  • Paolo Banchero has had a stellar start to his career for the Orlando Magic, winning Rookie of the Year, making an all-star appearance in his second season and earning some comparisons to LeBron James himself. But at this very moment, just how good is Paolo? How does his situation contribute to his issues and how much can he improve? Let's find out.

I’ve seen him play irl, bro he’s so good and knows what he’s doing on the court, and he’s so fun to watch

Magic fan, and you absolutely nailed this man. Feel it might have been pertinent to acknowledge the absurd amount of double teams he faces at his young age (he's like 6th or 7th in the league as a ballhandler IIRC), which leads to a lot of poor snap decisions and removes what little finesse he does have around the basket (he's still not confident enough to take it strong every time). Teams know they can blitz him and severely reduce his chance of a good play - if he was on a team with someone like Mitchell or Brunson, I think you'd see his numbers and efficiency go way up

  • @stevenwhiters8928

He’s way better than numbers suggest. He has to work so hard to score because team has worst spacing in the world. He has to operate on pick n rolls 30 feet away too often. He should be operating as a Screener and at elbows more

@@willrobbins2550 yeah guys like you just don’t understand hoops at a high level. It’s a rythym situation based game. Bigger guys should start operating closer to basket whether they shoot or not. All that dribbling takes legs out your shot.

Guy is really good.. if he was playing for lakers, everyone would look at him different. He's a work horse.. he does a lot more than just scoring points. He's the reason magic players seem better, he's the reason why magic goes into the playoffs and I think it could be really good for him that he's not constantly pressed by the media.

The fact that the magic wasn't even in the play-in tournament last year , to potentially have the Chace to have 2nd or 3rd seed this year is beyond expectations ! This proves that the magic are a team that will not be slept on anymore ! The media doesn't even want to acknowledge or even speak on the magic or Paolo ! He's the next face of the NBA . It's just now the cold water is being splashed on everyone's face to wake up 😅 LETS GO MAGIC !! 💪

This is an extremely fair analysis on Paolo. As a magic fan, Thank you for sharing the numbers WITH context. The discourse around him is so horrid bc people don’t care to watch games or look more into WHY the numbers are like that.

The LeBron thing is definitely real. He's kinda a bigger LeBron with all the right skillsets but not as refined or explosive as LeBron was. Still, considering his age, this is super promising.

I'd love to hear your take on Franz. His 3 point shot disappearing is fascinating to me

Magic fan here. Your assessment is fair and remarkably accurate. Our team needs improvement in the backcourt, especially 3 point shooting as we have so many big bodies attacking the rim against defenses that clog the paint. We win because of our defense and our second unit, so experts underestimate us. Paolo is a great cornerstone to build on.

It's easy to be excited about a player when you're a fan of the team (which I am). But we have to understand Paolo's present limitations.
Really nice, balanced analysis. Best video I've seen on the topic!

Paolo playing like peak Randle at 21 and the scary thing is he's playing with players that can't shoot, if the Magic can turn Fultz, WCJ and Gary to player like Kyrie and Klay while keeping Wagner bros, Suggs and Caleb they can dominate the east, if Celtics and Bucks become bust this year east will going to be wide open unless Jimmy still can do his thing for the next 3 years.

Magic were really good last year, they just started off 5-20 due to injuries they were dealing with after that tho they went 29-28 so hovering around .500 also last year Paolo had that month of February where he shot 9% from the 3

  • @brooksorlando4510

I was thinking about this...Paolo and Franz might be best duo in NBA under 25. Depends if you're including SGA because he's 25 exactly. Paolo is only 21 and Franz is 22. In most cases around NBA, it's 1 young star and 1 guy close to 30...ex. 76ers, T Wolves, Mavs, etc. Imo Wemby is best young player overall, but he doesn't have that second guy. Paolo made all star team barely 21. He's legit. Franz is on the cusp and he's 22. They aren't even close to their primes and they just lead a team to a top 5 seed. They're also so young that Magic won't have to pay them anytime soon. They have a bright future
