Been into DCA many times, they hit the brakes and reversers HARD once you touch down. No room to run out at the end of the runway on #1!! Great Video JP!!
I've flown that approach a gazillion times. We...and the tower...if they knew you...used to call it "The Anacostia Approach" because upon heading south from BWI to DCA you head down the Anacostia River and make, in essence, a U-Turn at the Oxxon Hill beacon south of the airport.
00:37 Potomac River (Puh tow mick). Trust me, I've been in D.C. since 1971. Cheers.
Yeah, that was annoying. I'm glad someone else noticed.
This guy is perfect for these videos.

Nice Video....but for the record, Washington's river is pronounced pa TOW mik. "(I'm not a tourist, I live here!") LOL
Lovely videos with a proper explanation.

I hope you get a chance to fly into DCA from the other direction as well.
Awesome!!!
nice! have 1 question does Boston use to have so much 747s and airlines or it was just a stopover? love your videos!!!!:)
What's the name of that river again, eh?
Scott Major Potomac River
Potomac :)
Got a little excited for a moment, I thought you were in AF1, good clickbait.
Wow, what a greaser!
0:57 is his hand shaking ??
why was he shaking so much holding the airport chart?
That was the stick shaking during some turbulence...
DCA has the best approach views, RWY 19 is the better one. How come the pilots still have paper charts?
in case of computermeltdown maybe.. or they made it just for this video to show us..
Those piloting sticks like bycycle :-)
