 3 districts, 10 classrooms, and going to a new classroom next year! Moving is a pain, but I do love the excitement of setting up a new room and the feeling of new beginnings, so it's not all bad. Going back to the classroom (2nd grade) after 9 years teaching ESL, and it'll be nice to be back in a room I can call my own again. :)
I’ve been teaching for 18 years!! Crazy to say that. I’ve been in the same room for the last 11, 12 counting this upcoming year. My first 5 years were all different rooms.
Katie I admire your energy, I moved to a new school 2 years ago and had to move rooms 3x….. our new principal this year promised we wouldn’t move once she had us in our new rooms… I’m too tired from packing up to unpack so close to the school year… I will say I’ve been putting together my Amazon wishlist and doing VBS at my church…. Trying to thaw out from the year Even if we were allowed to go into our rooms this early I don’t think I would have the energy 😅 I feel you with the wipes…. I’m in a Title 1 school and we go through wipes like crazy… was thinking HOWEVER of getting a spray bottle putting a few drops of bleach and much water, and getting a rag… I think this will last me rather than keep begging for wipes…. Will work like wipes….
YES - enjoy your summer and no pressure to start school things until you are ready 😊 Great idea to use a cleaner instead of wipes, would definitely last longer!
Is special area teacher music, art ? I found this channel last year when I was looking up back to school videos. What are good supplies for specials? My oldest is going into 3rd and my middle child kindergarten. We always try to pick up extra supplies.
I’m finishing packing up my classroom after my 10th year of teaching, which ended this past Wednesday (we have a holiday on Monday, so no clean up, and then one more workday on Tuesday and must be finished by 4pm). I’ve been in three grades and four classrooms (including an “interesting” year and a half out in the trailers with 8-year-olds- 💯 do not recommend third grade in trailers!). I’m helping one of my best teacher friends move classrooms also, but thankfully we’ll still be together in fourth grade (she’s taught for I think 14 years and, if I remember correctly, her next classroom will be her 7th classroom).
I just finished my 9th year teaching and I’ve had 6 classrooms. Our school actually caught on fire, so we’ve been moving buildings A TON and we’ve finally settled into our newly remodeled school last year! So nice to stay in the same school/room for once!
As the librarian I didn’t move physical space unless I changed schools. Now rearranging the library to new floor plan or renovations, that I have done multiple times. Only moved one library to a new location (unfortunately, we were doing major home renovations the same summer). I would say at least 10 times.
This upcoming year will be my 8th year. I have taught in 2 classrooms. I went from my original classroom to a different classroom in another hallway then back to my original classroom. 3 years in Kindergarten and this will be my 5th year in 1st.
This year will be my 6th room in 26 years of teaching. I’m also very excited as I’m also changing grade levels…1st grade to 4th grade. Math only too btw. Different but ready for a change!
This is my 7th classroom. I have taught in 4 different districts and I've done many roles throughout those districts. Now I'm in kindergarten and here I want to stay. I'm in a district that has a very low teacher turn over and there is a teacher who is on her 16th year in the same room. That always blows my mind! I think I move around schools and roles because I get bored, but now I'm a mom and don't have the time to change roles. I need my summer to be 100% mom.
I just finished year 7 and I have taught in 8 classrooms at 2 different schools. (I had 3 classrooms in one year because of COVID procedures where students stayed put and teachers had to rotate.) I'm going to a new school next year and will have my 9th grade classroom. Hopefully, I'll be settled there for a while.
I love classroom setup!! So happy to see yours. ☺️ I have been teaching for 30 years and I have had only 4 different classrooms, which is a blessing! Can’t wait to see the rest of your setup. Love the disco ball border at Hobby Lobby btw. ♥️
I'm going into year 9! I've taught high school in 2 different rooms. I'm a middle school teacher now and I'm going into my second room here. I was previously a 7 + 8th grade ELA teacher and now I will be a 6th grade teacher!
2 rooms! I’ve had the same classroom for the past 2 years but my position got cut so I had to find a new job. I haven’t seen my new room yet, but I’ll be teaching kindergarten (after 2 years of first) so I’m really looking forward to setting it up!!
I taught for 30 years in two neighboring districts, plus Pre-K and Special Ed. I moved buildings in my last district three times and classrooms thirteen times.
This is year 3 (and 1/2) for me. I started in a pod setting for my first classroom, they moved me mid-year for construction, then moved me back into that classroom following school year. Now I moved to Florida. So technically 4 but really 3 🤣🤣
In my 9 years of teaching, I taught at 3 schools and 9 classrooms. In my first year of teaching I had to move classrooms mid-year due to construction. And for 4 years, I taught in 2 separate classrooms because my math classes were taught in my main classroom and my yearbook classes were held in a computer lab. I think the longest I've ever stayed in one classroom is 2 years. Next year, I'll be a traveling teacher across 2 classrooms again 😅
Ive taught for 4 years and I’ve been in a different room every year! The first year was a school I was only at for that one year. Years 2 and 3 were both 3rd grade ELA but they adjusted where in the hallway 3rd and 4th were. Last year I moved to 2nd so that was a new hallway. This year I’m moving to another part of GA teaching 3rd all subjects, so year 5 and room 5! Hopefully I can stay put now! 😂
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary it’s definitely a lot having to completely start over every year, but all but one move was by choice 😂 watching your videos has me so excited to get into my new classroom! It actually has lots of built in storage for once! 💖
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary no, we start on the sofa for Bible, history and read aloud then we move to the table for independent subjects (reading, math, language arts and science). I have 7 children so my older kids start at the table while I am on the sofa with my younger ones. Then we switch places.
