I don't quite agree about the X-M5, a bigger sensor will produce better quality (same thing going to Full Frame and then to medium format). So while the X-M5 might not be technically better as vlogger camera it is a better camera than any current DJI. Other than that, you are spot on. Fuji's software development has been atrocious, specially when screwing AF performance.
Not as much a bigger sensor, it is still aps-c, just more MP. In my opinion, and it is nothing more than that, more MP's work if I want to do large scale printing which I don't. As for vlogging it is potato, potatoe, chicken and egg. I own the DJI pocket 3 and it is not as much the output as the easy of using it and just carrying it with you. That machine has a bit of "voodoo" thing to it. If you do taking heads like I do the FF is the best option, aps-c is good and 1' does the job. Thing is that is that in the end of the day, most cameras nowadays deliver a pretty good output in terms of IQ, it is more about the features nowadays and firmware upgrade strategy.
Long (too long) waiting times, quality issues, AF-Performance, artificial shortening of production numbers to get more "premium" customers, steep prizes in comparisons to the other brands, leaving Kaizen-Updates and the lacking transparency of the road map (looking at you, X-Pro4)... the mistakes go on and on. Forgot to mention the terrible buffer cleaning speed when shooting uncompressed on the XH2, after a continuous 600 shoot, camera is useless for shooting more pics, buffer just doesn't clean fast anymore...
Good point and truth be told, I wasn't aware of it. So I learned something today. How long does it take to clear the buffer if I may ask? Is that a minute?
im just getting back into photography and i agree! what are they going to do to combat all these scalpers for the x100vi!! unreal! but now as i research more about it, people saying the build quality on the vi is also poo! buttons wobbly, wheels wobbly, build quality not as robust.... okay.. so i start looking at x-t5 and i think it's the better choice.... turns out build quality also suffering!! not as good at x-t4!! okay fine.. look at x-t4... looking at smaller pancake lenses.... 27mm f2.8 now sold out too, scalpers want $500+ get out of here! to what end!! screw you fuji and your scalper army!! i bought nikon z50ii now with 24mm 1.7 .... very pleased.. so to hell with your recipes! here's a recipe....get back to quality and production, fuji! you let us all down!! do better!!
Thanks for sharing and you are not wrong. Recipes is Fujifilm's main selling point , for good reason, but that said Ricoh, Nikon, Leica and now Lumix are in that game too and not doing to bad... Lumix S9 has so many different LUTs you can apply that it is insane. The Fuji app is poort, Lumix blasts it out of the water. So Fuji has decreased build quality, Dodgy app and AF (continuous) with is average at best... So yeah people are choosing different systems for good reasons That said the Xtrans I-IV sensor cameras are still awesome on the used market, yet overpriced
I think that for a brand that is largely supported by enthusiasts as a lot of professionals don’t trust the autofocus etc they are becoming a very expensive proposition for enthusiasts..
The prices used to be fair and cameras have always come with imperfections but it did deliver. The prices have gone up. The more MPX and advanced technology does that unfortunately. Another side effect is that compromises have to be made. Mostly visible on the build quality
Seems like there are rants with every camera brand. Example, Sony A1 II released yesterday and fans had endless complaints. It was a modest upgrade packed with all the latest tech Sony had in other bodies. Fans wanted more. Expected huge game changing breakthroughs. Some even chimed Sony is dying off which is funny.
Oh i noticed the Sony being released. I never had any complaints when it came to Sony, you know what you are buying. With the latest fuji's that is the issue. I am an avid Fuji user for many years, my rant isn't based on some hunch.
@@PaulTakesPhotos I've been a Fuji user since X-T1, own several bodies, dozen lenses but threw in the towel with the X-H2. Went full Sony. Now the user base rants are it isn't more perfect and cheaper.
I have been an avid user of Fujifilm cameras and lenses for years now and I will share with you that the (used) prices will not come down for some as the Fuji 5 series has the issues it has
I think the odds are severely stacked against the small manufacturers. Doing a camera is not about a box with nice buttons. It is high tech. Canon and Sony sell something like 90% of all cameras. So I think we are all the poorer for that, but that is the reality. Fuji film styles etc are all firmware gimmickery. What matters is AF performance and sensor performance in RAW. I have Canon L lenses from 30 years ago that work better than ever on my R7. I dont care about weather sealing BS. I shoot wildlife and I have never had a lens or body die on me despite most being not weather sealed. I am just not a moron, thats all. Fuji fans are what puts me off Fuji. Fuji is not a massive selling brand. They are fourth, behind Nikon. They are growing slowly, but they are not by any means the best or the biggest. They sell what makes sense - i.e. what makes profit. And development costs a huge amount. Everybody who went on about how bad Canon is are now proved to have been idiots - look at the sales. I think Fuji has a tough job to grow. They need to make a camera from a Sony sensor and make it unique to the tastes of a cult club who thinks the camera body determines how the colour comes out.
