It's simply incredible. Paolo Banchero averaged 20 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game during his rookie season. Do you know the last rookie to achieve AT LEAST those averages? Blake Griffin in 2009. Do you know the second to last one? Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... or rather, Lew Alcindor, in 1969!!!!
How is it possible that Paolo Banchero is the most disrespected first overall draft pick in recent NBA history? Well, it's true, he's not Ben Simmons or Anthony Bennett. But he is the most disrespected of those who have so far performed as expected. Although behind all this, as always, there is a reason.
Let me explain, his story is simply unbelievable. From completely transforming a franchise that couldn't find answers, to a medical condition that makes him extremely special, to being hated by an entire country at only 20 years old. But in order to really understand it, you have to start at the beginning.

Very important note that was missed here is that the coaching staff and front office are completely different from the ones who were here for Aaron Gordon. We got a new coach after blowing it up with Vuc trade.
While Suggs struggled at first, he has taken huge strides. And nobody in earth expected Franz to be as good as he was out the gate.
franz is the real number 1 pick in his class! thats why were so good! we literally have 2 number 1 picks in our starting lineup, along with a number 1 pick on our bench!

1. Suggs was not a bad pick
2. The losing 7 pounds was exaggerated and was admitted by paolo.

Jonathan Isaac has lived up to the hype when he’s played. He was the DPOY front runner when he had his horrific knee injury. Now he’s back and healthy again and is arguably the best minute to minute defender in the league, a great rebounder on both ends, and is a solid shooter and finisher

Sabonis never played a game for the Magic as far as I know. Kind of hard to develop a player who never played for your organization. And you must not of heard the Magic drafted Franz Wagner before Paolo. But I still like the video. The Magic don't get enough respect overall.

Jalen is killin it this season! His three point % his rookie year was 21%, then 32% in year two and today it’s currently 39.3%! He’s taking over 5 attempts per game too!
He’s also the Magic’s best defender!

It’s because the rise of the social media era within the last 10-12 years happened while the Magic went through the darkest decade in franchise history all this “new media” sees Orlando as a poverty franchise. They have no idea this is one of the youngest franchises in the NBA and have been to the finals twice, and have had some of the biggest stars in the leagues history though but it’s cool Paolo is going to put Orlando back on the map and they will have to give us our respect and attention!
That probably what it was cause most of these new nba Fans think magic never been good again after shaq era I was arguing with someone last month saying magic haven't been good since tmac left and I was just like wow our franchise really fell off that bad were fans don't even know how good we were😂

Banchero is my go to power foward guy i know that he was also the safest pick in the 2022 draft as the first pick and it's hard for him that people still disrespected him and not showing much more respect in the media about his game. He was even compared to KD and Ben Simmons for his athelticism playmaking and like kd he can shoot however if he can only just improve his consistency and his defense paolo will be an all star especially on the defensive end. He got the ROTY last season so he is only just 21 years he will be 22 in the start of this upcoming season. If given time Paolo can truly show what he is capable of.
when i tell people i like paolo banchero they respond with "that dude that played at duke" (with a disgusted look on their face)... i respond with "why wouldnt you want to play with coach K during his final season?" ... just about every time they nod in agreement as if they didnt think about that.
The player that won rookie of the year honors and then named to the All-Star team his second season, you can hardly call him disrespected. Now his team, the Magic, they've been disrespected big time by the sports media. ESPN hardly talks about them, preferring to run story after story about if the Laker and Warriors can make the "Play-In Tournament", while Orlando has a realistic chance at the 2nd or 3rd seed, when nearly no one predicted them to even have a 500 record!,

In their first championship contending team all the starters had been drafted and developed by the magic. Penny,Anderson, 3d and shack with the exception of grant, their second championship contending team they drafted and developed Howard and Nelson both all stars. This team now they have drafted aand developed the main pices of the team banchero,wagner,suggs,Anthony and Isaac all witch are the core to this team currently 4th in the east.

Paulo is overlooked for a reason. The guy is an inefficient scorer with below average playmaking and ranks in the 30th percentile defensively per craftedDPM. The same reasons we overlook him are the reasons we overlook a guy like Jalen Green last year, who put up 22 ppg on 42% from the field, just 2% lower than Banchero this season. Its empty stats end of the day. Might as well be praising Cam Thomas and gaslight ourselves into making him an all star while wer at it. Banchero is a good player, but there is severe overhype.
You're comparing a high volume shot chucker to someone who gets double and triple teamed every game because teams know the supporting cast around Paolo can't shoot. Efficiency nerds and stat watchers have ruined basketball discourse. Of course efficiency tends to go down when you're relied upon as the #1 option and teams force you to shoot when no one else on the team can. Facts are, Paolo is a HUGE reason the Magic are currently the 4 seed. This is with having THIRD stringers like Chuma Okeke and Anthony Black start alongside Paolo, which is why his on/off numbers are skewed. Watch the game. Paolo creates space for others when he is on the court. Paolo has a lot to improve upon, that is true, but he is nowhere close to Cam Thomas or Jalen Green. That's mad disrespectful. Again, actually watch the games instead of passively looking at box scores and advanced stats.

Luka Doncic in his rookie year averaged 21 pts, 7.8 rebounds, and 6 assists and he is not even 6'10 and plays the PG position. Imagine that averaging more rebounds than Banchero! Why the misinformation on the last person to ever have those stats! Victor Wembenyama currently is averaging 20.7 pts, 10 rebounds, and 3.4 assists (only .3, i repeat .3 assists less than Banchero). Michael Jordan in his rookie year had 28 pts, 6.5 rebounds (only .4 less than Banchero), and 5.9 assists. They are pretty much similar in rebounds and MJ plays guard. So what's so special about Banchero's rookie year???? I fouy are the number 1 pick those stats are expected of you. He has solid stats, did not translate to wins wins though. he actually underperforms for a big man. so stop propping him up. He's good but not exactly a game changer.

He gets basically no media coverage. Aside from draft day, the first time he really got discussed by the media was after he won ROTY. Then they immediately dropped him and started talking about Wemby draft hype.