Wow. Sooo much storage. My classroom has only door under sink. Two open shelves under counter. Three open shelves above. Three bookcases, and three more short open shelves. No closet. No bathroom. Also, I purchase almost all my own wipes, tissues, and extra snacks. You are a lucky teacher. Enjoy your fresh space.
When I taught, I only moved 2 classrooms. I taught 1st grade my first year. Then, I switched to 5th grade in my 2nd year. I never switched grades or classrooms after that. I taught 10 years and quit in 2021.
I just finished my 14th year yesterday. I’ve taught in four schools and five rooms. I am 80% sure I’ll be in the same room/ grade next year. I like my current room. I have very little storage.
Twenty year veteran here…taught at 9 schools and until this year I have moved every year….3 of those years I moved twice in a school year. It never gets easier or boring😂😂😂
I love your channel! I’m considering becoming an elementary school teacher. I am a little scared though because I do have a physical disability and a service dog. I also live in Florida.
I have moved 8 times! 5 classrooms at my first school over 13 years. 2 classrooms & summer storage at my second school: 7 years. 1 classroom at my current school!
I taught 2nd grade for 6 years in my first classroom, then taught Kindergarten in a different room for 1 and 3/4 years (COVID shutdown second year), and this will be by 5th year to teach 1st grade in my third classroom, all in the same building, same school.
I’ve taught in 10 classrooms over my 32 years of teaching. I’m currently moving into a new classroom to accommodate some new building configuration. But I can’t get in there yet because it’s getting new carpeting, the old one was horrible! Hoping to get in soon because I teach summer jump in three weeks. 😩
My first two years of teaching, I was working in a year round school that was on a track system. Every 9 weeks we had to move out of our room and pack our things in 2 rolling cabinets so the teacher coming off break could move in. So in two years I set up 8 times. But I am now in my 29th year of teaching and I’ve moved rooms 22, going on 23 times. 😅 I am kinda good at it now.
I was a paraprofessional for about 3 1/2 years at three different district now two different schools and one district. Last year was my first official year as a special education teacher at a different district(my third one) this coming year I will be moving classrooms so has a teacher I’m already doing two classrooms but I will be sharing this classroom this coming year.
I have been teaching for 5 years and I have taught at two different schools. Within the first two years of teaching, I moved between 5 different rooms. Once I moved schools, I have been in the same room since then. So sicks rooms total.
In my fist school, I had 1 classroom, then the next school: 3 classrooms in 5 years. In my current school, I've moved 4 times in 5 years. They have promised I get to stay in a room this year (but I will trust it when I actually get the key back...) Also who doesn't love classroom setup?!?
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary i got moved to different grade leveld after the start if the year twice!! It almost happended a third time but someone stood up for me!
I've been teaching 25 years. 21 in my current building. I'm moving my 15th time in this building. I teach middle school special education. The only plus is that I get air conditioning in a building that is not. I guess it allows me to really sort and get rid of crap each year.
Been teaching for 16 years for two districts and have worked in 5 different classrooms. In July I will have to move back into my old classroom since we were moved out this past school year so they could do work in the other building. 😂
I'm going into year 7, 2 classrooms however this upcoming school year, our whole school is being housed at a different school because our building is being renovated. We only have 2 grades so it's not a lot of us moving but it's a lot of things that had to be moved
6 classrooms in 9 years… probably adding a 7th classroom to the list this year! It sounds crazy and exhausting, but I don’t mind and I love setting up my new space and seeing my kiddos’ faces on the first day!
im so excited for you!! classroom set up is my FAVE thing to do so I am looking forward to when I get to do that in August. I will be starting my 6 years! I am excited for your future videos on departmentalize!
This is my 7th year in a classroom. The first 2 years I was a special education assistant, then I taught 6th grade social studies for one year, then Pre-K which is where I'm at now. I have had a new classroom, not even kidding, EVERY SINGLE YEAR. The past 3 years, however, are because we moved buildings, then had to move again, and now we are moving back in our original building. But I am TIRED.
I moved 3x my first year as there was a growth year my newesr school. I moved two years later from 4/5 to 2/3.(ELA and science) This year self contained 3rd
I’m retired after 31 years. I taught in 3 schools, including on Guam. I taught in 6 different classrooms. Why do I watch teacher RUclips’s? Ugh. How awful. My admin tries to only move us when absolutely necessary. It’s a whole different kind of room pack up when you move. Not fun. 👎

Glad you and your bestie are sticking together!! 😊
I cannot imagine moving or rearranging a whole library!!