Thanks for sharing. 30 bob isn't that much, still Fuji have been dragging their heels on the full weather sealing of the x100 line, 6 iterations down the line. That said the firmware is truly causing havoc. My entire point and experience is with the XS20 and it was a very negative experience. Sadly. So pretty much wondering if Fujifilm's direction is going into the wrong direction
Pretty common these days to hear FUJI users express their disappointment and frustration. As well many already make the jump to other brands. FUJIFILM is focusing more on marketing than on their product. Keep telling this story about retro look, custom setting and so on. Don't get me wrong these are nice add on but cannot be the essence. FUJI prices are noot cheap, and we all deserve better quality that this continuos decline is build and material quality. As of today FUJI is not reliable. FUJIFILM need to urgently fix all of these, if they want to stop the user to move to other brand.
Well Fuji said they will release new firmware for focus tracking this month …..I’m pretty sure they know this is their last straw for a lot of shooters. Hope they can do this final time or we will see a landslide of people dumping their Fuji. If they can’t keep up with the other brands just stop coming out with so many cameras.
1. Older Fuji cameras are just better. Period. Photo centric, well built, and had character. 2. We need a X80 and X40 not vlogging cameras. 3. Vlogging cameras are dumb. Just use your phone and good lighting. Real videographers use dedicated video cameras.
Yes Paul you are an old sour grape 😂 a lot of weight falling on this next firmware update. But honestly they have only been at for a decade. At least us xs20 user's still got our new battery 😊
I recently bought a X-T1 in mint Like new condition for 270 €. Paired with the magic 35 1.4 for another 300 € . This combination is unbelievable. The XTrans 2 sensor is the simple the best in the line up . Last week i sold the XT5 …..
I understand your frustrations, i don't like how the menu system in the 5th gen cameras save every single setting when inputting a recipe, photometry, peaking, etc etc, the 4th gen was much more user friendly in that regard. Subject detection settings are convoluted as well but at least the XT5 doesn't have a terrible flippy screen like the Nikon ZF does, i couldn't use a camera that has that. At least Fuji allows 3rd party manufacturers onto the mount. But yes the XH line and GFX line seem to be priority now, but where the hell is the XPro 4?
We did and we do, Fujifilm made the AF and AI a big part of their product marketing. Hence raising expectation and in the process disappointing us. Needs to called out
📸 I had Canon, moved to Nikon, still on Nikon Dslr's..If I were choosing now - going into Mirrorless, Sony would be my pick. Sony #1 in Mirrorless. •Since I'm still on Nikon Dslrs, I fancy a D850 soon.
I shoot Canon, and I've come to the conclusion that all camera companies don't want us shooters to be happy. If we are happy, then we won't upgrade, and then Fuji will go out of business. Solution: Get the best Fuji camera (or any other brand) that does most of what you want, and just stick with it till it breaks. I'm still using an six year old Canon M50, and a 6D mk1 from 2014. I don't even look at any new Canon stuff anymore…
@@PaulTakesPhotos think of this right , the location of usb ports/jack ports, hdmi is connect on the mainbaord. once water interfear with there ... your camera will soon be damaged over time. show me where the sealing is , companies never showed or talk about weather sealing. ive opend camera they said is weather sealed but its not.... just a myth.. if you want i can send you a link for someone talking about it too.

This is why I’ve moved away from the Gen 5 Fujifilm cameras. I had the XT5 and the XH2s and I sold them for the XT3 and XE4. I’d rather know the limitations and handle them rather than the infinite amount of variables that come with “ai” processing.

Lumix S9 has so many different LUTs you can apply that it is insane. The Fuji app is poort, Lumix blasts it out of the water. So Fuji has decreased build quality, Dodgy app and AF (continuous) with is average at best... So yeah people are choosing different systems for good reasons
That said the Xtrans I-IV sensor cameras are still awesome on the used market, yet overpriced
I’m happy that RUclipsrs are complaining and hating on Fuji now. Hopefully the price can go back to normal soon lol 😅
Well put comment. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.ps nobody isn't calling anybody a moron 😉
The X100vi build is superb, the weather sealing can be done for £30 but the firmware is a disaster and the build of the XT5 is poor.
