  • The Omega Speedmaster Professional, aka "The Moonwatch," is an icon among watch enthusiasts. The space exploration legacy of the Speedmaster chronograph goes even farther back than NASA's famed Apollo 11 lunar mission that put the first men on the surface on the moon. I culled through the mission recordings for some of the highlights and many very interesting lesser known moments.
As a hobbyist who started just a couple of years ago, I was delighted to have the owner's trust to repair the broken mainspring and service this caliber 861. Many watch lovers consider it a "grail" wristwatch and he deserves to have it running properly. Be sure to follow the lubrication guidelines in the service manual which can be found with a quick internet search. While my video may not serve as the best example of mater technique, I hope it can at least inspire others

Outstanding unique idea for a video! Great work simultaneously telling the stories of both space exploration and watch repair.

Hopefully I’ll find another chance for a similar one.

I can understand the regret. But you maybe did the right thing at the time?