This upcoming year will be my 8th year. I have taught in 2 classrooms. I went from my original classroom to a different classroom in another hallway then back to my original classroom. 3 years in Kindergarten and this will be my 5th year in 1st.
I love first grade!! Good luck!
This gets me sooo excited to set up my first classroom this year! Teaching 3rd grade in GA. Also, I’m from Prosper, TX too!
I have also been in 4 classrooms, but with very different set ups! Going into my 9th year teaching. 😎
It's always a challenge when the room layouts are so different!
I'll also be going into my 7th year. I've taught in 3 different schools. I've moved rooms 5 different times. Lol.
So. Much. Moving. 🤪
I love classroom setup!! So happy to see yours. ☺️ I have been teaching for 30 years and I have had only 4 different classrooms, which is a blessing! Can’t wait to see the rest of your setup. Love the disco ball border at Hobby Lobby btw. ♥️
I am still on the hunt for that border haha 🪩
Thank you for watching as always 😊
Just finished my 3rd year of teaching and I have taught in 3 different rooms and 3 grade levels!😭
I am SO happy to be staying where I am this year. ❤️
Yay good for you!! What grade?
Our entire building is moving rooms too!! Taking your advice to get an early start too!
Wow that's a lot of moving!! Best of luck!
I cannot even begin to explain how excited I was when I saw this upload 🤩
Awww thanks Emma!! I was filled with so much anticipation to share it 😊
Thank you for thinking of the specialist!
Of course!! 😊
Dang! That's a lot!! But yay, third grade buddies! 😊
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary it’s definitely a lot having to completely start over every year, but all but one move was by choice 😂 watching your videos has me so excited to get into my new classroom! It actually has lots of built in storage for once! 💖
I taught for 10 years at the same school in 3 different classrooms. I just finished my 10th year homeschooling.
Do you have a designated space in your home for homeschooling? 😊
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary no, we start on the sofa for Bible, history and read aloud then we move to the table for independent subjects (reading, math, language arts and science). I have 7 children so my older kids start at the table while I am on the sofa with my younger ones. Then we switch places.
This makes me really excited to go back to work!
Glad you didn't have to move too much!
I just finished my 14th year of teaching and I have taught in 5 different classrooms, all in the same school building!
Year 25 this year....2 classrooms total. I spent my first two years right down the hall from my current room where I have been for 23 years now.
I will start year 6 in August. I've been in 3 schools and 4 classrooms. Staying in the same room and school for the third year in a row!
I am starting my 15th year teaching and I will be going into my 6th classroom.... that will be my 5th classroom move in my current school! 😂
Best of luck!!
I just finished my 14th year yesterday. I’ve taught in four schools and five rooms. I am 80% sure I’ll be in the same room/ grade next year. I like my current room. I have very little storage.
Woohoo! Hope you get to stay!
I’m gonna be an 8th grader this year I’m excited
Twenty year veteran here…taught at 9 schools and until this year I have moved every year….3 of those years I moved twice in a school year. It never gets easier or boring😂😂😂
I love your channel! I’m considering becoming an elementary school teacher. I am a little scared though because I do have a physical disability and a service dog. I also live in Florida.
So here in Oklahoma Elementary teachers teach every subject in their classroom!
I’ll be starting year 40 in August at the same school and I’ve had 2 classrooms.
That's incredible!!
I literally just got out this week. Why am I already watching these? lol
They are so fun to watch hahaha 😉
I love classroom set ups over summer bc it gives something to watch. 😁
Oh my! I have never heard of that before!
Going into my 9th year, I’ve been in 6 classrooms! It’s exhausting! Never been in a room more than two years in a row.
That is a lot of moving!!
I have worked in 13 different classrooms and that may sound like a lot but my school has around 82 classrooms
Year 5 and I have been in the same classroom the whole time. :)
Just finished year 21 and 15 rooms in 9 schools and 1 year at home! I had 9 classrooms in my second school even though i was only there for 7 years😂
9 classrooms in 7 years? I need to hear this story.. how?? 😂
Oooh so it'll be new and improved hopefully? 😊
I’m so tickled to see you listening to t swift cause you remind me SO much of her and I was literally coming to the comments to say that lol
Haha awww thanks!
I have been teaching 27 years. 🇬🇧 I have taught in 2 schools, in 9 different classrooms, although I have been in my current room for 15 years!!
Wow!! Glad you haven’t had to move in so long!
I'm going into year 7, 2 classrooms however this upcoming school year, our whole school is being housed at a different school because our building is being renovated. We only have 2 grades so it's not a lot of us moving but it's a lot of things that had to be moved
I’ve been in four different classrooms as well. Thankfully I’m not moving rooms this year. 🎉
Woohoo! That's so nice!
I love a good classroom set up too! Thanks for watching 😊
But I am TIRED.
going into 3 and 1/2 years of teaching and I am going to be in my 4th classroom hahah!
I moved 3x my first year as there was a growth year my newesr school. I moved two years later from 4/5 to 2/3.(ELA and science) This year self contained 3rd
