I love this so much, i can relate. when my pops got sick I moved back to Massachusetts and would drive my dad to tufts in Boston and spend time with him in the hospital and watch the rocky movie on repeat and watch the patriots play. He was terminally ill, but now he is kicking ass and doing better than ever!!! God is good!
I think about a world where I won't ever say or hear another word from my parents and it makes me cry everytime, we who still have our parents should always keep in mind how delicate they are, and hold the gravity of that special bond in our minds whenever we are with them, so we can withstand those disagreements which push us apart and instead revel in a love greater than our egos.
Again its the idea of being lucky, and having parents who don't put their egos above everything, and themselves above the lives of their loved ones and family, and kids that they themselves brought into the world only to devolve into a narcissist and make it terrible for them. If you have good parents, please for gods sake spend the time you can with them, and try to work through this disagreements, either for your sake, theirs, or the people who don't have parents or have abusive ones.
The 26th of this month will make it 7 years since my dad passed. Appreciate your parents.

I just can’t imagine the closeness that the both of you are speaking to. It paints a picture that’s more than half missing in my own life. When I hear similar stories I’m struck that it seems old fashioned or from another time. I can’t imagine what I missed and is simply missing.

Good, bad or indifferent .. .we are who we are because of our dads. I hope Matt realizes how lucky he was to have that time with his dad. That was a blessing.
I loved watching the texas rangers with my dad. He could tell you their roster from when they came from kansas city to present date. He kept up with pitching rotation and pitching prospects. I really enjoyed our baseball talks. He remained sharp on the subject even when he was losing his memory on other subjects.

Bet your dads talking about the days his son and him, watched ballgames there.
They'll be there watching us and our kids cheer on the sox and think of them.

Omg the first time I saw this interview series (had nothing to do with a Boston guest) I thought 'Wow he looks like Jason Varitek.' Also, say hello to your relative Derek and thank him for his contributions with Tek and the 2004 championship. Hehe, couldn't resist, the lame joke was just sitting there waiting to be said.
@@cantrip19 Derek's not a relative and even if he was I'd probably still tell this story. Back around 2006 or so I was on a message board that discovered a swingers/singles website where MLB players and a handful of other pro athletes would post when they were going to be in a given city and what place they'd be staying so that women, escorts and otherwise, would shower them with photos and also exchange their own stories about hooking up with athletes. None of it was private (I mean it all was very private but not in an internet 'need a password' sense) and anyone could create an account, there were permiscuous photos with players and everyone would have been able to read what the others were up to and still talk to the same, um, interested parties. According to the stories told, D Lowe was one of the most prolific (don't know if he was married or not). We all created catfish accounts to have fun with them and it ended up dying down after that, but it was a pretty funny insight into the road life of a pro athlete, practically Roman in its shamelessness. So now you know this anecdote now too.
I never had a good father and I feel stupid for saying that because maybe he'll hate me for thinking that and all he did was yell at me and he was always working and maybe I was just a bad kid and omg I'm so confused
Not everyone gets as lucky as Matt did to have a good father. My advise to you is this. #1) don't blame yourself for your fathers mistakes. #2) Learn from it. When/if you have kids, be better than what you had.