It should be weather sealed straight out of the box, you are already paying a lot of money for a expensive overpriced camera
Indeed sadly. The success of the x100v and the hype has changed the focus into an entirely different direction
I just noticed today the firmware upgrade is out for the XH2 series and the GFX camera. So fingers crossed for those who own those cameras
i miss their kaizen days
I miss the days cameras were designed for photographers.
Was I dreaming or wasn't there an announcement, excuse me - rumor - about a new fixed lens compact camera from Fuji?
Dreaming or not, it could happen
didn't know fuji had autofocus
Hahah catchy
1. Older Fuji cameras are just better. Period. Photo centric, well built, and had character.
2. We need a X80 and X40 not vlogging cameras.
3. Vlogging cameras are dumb. Just use your phone and good lighting. Real videographers use dedicated video cameras.
Couldn't have put it better myself! 👍
Seriously every time I see new release more & more video features are been added, can't we just have an affordable photo-centric Full frame MILC
Losing not loosing

@@PaulTakesPhotos 😀👍
Yes Paul you are an old sour grape 😂 a lot of weight falling on this next firmware update. But honestly they have only been at for a decade. At least us xs20 user's still got our new battery 😊
Oh don't get me started on that new battery... Now I have turned into a fotrmenting grape
I recently bought a X-T1 in mint Like new condition for 270 €. Paired with the magic 35 1.4 for another 300 € . This combination is unbelievable. The XTrans 2 sensor is the simple the best in the line up . Last week i sold the XT5 …..
Indeed i "downgraded" from the XT4 to the XT1 and it is an amazing photocentric camera
Completely agree about the Xtrans 2 sensor, I have an X-T10 and love it.
Gets a bit too gimmicky doesn't it? Xpro 4 is what we, the people, really want and I am afraid Fuji will never release, nor an XE-5 mind you.
T make a long story short, Fuji autofocus sucks.
But, hey, we knew that already.
Which Sony are you considering?
I shoot Canon, and I've come to the conclusion that all camera companies don't want us shooters to be happy. If we are happy, then we won't upgrade, and then Fuji will go out of business. Solution: Get the best Fuji camera (or any other brand) that does most of what you want, and just stick with it till it breaks. I'm still using an six year old Canon M50, and a 6D mk1 from 2014. I don't even look at any new Canon stuff anymore…
That is exactly what I am doing. Dont need open gate video, nor 8k video to name a few things so XT1, X70 and XT30mII work for me
Weather sealing is myth , is just a gimmick for all camera brands
Why is that? Curious what your view is
@@PaulTakesPhotos think of this right , the location of usb ports/jack ports, hdmi is connect on the mainbaord. once water interfear with there ... your camera will soon be damaged over time. show me where the sealing is , companies never showed or talk about weather sealing. ive opend camera they said is weather sealed but its not.... just a myth.. if you want i can send you a link for someone talking about it too.

I'm a big fan of Fujifilm, and everything you said is true.
Too much praise but highly appreciated
Its not true, just an opinion.
It's spelled "losing".
Not a native English speaker and at times sloppy with the spelling
If you can't be satisfied with Fuji . . .
then quite seriously you can't be satisfied with anything -
That is exactly not what my point was. Xtrans I, II, III: magical...
I have an X100F, rubbish lens, autofocus is very poor! Shutter does not always fire! It has been back twice to Fuji service. Isues NOT FIXED!
Fuji either Don't actually have a Service Department, .. Or the parts bin is just full on the same rubbish it was built with.
No weather seal! ... Fuji are very good at creating Cult following customers, ... certainly not cameras! I bought it new, I still have it. But I simply don't trust it to shoot anything serious. Will I consider Fuji Film again, ... By obsrevation of the Fujifilm company culture, ... Thats a BIG NO.
There is so much very good reliable competetion out there at a far more realistic price point, ... I see no reason to revisit a con.
The customer service of Fujifilm when it comes to repairs is a nightmare... Fully agree
Great rant! and you are so right.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the feedback
This is why I’ve moved away from the Gen 5 Fujifilm cameras. I had the XT5 and the XH2s and I sold them for the XT3 and XE4. I’d rather know the limitations and handle them rather than the infinite amount of variables that come with “ai” processing.
Exactly why sold my XS20 and bought and XT1. The limitations are what they are but they are clear to all
@@PaulTakesPhotos That's why I kept my XT4 after buying S5 II. As much as Panasonic is great, for everyday photography I prefer my XT4. Smaller, lighter. I know how to work around its limitations.
Yep, everything you said plus bloated and convoluted menus.
I do find the menus compared to Sony quite easy. Compared to Leica and Lumix... Different story
