Final:

2. Peter-Michael Kolbe (wge) 7:31.67

4. Sean Drea (ire) 7:42.53
5. Nikolay Dovgan (sov) 7:57.39
6. Ricardo Ibarra (arg) 8:03.05
This has to be the biggest comeback from any race I have ever seen ... Karpinnen was 4 lengths down at the 1K mark ... and 2 lengths down with 500 to go
The first of THREE Men's Single Sculls golds for Karpinnen!!! :) :) :)
*Karppinen...
@@billlenihan2586 Haha, he won everyone both times. What more could he have done?
@@billlenihan2586 ??? Are you trying to be funny? Of course he had to compete in his prime. Some Westerners boycotted in 1980 and some Easterners in 1984, but he won regardless.
Nunca ví a otro remero en otra final olímpica recuperar tantos botes de desventaja... increíble Pertti
What a beautiful and cruel sport rowing is, isn't it? Hats off to the great duo Peter & Pertti, and to PMK's technique and bravery! It takes a lot of courage to race this way, like him and the Abbagnale brothers did. Maybe, if he only didn't have 30 extra seconds because of the headwind...
you have to think of, how fast they were, even as they had WOOD EQUIPMENT!!!!
Looking at the shape of those old wooden oars we used to use.
We were there in Montreal 1976. As an oarsman for Marist College on the Hudson River and the NYAC I loved ROWING events.
Legends: Ivanov, Karpinnen, Kolbe
If Kolbe was a drug cheat will Sean Drea be upgraded to bronze ??
WARRIORS !
Ilove rowing 8 +😘😘
Rowing...the best sport ever.
