  • This video shows six terrible calls by the officials in one College Football Bowl game. All six calls favored the same team. This is arguably the most badly called game in college football history.

    No question whatsoever there was a payoff and the game was fixed. Bad calls happen but not like that. That was rigged. One call makes it obvious. 12 men on the field is a call that officials watch like hawks. The referee 5 feet from the 12th man running off of the field not calling it is so ridiculous you have to laugh at someone who doesn't think it was rigged. The only question is: "How much money did they make off of it?" 5 more ridiculous calls just add to the joke.

      Rolo Tamase it's possible (don't know for sure) that he passed on calling the 12 people on the field because the official determined that the extra person did not interfere with the play.
      As for the face mask, well, there's no excuse for getting that call wrong.
      15 yards going the wrong way does make me wonder what went on behind the scenes before this game. Did the league commissioner tell the officials to call the game this way? Did the head referee simply decide to tell his crew to call it as such? If the commissioner is at fault, then he or she was hopefully banned for life after this travesty. If the head ref was ah fault, then he definitely should never officiate any sporting events of any kind at any level in any way ever again.

    • @robmorrison1043
      @robmorrison1043 6 лет назад +9

      it doesn't matter if the 12th man didint interfere in the play, ITS A PENALTY! There's no leway in the rule that allows an official to determine if the player did or did not effect play, IRRELEVANT! The wrong face mask call may be the worst call ever made. I don't understand why 88 just accepted it and did not go nuts, that was very strange.

    I remember this game well, as I watched it. Let me state that I am a Tennessee fan, my son is a Gator fan. I am not a fan of either Iowa, or Florida. To this day, I still remember that horrible facemask call, which still defies logic. How a ref can call a facemask penalty on the wrong person, is simply incredible. I remember telling my son about what a terrible call that was, and how his Gators got breaks the entire game. Also, the off-sides on the onside kick recovery. That entire game, Iowa had call after call, go against them, in a game they deserved to win. I agree...this was the worst officiated game in history. Florida always seems to get these...The "catch" which wasn't, against Tennessee, etc. But for an entire game, this one takes the blue ribbon for bad officiating.

    The coordinator of the CUSA refs admitted that 5 calls were under review. He specifically cited the onside kick penalty. 1)The rule at the time of this game was if the receiver was in bounds, catches the ball in the air, and the defender pushes him out of bounds, he would be called in bounds.
    2)Roughing the kicker - first off, the ref called "running into the kicker" not "roughing" the former is a 5 yard penalty the latter is a 15 yarder. The kicker landed on the defender, not a penalty.

This game should torn from the sporting history book and the refs never allowed near a football field again.

    Well the problem is Iowa was playing Florida with Urban Meyer coaching that was one of the worst cheating teams until he left

    Was there an investigation into this absolute atrocity?! I don't even remember hearing anything about this and the evidence is overwhelming that, at the very least, something's not right with all the bad calls, blatantly bad calls, going against only the 1 team!

    I'm willing to venture refs had money on the game or were getting paid.

    All of these were terrible except #1. Unless I am missing something, or maybe the rules were different in 2006, the WR landed out of bounds so didn't they get that one correct?
    #3 and #4 were down right disgraceful. This had to have been fixed.

    • @GGs319
      @GGs319 7 лет назад +3

      shanahan142008 back then it was a judgment call. If the ref thought the receiver would land in bounds if he was not hit, it would be a catch.

    Another was a stupid sideline warning when no Iowa players were even near. Then there was the disconcerting signals penalty against Iowa where Florida was clearly offsides and were even moving back 5 yards anticipating the penalty.
    Tomczak blew his stack after his "are you kidding me" comment. Tomczak has absolutely no love for Iowa but he was fit to be tied.

    This was not bad officiating at all. It was actually excellent since the game was obviously fixed. They had a job to do and it's clear they did their job very well. And no, not an Iowa fan but a football fan in general. I hate seeing things like this but it happens more often than we realize.

    I pity SEC for so many low quality wins. This was not the only apparent "BRIBED REFEREE" officials... But also many others in the past. I would not admit a victory if iam a gator's coach or player.
    The SEC officials always always try their best to keep 1 team from SEC conf to play in the NT.

  • @uncklebuckle6859

    On the very first call, I’m not sure there is a force-out rule in college as there is in the pros (The reasoning being that you only need to get 1 foot in); but part of his body landed inbounds anyway so it was a catch.

  • @mongoose704

    There were more bad calls! There was a horrific spot given to the Gators where they we stopped them on 3rd down in front of the official nearly 2 yards from the first down marker. The ball was moved forward over 2 yards from where the player's knee clearly went down. From 3th down and punt to 1st down and a score. Conference USA admitted the bad calls and publicly apologized to Iowa. The NCAA fined the officials for the bad calls. Two were fired as a result. Those are indisputable facts.

    I remember getting up on New Years Day and turning this game on. I saw everyone of these bad calls but kept wondering if they really were or were things just that close! They really that bad and I remember the Iowa fans looked they were ready to storm the field and tackle the refs. I've never seen fans anywhere that upset and rightly so. Recall that Iowa had completely demolished Florida the year before so you had to wonder if the refs were trying like hell to allow the Gators vengeance. In any case this game was the worst anybody had ever seen as far as officiating went. I think even Florida's fans were stunned.

  • @seahawks3414

    even with all those bad calls, they were still within 7 at the end. They had a chance, which means Florida needed all those calls in their favor to win. Check the officials pocketbooks after that one.

    Remember watching this game when I was 12 years old. One of the saddest days of my young life being a lifelong hawks fan. When they called that offside on the kickoff, that almost hurt as much as Bartman interfering with Alou in the 03' NLCS. No lie, I thought they were gonna tie it. Woulda had the ball of Florida's 48 with 1:22 left.. Tate coulda got in in for sure. :( oh well..

    Im a 12 year old huge hawk fan, this is sad. I've never in my life seen worse calls. Iowa would have won this game and would have beat LSU and Florida in consecutive years in bowls. I cant believe this. I"m not allie,her brother.

    3) The helmet to helmet was ridiculous. The defender was coming from behind the QB and clearly just landed on him. Get some glasses if that looks iffy.
