These guys are amazing, I can't believe they didn't hit it big in the US. Their singles are catchy as hell. I just wish I'd discovered them 30 years ago.
Building a Bridge is a Mike & the Mechanics rip-off with an abysmal music video. I love it for how bad it is. No...the song that should've shot them to superstardom was Shadows of Love, honestly. Their work IS really good...once you're selective about what gets promoted.
They should have used this song I an 80s action film. The hero could have slow motioned turned around taking 4 minutes to face his foe whilst this song played and then when the song ends he blows the bad guy away. Woulda been perfect!
Another great little pop combo from the 80s. Amazing decade. Bridge to her heart and American English were the singles the 2 hits I remember but probably a lot of people forgot or never even knew of this group's existence in the first place. I got this on cassette then CD from memory.
Wax "American English" American English (1987) Director : Storm Thorgerson (1944 - 2013) (Rest In Peace) ❤ Wax : duo - Andrew Gold (1951 - 2011) (Rest In Peace) ❤ - Graham Gouldman
To this day, I still can't understand why this didn't make the Top 100 on both sides of the Atlantic. It's catchy enough. I remember first seeing this video as an exclusive on Channel 4's The Chart Show over here in the UK, and it certainly gained a lot of airplay with Radio 1 and alike. Oh well.

@@andrewpollock4599 I believe you. I was just referring to the last names' spellings. I am a big fan of anything to do with Andrew and Graham and have a bunch of related records and CDs. Congratulations you saw those concerts. Yes, Rest In Peace Andrew Gold. Let's keep him in our thoughts and, to paraphrase, "never let him slip away." (Get it?) P.S: I just checked your subscriptions. I love Italo Disco and Robert Palmer's music, too. (Another Rest In Peace...the ciggies ended my dad, too, even though he quit before I was born.)
i feel the music video doesn't match the hype of the song itself. dad used to be an aerobics instructor, and when this song came up on his playlist cds, it was always one of the most movement intensive 3 minutes he had on occasion, and the closest i've been able to replicate the feeling of watching him and the others following his lead is by watching the opening part of this ruclips.net/video/TIfAkOBMf5A/видео.html on mute while this song plays
1985-1988 WAX, short time but excellent songs of those guys, RIP Andrew, god bless you Graham.
Great song!!! Long live the 80s!
top song.. and under-rated song writers!
One of those great pop albums from the 80s. ❤

I never understood why this wasn’t a hit. Of its time and in the back of ‘Building a Bridge...’

Bit of trivia folks - Graham Gouldman wrote "No Milk Today", for Herman's Hermits

Here comes my one and only
Talking like a starlet on a Hollywood screen

I hear the words but I don't know what she means
Oh, she speaks American English

Hey!
Come on, yeah
Come on, yeah, woo
We don't need words
To express what is real
We've got each other
That says everything that we feel
There's too much damn confusion
With all this talking going round and round
We'll reach our own conclusion
We'll make connection on the common ground
I said
Oh, she speaks American English
Oh, don't always understand
Though she speaks American English
Got the language of love at her command
Oh, she speaks American English
Oh, don't always understand
Though she speaks American English
Got the language of love at her command

Absolutely love Wax. Not one of my faves by them. I like the middle eight.
That mono sound is killing me.
Hey! I know this guy from 10cc !
You can't fault the music from the 80s, just wish we had this music still now instead of the inane crud of now !!
Woah wrong video to watch with a sinus headache!!
is this song really from as late as 96?
1996 was the year that Sony Music remastered this single. However, the videoclip has been licensed by Vevo for exibition on this channel only in 2015!
It is an 80s track
It is the title track of their second album released in 1987
1/5/2023,1st time.
IS this Andrew Gould and Tim Curry?
Funny!

I will cheerfully admit that I am an absolute sucker for a cute catchy pop song. Case closed.

Песня конечно крутая, но "Клюквенный" и стереотипный (В глазах запада тех лет) вид советской женщины, конечно удручает.
