I often come back to this video. Your speed and efficiency between 500 and 250 is out of this world. Also I love the honesty and modesty of the commentary. All the best from Italy!
Very cool Xeno, I always thought that was one of the most exciting singles finishes in recent Olympic history. And now we have the Directors Cut! Love it!
Here is 2024. appreciate your perspective. Thanks for this great insight. Is professional rowing still using jockeys? I imagine we're pretty close to that being computer driven so there's no variation other than the rower.
Amazing you didn’t use back arms!! Mind you that is a pretty innovative rigger design for the times! I was coached by Marty’s brother Dave😁. How heavy was the camera on the stern?
My goodness, Xeno... Open water on Thomas Lange, and getting his embrace and congrats at the end. And on Derek Porter... I get shivers each time I look at this again. My heroes, all three of you. Thanks for sharing this, although I may be repeating myself ;^)
Thank you Xeno for posting this. I love to watch your narrations before I race; it calms me down when I feel nervous and at the same time inspires me to strive for the highest place I can achieve. There are a couple of videos out there of you being interviewed in German; are there translations of these interviews anywhere?

Best technique on the water in a great field.
Brilliant victory. Thanks for posting the silver too. Great rowing in both.
Great video and commentary! Thanks for posting.
Props to Thomas Lange for being up there with the new generation of single scullers.

Xeno, down at my shed we have created the term "Xenoing" which refers to this race. Taking out everyone at the end like a boss

7:50 Just curious, what did you mean you couldn’t believe there were 20 strokes to go? Bc it felt like too few or too many strokes left?
My understanding - it was a surreal moment for Xeno with only 20 strokes to go. Everything he had trained for, his dreams, were just 20 strokes away
Imagine four of them in a quad...
This is the most incredible single scull performance of all time in my opinion.
like the description how you prefer to rate higher rather than feel like you're pushing a tank !!
2 strikes against you and still won gold. Amazing
